This is a heavily modified hack of Rockman 6 done with completely new weapons, level designs, tiles, boss patterns and music from another games. A collaborative work of Rockman romhackers, this was formerly known as Rockman 6 Skype. This TAS tries to go as fast as possible using all weapons and mainly the Guardian Blade (Knightman's weapon) to save time in ladders and kill strong enemies.
Game objectives
- Emulator used: FCEUX 2.2.3
- Manipulate luck
- Takes damage to save time
- Complete the game as fast as possible
Game Comments
This game is really different to the original Rockman 6 starting with a better Slide, in this game you don't have to cancel Slide like in the original game. You can change weapons quickly with Select button, Down+Select to change to the previous weapon, Start+Select to change to Buster, Start+Select+Up to change to Jet Adaptor quickly and Start+Select+Down to Power Suit. At the beginning of the game it's mentioned that the romhack is incomplete, that's because Mr. X1 and Mr. X4 stages are the bosses only, but in compensation for that, Yamato and Wily Stages are a bit longer than the rest.
Movie Comments
Boss Order
The boss order is based on the weakness like most of the Mega Man runs, starting with Knightman who gives you the most useful weapon in the game, and then Tomahawk, Wind, Yamato, Blizzard, Flame, Plant and finally Centaur.
Falling Faster
When you are Sliding and about to fall off the platform you can go back one frame and then slide again in the last possible frame that Mega Man is touching the platform to fall faster, this saves about 2 or 3 frames.
Knightman Stage
First stage because Knightman doesn't have a weakness but Mega Buster hits 3 HP.
Guardian Blade
Knightman's weapon is called Guardian Blade and is like the speedrun weapon, this can be used to save time climbing ladders, reach high platforms and kill strong enemies like minibosses.
Tomahawkman Stage
In this stage you can kill the first enemies with G. Blade since they have a lot of HP and you can't pass under his bullets with slide. You can use G. Blade to climb ladders vertically and diagonally.
Windman Stage
In the middle of the stage i use Air Guys to take advantage of the gust of wind and move faster for a moment. I use G. Blade to spawn a moving platform earlier and get on the platform faster. Before the Boss room i only use ladder jumps because G. Blade takes too much time to do the animation and take the ladder again.
Jet Adaptor
Jet Adaptor is used to reach high platforms or to save a bit of time in ladders, falls and jumps. The most where it is used is in Yamato, Blizzard, Mr. X3, Wily 1 and Wily 3 stages.
Yamatoman Stage
In the first part of the stage i use Jet Adaptor to get to the bomb faster. You can kill the Metall Potton with Vertical Draft, but since you take a long time to get close to him i use G. Blade to hit him and save time. In the second part i use Jet Adaptor to get close to the platform and then a G. Blade to reach the platform and save a bit of time. In the fourth part i use V. Draft to reduce lag and then G. Blade since it's faster than moving normally.
Blizzardman Stage
In the first part of the stage is faster to kill the enemies without G. Blade since Mega Man stays in the air for a moment when you kill an enemy and it's slower in the snow physics. I take a damage boost in the final part of the stage since it's faster than sliding in the bombs only.
Absolute Zero
Blizzardman's weapon is the most powerful and useful weapon against minibosses, most of them are killed with A. Zero, you can freeze enemies and pass through them to kill them.
Power Suit
Power Suit is used to destroy blocks in your way like in Flame and Wily 1 Stages. Power Suit is the weakness of Wily 2 boss and you can do a quick kill to Wily 3 boss if you do it correctly.
Flameman Stage
This stage has a secret way that is much faster than the normal way, you must make sure that the flames don't touch the oil during the stage and the flames don't activate before the boss room, you can shoot to the flames or simply going fast until despawn the flames.
Plantman Stage
You can kill the minibosses very fast with 5 hits of A. Zero. I take a damage boost in the spikes because i waste a lot of time waiting the platform.
Centaurman Stage
Nothing special to comment.
Mr. X1 Stage
Boss only. I use A. Zero and V. Draft to kill the boss.
Mr. X2 Stage
Damage boost in the last part of the stage to save time.
Mr. X3 Stage
A. Zero and G. Blade is heavily used in this stage, especially in the final part, you want to travel the least possible way, so sometimes you use too much G. Blade and you need to change to Jet Adapter to save a bit of time.
Mr. X4 Stage
You want to kill the boss the most as positioned to the right possible, so you can hit it with Power Suit to make it change direction and kill him in the best position possible.
Wily 1 Stage
I use Jet Adapter before the boss room to reach the platform as quickly as possible.
Wily 2 Stage
The flames cycle in this stages is always the same and is not possible to manipulate, so you can search weapon drops in this stage without losing time.
Wily 3 Stage
The most remarkable thing is the last miniboss kill and the boss quick-kill. You can kill the last miniboss with Power Suit hitting two of the falling flames. You can quick-kill the boss with 4 hits to the Right Orb, then in the following pattern you have to make the two orbs collide with each other and finally hit the last blow with any weapon.
Wily 4 Stage
Wily Machine and Wily Capsule can be manipulated with every movement that Mega Man does so it was not very difficult to find a good pattern.
feos: This hack is of rather high quality. Even though I don't think it's possible to compete with Minus Infinity, it doesn't mean all the simpler hacks should be rejected. There wasn't a lot of feedback, but whatever was there was positive, and by looking at gameplay I agree: the game is action-packed, fast-paced, levels have variety. It's probably not complete, but the hack authors have indicated that development has stopped, as explained here. Otherwise there's enough difference compared to the original game, and overall it's worth speedrunning.
I watched it alongside No Constancy, and this movie entertained me more. I considered obsoleting No Constancy as a possibility, but got no opinions on that matter in the thread. On the contrary, judgments for both NC submissions forbid obsoleting movies of that hack by non-Megaman-2 hacks. Since that decision was explicit and persisted across both submissions, I think that it's okay to leave NC intact for now.
Accepting to Moons.
