IIRC the BLJ into BoB and JRB is slightly quicker than the others (from either the staircase outside the JRB door or outside the BoB door), which means you should probably do them after PSS and PSS2 respectively personally, I think this route would be better: BitDW blj from stairs in room to: CCM blj to WF or WF blj to CCM blj to basement door from stairs in CCM or WF room. VCUtM warp back to start TotWC blj to BBH Go to basement door get MIPS while bljing to SSL from 0 star stairs. SSL LLL Toad CotMC HMC blj from HMC stairs to DDD BitFS warp back to start PSS warp back to start then blj to BoB blj from stairs inside BoB room to PSS2 warp back to start then blj to JRB

I think you should do toad before HMC because then you are closer to the staircase when you do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJP4owsoeFg&feature=channel_page

Well the results have been submitted, and there is a clear winner it appears. I will post the results when I have verified that each movie syncs. EDIT: results! And the winner is... <insert drumroll here> team 3! which consisted of mz, moozooh, Randil and dammit with final time of 11:20.22. Congratulations! In second place rolls in team 2 which consisted of Cpadolf, MUGG and TheRandomPieIV with a final time of 11:40.40. Great effort from you as well. unfortunately the trunky mofos ( FODA, Kyman and Truncated) didn't finish their submission and their final WIP can be found here Congratulations to all! Sorry there are no prizes, my pockets just aren't deep enough for that.

Just to let you know, that in half an hour, you will have 11 hours left to finish your TAS. Just so that there's not confusion as to any time differences between countries.

There's no rubbing (for me at least), so I never seem to develop blisters only hand cramps.

You aren't saying that there are huge improvements to be made on the any% run? The any% run on tasvideos is longer than the unnasisted run.

The "all dungeons" run has been done: http://tasvideos.org/2087S.html However, the any% is on hiatus because mupen64plus has not come out yet, and they need a soft reset. Mupen64plus will not be ready for quite a while, so you are quite safe doing an RBA run. It's like saying that I will do this TAS a year in the future. This literally means it is not being worked on. Reset recording mupen however, is readily available, but does not have the pause fix.

You must be doing it wrong. I never got a single blister while attempting control stick spinning. The technique that I used was to put the control stick between the bases of my two middle fingers, and spun my hand wildly.

When I play it, it syncs to where you exit through the tunnel, then desyncs. I used the pause fix mupen and the exact same plugins. Are you sure you are using the same ROM? or is it (V1.1) or something. If you want my opinion, do whatever is the fastest. Complete the game in the fastest way possible with disregard to any other restriction. I actually haven't played OoT from start to finish, so I can't really help you with any route planning.

TASers never have 100% certanty that their TAS won't screw up. No matter how good the emulator is, computers still make mistakes sometimes.

I really don't think this is going to be a problem. Some emulators (such as mupen64) are accepted by the site but have known desync issues. Without any experimentation, I don't think anyone can say whether the loss of precision is significant enought to warrant a "TAS mode". TASers are well aware of the issues of desyncs, and there are many techniques used that TASers can use to avoid them. Regular replays of the movie are done by many TASers to check for such issues.

I think that's a liitle too much effort than some are willing to endure.

At funnyhair: yes. One thing that datacrystal does not have is tricks and glitches relating to speedrunning and TASing, and the TASvideos wiki is sadly lacking in this department as well, because it lacks game volume and the tricks documented are outdated. I would say that many people would find a knowledge base that anyone could edit useful.

I think this is a good idea. However, I'm thinking like a "resources" link on the front page linking to user edited wikis and documentation, emulators, other tools ect., so when you're ready to TAS you have all the help you need in the one place. EDIT: I'd just like to add that I too, have contributed to datacrystal. Not a lot, but I have contributed.

Actually, there was a test run of ranger x done a while ago and it seems that you can ascend infinitely without overheating if you tap up in a certain way (hint: watch the test run)

I couldn't get your run to sync. do you know what the rom name is? The one I am using is "Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (U) (V1.0) [!]" Also, I suggest you watch JNX's rejected run, Groobo's run and PDot's rejected run for strategies if you haven't already. I haven't seen them, but only because I couldn't get them to sync. I would probably say that you will need to get under an hour in order to have your run published. And great work. You're improving very fast.

I think the definition of a triangle is that it must have three points connected with line segments. In a triangle with side lengths 0, these line segments are undefined, therefore that is not a triangle. I disagree with Warp though. Any three non-colinear points determines a triangle, and a plane, however, I don't think that a triangle is necassarily defined by three non-colinear points. EDIT: corrected a mistake, where I directly contradicted myself.

Not really, it just seems that all my other TAS projects are simulaneously on hiatus. If you're asking about a collaboration though, I'd be more than happy to oblige.

Okay, here we go.. The official start time is 8:57 GMT +8:00 monday, 28th of September. the end time is one week from now. Before we start, you have to play the game on the hardest difficulty. not doing so will result in automatic disqualification. The game name is... Ranger X Rom name is Ranger-X (U)[!].bin And the platform is: SEGA genesis MD5: 4E8A318BA7F70B42816FBDAFD2624BEF Good luck! Thanks to Darkkobold who suggested this. Ranger X is an awesome game about a mech and his vehicle shooting down waves of mechanical enemies. You complete levels by killing a certain number of enemies. I think this will really test your TASing abilities, so let me say this again; Good luck! I would also like to thank these people for also suggesting awesome games. IMO, the following games were great and should have runs proptly done, but I had to chose one game: Derakon: Cocoron (nes). This is a chose your own protagonst game, which leaves this open for many possibilities. Aqfaq: Rolo to the rescue (genesis). Fast paced and excellent. FODA: The fantastic adventures of dizzy (nes). Intense route planning here, and also stars humpty dumpty. Truncated: Alien Hominid (gba). very intersting game to play and watch. Kirkq: james bond 007 (gb). zelda style james bond. These aren't all of the nominations, but these were the ones I think stood out from the crowd. Just in case, at any stage you think your team can't finish by the deadline. post on the forums. If all three teams reach a unanimous agreement that the deadline should be extended, I will extend the deadline another week.

The game choices aren't that restrictive. The first 2 are basically moozooh's guidelines and the third fourth and fifth guidelines are basically to say that ther has to be some form of competition. Most badly made games will be completed whithin similar times, and be boring to watch. I'm not going to accept autoscrollers because then there will be little or no competition, and the "hidden gems" guideline is so that no-one has an unfair advantage. If I think that there is going to be sufficient competition between the teams I am willing to ignore the last three guidelines EDIT: I have added mz to team 3.

Allright, I have a problem. Dammit just signed up and he doesn't have a team. This means I'm going to have to split the existing two teams up into three teams of three. If anyone has any problems with the way the tams have been rearranged, PM me, and I'll try to cooperate. Truncated Kyman FODA Cpadolf MUGG TheRandomPieIV dammit Randil moozooh mz These are the teams. I picked one person from teams 1 and 2 randomly to make up the rest of team 3. Sorry for any inconvenience EDIT: For anyone still making game nominations, I'm loloking for the following
  • Must be emulated correctly and playable by all team members, for obvious reasons. This rules out any PSX game because good iso's are hard to come by and are extremely large downloads. I'm okay with games on other emulators as long as the rom is not excessively large and the emulator is stable for all
  • It must be short. It must be under 20 mins depending on the complexity of the game. The game should be able to be completed in one week by three team members whithin reasonable expectations.
  • The game must be suitable for a TAS. Bad game choices like autoscrollers and generally crap games won't be accepted by the site, and they won't get accepted by me.
  • The game should not have a run on TASvideos and if you are participating, don't tell me that you have tased this game before. I want everyone with an equal footing as soon as the competition starts. Also, I don't want to hear about well known games without a run. I'm looking for hidden gems, not obvious choices.
  • The game should be awesome. I'm going to watch all of the submitted movies and I don't want it to be a waste of my time.

That's what he meant by PM. As a side note I was just about to vote "yes" on this submission. Oh well.
