Here's some music I programmed just this week, if that counts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JawPlwjYKRA

I suppose the game is not as readily digestible as the classic Mortal Kombats, with a different fighting system and admittedly not as impressive glitches. The way I see it, though, this run is not boring, despite knowing full well what happens in it, and thus not being even fully capable of becoming surprised by the outcomes and events of the fights. Is it MK favoritism? Or "mother's love", so to speak? In the end, I can only guess what this run looks like to you, and possibly assure both that I made the most out of the game's glitches which I knew of, and that playing on V. Hard like this in real time is at best not recommended, at worst impossible.

I like the idea of a game character running through a visual representation of the game's data like this. Among other things. So... yes.

I agree that this game has a Tekken vibe to it. There have been relatively many views of this topic, and a decent amount of votes, but strangely few posts... Thanks for the HD-encode, Mmarks. \m/

I watched Ryuto's encode on Youtube. This run is a work of art! A great improvement over the last run, and the game choice is interesting too. Yes vote.

This has been sitting here for a while already, hasn't it... based on the quietude of the last few days, guess everyone's somewhere else for holidays. Anyway, just wanted to say that thanks for "accepting", if the text regarding the fate of this submission is to be believed.

This kind of level completion speed at high, rickety altitudes looks dangerous for the turtle... I liked this run and many solutions to the levels were surprising. Voting yes.

This could be interesting. If there's an encode coming up, I'll watch it.

Episode-based games... I suppose releasing runs of them with different episodes being just different "branches" for the same game is alright? Just thinking aloud. This run was fast-paced, short, amusing and looked optimized, as was the other one. As far as I'm concerned, it's a yes vote (for both).

You got to do the same thing at the police station before each level except the last one, but it isn't that bad. I've continued this run and finished level 2 & 3. I re-did the second level three times and shaved about 130 frames from the first attempt. The third level on the other hand was very easy to figure out. Most of re-records came from the "fight" against ED-209's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w833fkQ5428

This is a really cool improvement. It was a strangely short run for a Batman game, and now it's even more strangely short. Guess I'll vote yes.

Yes, according to GameFAQs. Woohoo, here's the speedrun of the first level of the game, utterly humiliated by glitches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhk_sRH1HeY About the run: - in the police station, you must always examine four things to get to the actual level. Each prompts a rising message during which you can't do anything and it wastes a second. However, two rising messages can be skipped with frame precise timing. - holding multiple directions down at once allows, as mentioned, Robocop to move at double speed and exit screens way earlier than he is supposed to. If he ends up inside walls at the next screen, he can sometimes pass through them harmlessly... sometimes he gets stuck, though. And since you need to touch the outer rim of the screen when doing this, you also need some moving space for activating the glitch. - this game has 8 levels with varying objectives. In the first level, you are supposed to pick up two pieces of evidence, then go to the pier to watch a short scene. Not too bad... the level design allows some pretty radical warping around. Theory: - apparently, lives don't come back after getting through a level. Therefore death abuse can only be done two times total in the run before game over. I know at least one spot in which it will come really handy, but the other... gotta keep on eye open. - hopefully I don't have to do sections outside camera... there are some cases in which you can go outside the screen using L+R glitches, and even come out from the opposite side of the screen again. This is something that I haven't experimented that much yet.

A cool little game with really danceable music. It also suffers from L+R type of glitches which make Robocop double his speed and teleport by bumping into the screen limit too fast. I would estimate a TAS of this game would be 7-10 mins long, and mostly incomprehensible to look at. I was just wondering if anyone here has played this game, and knows for certain what is the difference between difficulty levels? From my quick test, Robocop and the enemies take the same amount of hits to die in both modes. The only difference I've yet noticed on "hard" is that Robocop starts with only 2 lives instead of 3... which is a shame because death abuse will come in handy during this run. EDIT: "hard" mode also seems to have more enemies. I'll try to make a WIP in a short while.

Sure, this run is pretty predictable in its content, but it makes one think what would happen if someone played a Deal or No Deal game like this in real life. Also, I like how the crowd responds negatively to you opening up "100.000"... "200.000"... when there are mostly just even bigger prices left. The surprise ending works as a nice ideological counterweight to this materialistic holiday season - if you got tool-assistance, you don't need no cash. Lastly, the music in this game is relaxing to listen. But I'll refrain from voting for now...

I don't think this is a bad game choice. Since it well improves the old run, yes vote.

You successfully persuaded me to encode the test run WIP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzJ4ELX93S4 Can you elaborate on "insanely buggy mechanics"? You might know something I don't. The strangest things I know combo-wise in this game are the morph combos or doing grabs in the middle of a juggle.

Full of action. The second soldier guy was so badass that he untied the ropes of those people tied to the trees using only his teeth! I liked this run, and vote 'yes'.

Ignore the above WIP. Well, it's quality work, but I've restarted this project. I'm going to do a run from SRAM using the unlockable characters Drahmin, Hsu Hao and Sektor... it just has a lot more potential that way.

For such a long run, this was really fun to watch. Although, I was yearning for more glitches, perhaps having been conditioned into such an expectation by the recent Rockman run. Yes vote.

MK: Deadly Alliance and Tournament Edition are almost the same in terms of gameplay. However, TE has a more interesting roster of the two, being a sort of "expansion pack" to DA. It also has a far better A.I. In these two games, you are allowed to morph into another character while doing attacks with Shang Tsung, allowing odd effects to happen. The game lets the character you morph into continue with a respective attack of his own movelist, which sometimes has no effect (there is a period of time during which you won't do any damage to your opponent while morphing), but sometimes the attacks combo in ways never expected by the game. You have not only a larger versatility in combos than normally possible, but some special moves segue into glitched special moves or even fatality animations which have no effect. Right now I'm leaning towards running TE instead of DA, although... if I use "Mortal Kombat - Tournament Edition (U) (M5) [b1]", will the run be acceptable? I tried two dumps of the three that GoodGBA lists, and this was the better one. (it's just as functional, but it doesn't have a self-made dumper's intro at the start. Both of the roms have graphical glitches at the profile menu... could it just be an emulation glitch?) EDIT: I would be curious to hear what this looks like to you, or if it syncs properly. It's my run so far, done using the rom named above. Ask if you want some info on the techniques or just reasons for apparent tomfoolery. (sometimes it is just that, tomfoolery, though) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/658513545/Mortal%20Kombat%20-%20Tournament%20Edition.vbm

I've continued the run a bit up to where you have to defeat the evil orb. There's a new trick which may allow a better exping strategy for getting to lv. 9: defeating a boss, then saving at the exact same frame you get the victory exp. You get the exp, but after you load game the boss is still there and can be re-killed. I've only tested this against the orb boss so far, though. This would probably be most worth it against Xantham, who gives 3000 something exp if I recall correctly. The orb boss gives about 1200 exp. Although, Magic Missile and its cooldown period favors more streamlined leveling... EDIT: I'm fearing running out of magic in the upcoming section, so I've manipulated a +1 rejuv ring from a zombie.

Here's my two apologetic cents. Although the two games (SNES and GB versions of Mortal Kombat III) are based on the same license, they have different mechanics & glitches. I don't mentally compare them as a superior and inferior port, but instead two different games... and as a fan of the series, two different opportunities for MK games to TAS and see TASed. While this movie is not optimal in entertainment (lacking variety), the author states showing glitches and those few infinites as his goal. On solely those terms, at least, this movie is a success.
