Sega Genesis NHLPA Hockey ’93 fastest win by input lenght.
Game objectives
- Emulator used: Bizhawk
- Win the game (Regular Mode)
- Aims for fastest time (ends input as early as possible)
- Manipulates luck (referee and opponent RNG)
The most important thing is to change the periods to 5 minutes.
This version of the game does not advance to the next period without any input, so we can't make one goal in the first period immediately and then end input. Instead, we need to do some input to start the 3rd period, then make a goal as fast as possible to end input early.
Another strat is to make a goal in the 1st/2nd period so you can end input early when you press start to begin 3rd period, but due to cheering animations, this is slower by about 200 frames.
I believe the referee RNG can be manipulated to save maybe 1-2 seconds, but I don't understand how it works.
This game is very bad compared to NHL Hockey.
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: Having rom trouble here. Even though someone was able to sync it, I need to review it. Plus that same rom source is no longer available. Seeing to "Needs More Info" for now.
nymx: Well, I was finally able to get this cleared away. Thanks to Bigbass and Darkman425 for their help.
At first, I had no clue what was going on. I thought it was the regular de-sync again, but it wasn't. After I noticed the strategy being used, I quickly realized why the author chose this direction. You did the right thing by saving your effort for the beginning of the 3rd period, which gives you the most available opportunity to end input early. The game-play doesn't seem all that exciting, except for the scoring....but you certainly did the right thing here. Yeah...this game is really bad, if the AI can't take you down. I can imagine that it is not fun at all to play.
