Homepage and IPS patch download here. It's one of the few completed SMB2 level hacks, and even has a few ASM hacks to add new features (like the low gravity in world 6). Although the levels seem to be a bit bigger/longer than in the original game, and there aren't any warp zones, so a TAS of this would have to be an all-levels run, and therefore somewhat long...or perhaps not, with all the new tricks and glitches discovered in recent SMB2 runs... Anyone up for it?

From what I've seen, this happens if you hit the fire button again on the frame before the shield runs out...

I've noticed a fairly large flaw with the maps: when you change the solidity settings in the level editor, it affects ALL the maps in the game. The solidity data should be saved in the map files themselves instead, so that other maps won't be affected... Other than that, though, this is a great release. The huge amount of new features really breathes some new life into this game. :) EDIT: Some maps I made. :)

Sure, go right ahead. ^_^ Actually, on the day I made this thread, I got a 3:16, but didn't record it...maybe tonight or tomorrow I'll try recording again and see if I can meet or beat that. :)

Yeah, go for it, count me in the 15. I've been wanting to see Phil demonstrate his tool-assisted expertise on this game. NES or SNES, I really don't care, heck, do 'em both... :)

This is, at least at the moment, my favorite Mega Man game. It's yer standard Mega Man X game, just on the smaller Game Boy Color system. It's a nice game, although a bit difficult... Anyway, there's 3 times you have to go through the game. First, you only have access to the "X Mission" (X vs. four bosses) and "Zero Mission" (Zero vs. four other bosses) which you play through as X or Zero alone, though once you reach the final stages you can switch characters on the fly. Beat both the X and Zero missions, and "Extreme Mode" opens up. You have to beat all 8 bosses before the final stages, and you can switch between X and Zero at any time. You also get to fight Sigma at the end of the game, as is usual for the series. =P Beating the Extreme Mode unlocks my favorite feature, and the subject of this thread: "Boss Attack". :) You can choose Course A (Mega Man Xtreme 1 bosses) or Course B (Mega Man Xtreme 2 bosses), and the game times you on how fast you beat them. So, without further ado... Here's an SRAM with Boss Attack unlocked. And here's a VBM recording of my current Course B best time, 3:18 (in-game...3:31 if you count all the menus and such). Let's see how much more you guys can whittle this down. =P (I'll probably do Course A later. Or not, depends on my mood. =P) Some notes: - If you hold select as you hit start to begin Boss Attack, you'll get all the armor parts. Likely useless, since having all the armor limits X to only 2 add-on parts instead of 4, and you want to cause as much damage to these guys in as little time as possible. - Likewise, since Zero's range is so short, and X's much-ballyhooed "Ultimate Buster, Buster +1, Buster +2, Speed Shot" part combo does just as much damage as Zero's saber but at long distance, Zero is apparently just as useless. =P - See how I cut off Launch Octopus's arms with the Ray Claw? There's two good reasons I wasted that time going to the menu: 1. To prevent him from doing tornadoes all over the place, rendering him invincible and eating up time like nothing else. 2. To stun him, allowing for an easy target...you'll notice he didn't get a chance to move much. =P - In the options menu, it's possible to set the select button to change weapons rather than switch to Zero. I didn't bother changing said option before starting the recording, but it might save some time as far as Launch Octopus is concerned... This isn't exactly what I'd call perfect. There are a few bosses I could've hit more at better times, I had to take some energy capsules because I also took too many hits, and I fumbled the menu during the Launch Octopus fight. =P I'd say this'd be able to be reduced to at least 3:15, maybe even 3:10. But I'll leave that to y'all. Happy Maverick blastin'. =P

I like how the video is faster even though it appears slower due to all the tricks he was able to fit within the 21-frame rule. Definite yes vote. :)

Indeed, the whole thing sounded like a made-up rumor, especially considering the lack of a recording. So I tried it myself: Ran into TWO Bloopers and a Cheep Cheep simultaneously, and all I got was killed. (Twice, because I forgot where the Minus World's midpoint was...) I'm pretty sure it's fake... =P

Stuff I'd like to see: NES: - Adventures of Lolo 2, Japanese version. Probably the hardest, most brain-busting puzzle game out there...it'd be fun to see the lil' blue ball blow through it at top speed. :) - Zelda 2 done at lowest levels possible, without the warping glitch. I read on the GameFAQs boards that a 3-1-1 is possible...o_O - Zelda 1 swordless, 3 hearts, and bare minimum items. For added style, pick up the wooden sword at the very beginning like normal, but just don't use it 'til Ganon... :p Arcade: - Gradius 3...at least 3 loops. That thing is friggin' insane compared to the SNES version... - Battletoads, duh. Preferably all 3 players... :)

Would you think that beating Strange or Big would give the highest score?
Probably Strange, since it has the 10000-point flowers, which should be luck-manipulatable; the other three sets only have the 5000-point bananas as the max fruit. Plus, Strange features a couple mazes from Mini and Big anyway, if my memory serves...

How did you know you get a 1-up at 300k?
Two ways... One: I actually own the Genesis version, and the instruction manual says so. =P Two: I once used a Game Genie "ghosts always stay blue" code to simulate a perfect Strange game (though I couldn't de-randomize the fruits to get flowers every time, since I was doing this on the actual console), and wound up with a score over 500,000. Which is why I said getting flowers every time might indeed cause the score counter to loop... EDIT: Well...after some testing and messing around with the RAM to make all the fruits worth 200k (lol), it seems that the score doesn't loop until a million, and isn't reprinted correctly until the next level...seems they stored it as 6 individual digits, knowing full well no one would get that far. =P

Thread I made regarding the NES version, which is basically the exact same game. Interesting observation regarding the score looping, though. If whoever ends up running this gets the 10000-point flowers every time, we might just see the results of that theory...

Yeah, sounds like using Pharaoh Man's weakness takes more time than not using it, since you can't charge your buster when you have the Flash Stopper on... Also, I believe Napalm Man has a weakness to Pharaoh Shot...might be best to start with him when you get to the second group of four.

I'm still trying to beat the Intermediate board without getting blown to smithereens, as I just "got into" the game a few days ago. =P Have y'all seen Dion Tiu and Oliver Scheer's videos? They both smoked the Expert board in 39 seconds...@_@ They're at http://www.planet-minesweeper.com/bestever.php...click on the 39s in the Expert column to download the videos (which are MVF format, for playback in Rodrigo's clone).

Rodrigo Camargo's ultimate Minesweeper clone: http://www.geocities.com/minesweeperclone Found this today, and it's the most comprehensive Minesweeper program I've seen. It's pretty much identical to the factory-default Windows versions, but with cool extra stuff: - Stats up the wazoo, so you can brag to your friends. - Video recording, so you can brag even more to your friends. - Multiplayer internet minesweeping joy. - Quite a few cheat features, for those of you who just wanna play around with the program. And it's freeware, to boot. Worship the man. :) The 12345678 sequence in the above picture was made with the prog's board editor. The 1234567 sequence in my avatar actually happened during a real game (which the guy lost...d'oh! >_<), and the video of it is available on the homepage (along with several others...ph34r their minesweeping speed).

I just watched it on a freshly-patched ROM and it worked fine the whole way through, despite the mismatched checksum...*shrug*

By the way 4matsy... you didn't use any of the up-down tricks. Do you still have the old version of FCEU?
Yeah, I never did get the one with up+down enabled. Dunno why...^_^' Could you direct me to it again? I've forgotten which topic had it, couldn't find it with a search, and it doesn't appear to be on the EmulatorHomepages page...<_<

Well, after watching Sleepz and BoMF's videos and laughing at some of their mistakes, I figured I'd attempt this too, and make some mistakes of my own (=P): http://www.filespace.org/4matsy/How4matsyPlaysRockman.fcm Got 25:03, I did. Not bad for a first try, eh? ;)

Me, too, when it's not being abused with rerecording. =P You can actually pretty clearly see 3 or 4 places in my run where I screwed up with it. Royally, in one case...

I found this by way of a thread over at Acmlm's. (They've posted some screenshots there, for those who're interested.) Download the game here. It's basically a clone of the light-cycle scene in Tron. (Or like Snake, or Surround, or whatever similar game you've played.) You drive a bike, can only turn at 90-degree angles, and leave a wall behind you. Anyone who runs into any wall is dead, and the round continues until only one player remains. Unlike most similar games, here in AA you can speed up by driving close to walls; this forces you to think carefully about where you go, since other players can take advantage of your walls to gain speed and quickly box you in. (Although it's near-impossible to box a player in completely, you can still easily leave him/her with only a tiny gap as the only way out.) The game is simple to play, as there's not much to it. There are a few camera controls, but all that's really needed is 3 keys for brakes and turning. The bots put up a good fight, but I've become familiar with most of their tricks, and I've only been playing for a day and a half. o_O Anyone interested in setting up a game or three? (I'm usually on late at night, starting around 10:30 or 11 EST. I wouldn't be able to host though...stupid 56k :/ )

4matsy, you probably mean to use Salt Water on Arm Bots? Yeah I will do that, thanks for pointing it out. (as well as Dark Moon, use Photon Missile on its eye)
Ah, okay. I just remembered some boss with an eye for a weak point being especially weak to the Salt Water. =P I need to play this game through again...heh.
