Please note that I will not be making encodes for any of my TASes that are longer than 10 minutes.
About the Game(s):
Action 52 is an unlicensed game made for the NES and Sega Genesis, featuring - you guessed it - 52 different video games. The NES version was published in 1991, whereas the Genesis version was published in 1993. Both versions were published by Active Enterprises.
Slalom is game 26/52 in the Sega Genesis version of Action 52. You play as a professional skier, who skis down 9 hills that progressively get bigger and bigger.
About the TAS:
This TAS aims for fastest completion, which means completing all 9 levels as fast as possible.
If this gets published, it'll be my longest publication so far.
Gameplay/Tech:
This is essentially a survival game, so the first 8 levels are very trivial.
At the start of each level, we have to press U for 4 frames, which is as much as the game allows us to do before we reach the top of the screen. This does not affect the frame count.
On levels 7-9, we can end input very early due to there being a specific spot in the second half of each level where no trees ever show up. This trick is used to end input about a minute early, on frame 38162.
And That's It!
Thanks for reading. If you manage to find an earlier input end, I'll add you as a co-author.
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: Interesting game...it reminds me of #8451: nymx's C64 Sno-Cat in 02:14.96, that I did earlier this year.
Again, this is a much better game to TAS and does a good job of demonstrating the limits of the game. Ending input also...very good.
Accepting.
