Overclocked is a very short NES homebrew made for the Byte-Off 2020 Competition by someone named Sam V, known as The1StickMan on YouTube. You play as a computer cursor who has to collect 3 files to escape the black and white world it's in. Under specific conditions, the game can randomly go back to the 1st screen.
The physics behind that aforementioned statement are very complicated, but from my understanding of it, the game does this on 2 conditions:
- If you don't move for ~45 frames
- If you don't stop moving for ~60 frames
The levels themselves are very short and simple. I use pinpoint precision to beat this game in 5 and a half seconds - one of the shortest movies on TASVideos.
There's a way to make the file move by plugging in the 2nd controller. I don't use this trick in the run.
Thanks to CoolKirby for providing a temp encode of my 2nd run, a 6.67. It can be found in the submission discussion.
As usual, any improvements are appreciated.

EDIT: I have since improved this TAS by 77 frames - https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638128681153871146

nymx: Claiming for judging.

nymx: Replacing movie file with an updated version that cuts 77 frames.

nymx: I've discussed with our staff and we came to a conclusion. The concern I had, was the ROM used. Not to worry though...I've reached out to the developer and waited 4 days for a response. Because it was considered a "demo", we felt as if it was not a finished product. Well, its been a while and I'm not getting a reply back from the developer and is apparently not going to be further developed. Its current form of release was in September 2020...so we are accepting the use of this ROM .
Now to judgement...In regards to your final input file, I was not able to find 1 frame. I thought I had found something, but the game rules kicked in and I started to understand this game even more. Great job!
The goal choice of "1 Player" is acceptable under the rules for Standard, as "Minimum Players". https://tasvideos.org/MovieRules#Standard
Accepting to "Standard" for publication.
