Spectral Tower (スペクトラルタワー ) is a role-playing game for the PlayStation that was only released in Japan and the first game developed by Idea Factory, creator of various otaku games such as Cross Edge and the Neptunia series. You play as an adventurer that's looking for wonders and treasure, and it's said that the Spectral Tower contains both that are beyond any person's imagination. Your objective is to get to the top of that tower and see what the heavens can give you that Earth can't.
The game is infamous for its extremely long length. Each floor in the towers contain procedurally generated floor layouts and monster layouts, and the titular Spectral Tower contains 1000 of these floors. It also has enemies that can destroy items that you're carrying, chests that have to be attacked if your chest opening level is too low, and dozens and dozens of traps.
For this run, CoolHandMike decides he doesn't want to deal with all that tedium and annoyance and greatly manipulates the RNG so that the floor teleporting items, the Warp Rod and Jump Rod, can skip as many floors as possible without fail. In the process, he clears even the 10,000 floor Final Tower in record time. For more details on the mechanics of the game, you can read the author's notes.
