Battle Mode, known as "VS Super Game" in this game, is a mode that works in the same way as the battle mode of all Bomberman games. Oh yeah, I'm so original. (?)
However, Irem's Bomberman arcade duology, Atomic Punk (Battle Mode is only accessible in the Japanese version known simply as Bomber Man) and New Atomic Punk: Global Quest, has something quite suspicious. In this mode, the CPU-controlled AI from Level 3 and 4 punishes the player in ridiculous and deceitful ways so that the player loses before reaching the next levels. But in this TAS, the CPU-controlled AI is punished by making everything very easy. Ha!
