Mappy Arrangement is one of 6 games included in Namco Classic Collection Vol. 1 which is a compilation that was released in 1995 for Arcades. For this volume, the games are Galaga, Xevious, and Mappy. Both volumes are notable for introducing the "Arrangement" series which serve as new takes of the game named after. These often introduce new enemies & variants, a variety of level themes, boss fights, and simultaneous co-op. This and Rally-X Arrangement are the only games that haven't gotten any rerelease at all...
This TAS aims for fastest completion with 2 players. Here's an extended input which fills out the name entry.

Strats

While it's nothing game-breaking and the TAS still needs to have favorable RNG (where the Meowkies/pink cats go), Mappy has some strats regarding the doors and the levers.
  • Short Warp: If Player 1 or Player 2 closes a door/lever in a specific position, pressing left on the same frame as the second to last frame of the closing door/lever animation, they'll be able to warp to the other side which can save a few frames compared to walking.
  • Door Specific: Opening and Closing the door and then opening it again can lead to a strange behavoir where pressing the opposite direction on the same frame as opening it (after opening and closing it once) the door will act as if the player was on the other side and will slam them into that direction instead of the intended direction. Useful for when there's a item near the door.

General Comments

There's not much to say about this run since it's just a matter of routing the mice to collect the items while avoiding the meowkies and using the strats mentioned above, but, I'd like to thank wau for their run which helped me make this. Unrelated fun fact: if you press 1 and 2 the frame after pressing start, the characters will have a "realistic" look to them.

feos: Accepting. Publisher, please use the extended input file linked above.
