This thread at Acmlm's inspired me to take a trip down SMB2J, something I hadn't done in a while: http://www.filespace.org/4matsy/smb2j_allwarps.fcm (Right-Click, Save As(tm). FDS rom, FCEU 0.98.15.) True to beneficii's prediction, I was indeed awarded world 9, despite taking no less than SEVEN different warp zones (all except 4...no way to take it and go back to world 3 to beat that castle). LOL XD

Yeah, I wish there was an editor for the FDS version too. SMB2J uses the same type of level format as SMB1; other than the physics tweaks and a few extra objects (most having to do with poison mushrooms), it's the exact same engine. :p Luckily there IS a level editor for the GBC version. And it shows said room changer to be only a few blocks away from the warp zone vine--the only pipe that could possibly be used is the one right before the block formation containing the vine, so I'm in doubt as to whether it would be too much faster. -_- EDIT: Then again, I just thought: there ARE only 3 upside-down pipes in the entire level, the one I haven't yet mentioned being right at the exit. So the location of the pointer is moot anyway, if it's not at the first pipe at the beginning. :/

Whoa, WTF. o.O This seems to work on any upside-down pipe, too. Heh. :p I first thought this could be useful for getting to the world 8 warp zone faster, as there's a sufficiently low pipe right at the beginning of 5-2...unfortunately, when I tested it, I couldn't scroll far enough for the necessary pipe pointer to have been loaded, so the pipe would only take me back to the beginning of the level. >_< Still, who knows? Maybe using this glitch to enter bonus rooms faster could shave off a few frames here and there in a no-warp run. :p

LOL, yeah, this run is just too ridiculous to find only one good screen. =P I attempted to make a compromise in the form of this animated GIF "highlights reel", but it turned out to be 473KB; it'd kill the page loading for sure on a dialup connection. XD I'd agree with the others: show either the Mushroom Hill or Icecap glitches. (Or maybe a simple animated GIF with just those two shots. It'd likely be a bit bigger than the other shots on the page, but certainly not as big as mine... =P)

SMB1: - Small fiery Mario. - Killing both Bowser and Mario simultaneously. THANK YOU MARIO! BUT YOU SEEM TO BE, LIKE, DEAD AND EVERYTHING! SMB2J: - Beating a castle at 000, resulting in credit for 1000 ticks instead. XD SMB2US: - The "world 1 with world 3 properties" glitch world. - Warping from 6-1 to 6-1. - Killing Clawgrip with one rock. :p SMB3: - Going in a pipe at the end of an autoscrolling level too early, resulting in wraparound death. LOL SMW: - Forest of Illusion 1 point and life leeching off Wigglers. - Yoshi eating a feather and berry simultaneously, which freezes everything...except, if timed correctly, the coin counter, which begins to ring up unlimited cash and lives. :) SM64: - Getting the 100-coin star in Rainbow Ride when there's no ground under it. Sonic 3 alone: - The infinite "Doilus Stage". - Exploiting the fact that debug mode remembers starposts you hit, and the water levels when you hit them. I once got water in Marble Garden (LOVELY glitched palette), and as a special bonus, fought Robotnik in the middle of the level. XD Sonic 3 & Knuckles: - Debug Mode, select Tails and Doomsday, hit B to enter debug before the transformation, hit B to exit back out of debug. Result: UNglitched Super Tails in Doomsday, with no ring loss. :) - Placing additional transporters in the Metal Sonic area, producing a triple Metal Sonic fight. Fun. :) Metroid 2: - Rapid pausing to make walls disappear, opening up glitched areas. Super Metroid: - Spazer + plasma = >100%. Kirby's Adventure: - Keeping the UFO. - Getting 255 mikes from the 2nd boss. RAWK ON. Gradius 3: - Pick "speed down" for your "!" slot, and get it while you're going as slow as possible. It gives you a speedup, missiles, a shield, and all 4 options. o_O Blaster Master: - The paused grenade glitch at bosses 2, 4, 6, and 7. - Getting the tank down to 0 life and exiting before it blows up, then getting killed when re-entering the tank. XD

1,000,000. :p The millions digit just isn't visible at the beginning of the game, strangely--I guess the programmer(s?) figured most players wouldn't get that high a score in one game. :p It loops at 9,999,950, actually. I don't remember, though, whether or not it correctly saves 9,999,950 as the new high score if you skip over it... Also, the All-Stars version has a weird glitch where player 2's millions 9 doesn't disappear when the counter gets looped. o_O

Ditto for me, but I like cool pictures too. :P So, right now, I'm using a darkened version of this. It wins. :)

Max life is 32, if I remember right. I've heard that earlier versions of the game freeze up at 10 million points (as in, the game hangs if you go over 9999990)...I dunno if this has any truth to it. <_<

Interesting point, Phil...the THIEF tag does kinda "taint" the run a tiny bit. Still...it doesn't actually change anything in the credits and ending other than what everybody calls the player (to my knowledge anyway...I never actually took the time to beat the DX version without swiping the bow <_<'), and I'm sure taking detours would cut into the entertainment value. And I possibly mean a LOT of detours, here...not just to save up the 980 rupees required, but probably a good bit of working around not being able to shoot arrows early in the game. O_O I think stealing was a better option in this case, really. :p

Theres weird thing on A-4 Bowser after killing bowser and hitting axe screen suddenly stops when mario walking to bag. Its the koopa dropping into lava and i couldn't figure how to avoid it expect for waiting before hitting axe. The weird thing is this haven't happened other bowsers and on last version i killed this browers slower so koopa already was dropped into lava and this didn't happen. Well in overall killing bowser is now 14 frames faster but that thing takes 24 frames.
Yeah, it happens sometimes. Although I have no idea when...only that it only happens when the enemy isn't already in the lava when you hit the axe. I do it all the time playing the game normally. :p

Level 13, "Armageddon", is the Dark Queen fight itself. :p It seems that the reason that they didn't make the between-level intro screen appear is because they used slot 13 for the "you just got a game over and continued" text. XD I remember back when I used my Game Genie to skip straight to various levels, and was surprised when, upon starting at level 13, T-Bird berated me for screwing up. :p

I suppose you could call area 5 of Blaster Master the Pool of Radiance. Seriously, it's so far underground and I don't see any sort of light source down there...Jason shouldn't be able to see jack. Not to mention pressure and other physics issues. :p

The leaf shield can take out the eyeballs in one hit...and since it goes through enemies in this game, one shield could probably clear an entire room. You'd just have to hope you won't need the leaf shield in a later level, though; weapon ammo is no longer refilled between levels after you beat the first four bosses. :/

I cant take shorcut with wall jump because you do the wall jump and you cant move back to same wall that you jumped...
Uh...yes you can. =P Granted, not immediately, since the game forces you to jump away from the wall...but as soon as you've jumped, you can release the direction of the wall, then press it again to return to the wall. ...eh, that explanation probably wasn't very good, but I dunno how else to word it. =P The tall pits at the beginning of the 2nd level are probably a good example...try wall-jumping completely out of them from the bottom, you'll probably find out what I mean eventually. I used to be able to get out of these with pretty good consistency on the actual console back in the day... :)

Er...okay. THAT was weird... <_<' I've been watching the run in Mupen...same 1.0 rom, same plugins, raw data checked, and downloaded the latest drivers for my video card...and every time, the entire emulator crashes after the deku tree, around frame 49450 (right after the "wicked man from the desert" line). o_O Anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem? What I saw so far looked quite impressive, and I'd really like to see the rest...I suppose I could ask for a savestate right after that, but that wouldn't really help the problem itself. =P

No, any sword will do. It's just that with the wooden sword, he takes 15 hits instead of 4. XD Actually, I was thinking of this: grab whichever sword saves the most time, whenever it won't waste any time (of course, I haven't tested any paths; so it could be getting the magic sword a few dungeons before the end, or maybe even getting the wooden sword right at the beginning of the game...), then just don't use it until you get to Ganon. It'd still be a no-sword-using quest, up until Ganon; you'd just be grabbing a sword whenever it'd be most convenient. :p

Actually, yes it would--you still have to get into the door that appears once Wart is off the screen. ...though this sounds like a glitch I used to do with a Game Genie invincibility code. You'll get the same effect by running into Wart, while invincible, while his mouth is open. :p
