About the Game(s)
Action 52 is an unlicensed game made for the NES and Sega Genesis, featuring - you guessed it - 52 different video games. The NES version was published in 1991, whereas the Genesis version was published in 1993. Both versions were published by Active Enterprises.
Atmos Quake is game 18/52 in the NES version of Action 52. As an arrow-shaped spaceship, your task is to navigate past 5 levels shooting other, differently shaped spaceships and avoiding the meteors and walls.
About the TAS
This TAS aims for fastest completion, which means beating all 5 levels as fast as possible.
Gameplay
After waiting through the cutscene and going through the menus, we can start up the game on frame 970.
Since this is essentially a survival game, optimisation is trivial. We don't even have to be at the top of the screen to end the level faster, as they're all on a global timer. All we have to do is survive. One random footnote I can add is that spaceships can only spawn in a window of 16 frames between each other.
Level 5 is where it gets interesting. It's supposed to be impossible to beat due to the level glitching up and generating invisible walls that can't be cleared. But by holding right as soon as the level starts, we can "complete" it in the blink of an eye as the game warps back to Level 1. Input ends on frame 16628.
That's all from me. Thanks for reading.
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: All looks well here. I was intrigued by the ending though...I thought you had mad a mistake in early input ending, but that is a very weird way of triggering the completion of the game. So, you are getting closer to completing the Action 52 collection.
Accepting.
