Fried, are you referring to Hue Lee's run. I've seen that once. It would just be neat to do it on Special Cup, or you could play around with the point distribution, such as most even set, or biggest blowout win, etc. (My biggest victory margin is 24 points, for 45, 21, 21. I've had that a few times on Mushroom Cup.) Andreas

Can you really have a star when you're in 1st in GP? I can't remember ever getting that.. Oh well, like someone said, many times the feather is what you'll opt for. (Just remember that you can't get it on MC and DP tracks.) Also, many tracks have spots where items can be placed for fail-safe CPU spin-outs. This has the potential to be very entertaining. Something I'd also like to see done, as a novelty, is a cup completion with an 8th place ranking. Andreas

I do of course know that a full run is a full run, and I never said it had to be, all I did was state my preference. It just seems to me that there is enough variety to many of the courses to introduce a lot of fun tricks and stunts. (Especially considering how much Genisto managed to do in the simpler levels.) Very entertaining! I suppose I'd like to see all levels done, just to see a demonstration of what can be done in this and this situation, and so forth. Andreas

Great work! I would have guessed regrabbing the shell saved more than a mere 1-2 frames, by the looks of it. Flying through the ghost circle looks so neat. Doing such things gives off the feeling that forward progression isn't hindered by anything at all in the game. Like nothing could stop Mario from rushing through the stages at full speed. Andreas

My compliments to all involved. I am really impressed by the amount of tricks you've incorporated. This run demonstrates exactly what I want to see. Oh, and since we're on about shells.. I friend of mine saw the 96 exit run and was thoroughly impressed, but wondered why Mario wasn't carrying a shell while running. He claimed this was slightly faster than normal running speed. There isn't really any truth to his theory, is there? Andreas

How would your suggestion for 1 be faster than what's currently done? I don't see the logic behind it (you'd still have to wait for some time as the door opens). Andreas

Won't you also get a skeleton key if you manage to render the giant baby harmless? It's been a while since I played this game. You could just use Pandora's boxes on the baby to save time, but they are perhaps more important later. (I'm sure you've thought of this, though) Later on, there's also the addition of doctor tongue's son. I suggest you rescue him too, since he is there to save. Another thing, in case you didn't already know: The bubble gum pistol is good for killing those pesky ants. Andreas

I have this game, and I very distinctly remember that, in the level where the zombies take on the forms of the players, the trashcan by the cheerleader at the bottom part of the map once gave me a skeleton key, so it's possible to get them this way. I remember it so vividly because when I went to get the key, I accidentally entered the door to complete the stage. I'm sure I've had skeleton keys appear like this before, it's just that the other incidents were no match for this particular one. Andreas

Fast neat run. Fast-paced for such a segmented game. I have on SNES (PAL). I haven't really played it through, but at the first gourmet race stage, wouldn't it perhaps be faster to inhale the first block, and exhale it to destroy the next and resume running as soon as possible, rather than sliding through. (I'm sure you've already tested, but this was faster for me, comparing against previous runs when I played it on console. Not that that's much of an indication, but it's made me curious.) Andreas

If you're planning on a 100% run with the Extra levels included, there is reportedly a trick to disable the auto-scrolling in Extra 1: Poochy Ain't Stupid. Use the bats (I think they're named Fangs) to get up to the top of the left-hand wall at the start. This would somehow disable auto-scrolling in the level. This is another trick I've only heard about but never tested, so there might be something else to it. (It's been a while..) I've seen it mentioned ´by several players, so I think it works in one way or another. Andreas

FCEU does not seem to be working properly on this old computer I'm at now, so I haven't seen your progress, but I'd just like to say that personally, I would prefer if you either got as many lives as possible before completing the game (as in not stopping at 99, because the life counter happens to), or as many points as possible. Maybe that feels sort of stupid, since excess lives wouldn't be available or seen on the screen, but I think it would be interesting to see you attempt to go all-out in one category besides speed. I've been holding off commentary for some reason, I don't know why really. I never had any reason to. This run is not only fast, it is superbly played with great creativity and a lot of surprising stunts, all the way up until the neat finish. I appreciate the game itself even more after watching this movie. Thank You Viper7 for the dedication that went into making this run what it has become, and for posting so many entertaining tidbits along the way. ..That's a Yes vote for all who skipped the above paragraphs. Now read them if you didn't! Andreas

Maybe you have already tested this, and confirmed it slower, and again I wouldn't know if it is actually faster. In the Valley Ghost House, when you're in the second room, doesn't the second door on the right take you directly to the section underneath the "boxed in" keyhole? Getting through to the key without an item would perhaps be so much slower time isn't made up, I wouldn't know. Andreas

One thing about the second room in Forest Fortress. It's possible (I don't remember offhand how it's done) to fly so that you you dive/fall directly onto the pink triangle that sends you running up the wall. By doing this, you will maintain running speed, IIRC. Something you could compare against what's currently done. Andreas

I dislike it because it strains my eyes to the point that I have to look away every time it happens. (I'm sensitive to bright light and that type of flickering, etc.) Andreas

I just wanted to say that the most you can have remaining on the clock after finishing a round in SFII (for SNES) is 96. (But it's not realisitically possible to accomplish in a fight.) Just have someone repeatedly walk into Chun Li's Lightning Kick or E. Honda's Hundred Handslap moves. (Fierce for both.) Perhaps that's only possible in the Vs. Mode on damage level 7. This doesn't help progress in any way, just thought I'd mention it. Andreas

I'll give my input on this, care how much you want about what I have to say:
If you fall unconscious in a race 5 seconds before the goal (and it is noticed by the judges and the audience) but your car still crosses the goal line, does it count as a valid result? If the car collapses 10 meters before the goal but a wheel of it crosses the goal line, does it count as a valid result?
I like the reasoning that this quote represents, and the variations that followed. I will use this theme for a (fictitious) scenario of my own. I may regurgitate what others have said, but at the risk of doing so, I say: Say that the driver is unconscious before the finish, and won't be affecting the outcome of the race from that point on. Does that make him reach the finish line faster? The winner is announced. One of the judges comes running, gasping for air to deliver the breaking news: We just discovered the driver in 2nd place, who finished 1 metre behind the first racer crossing the finish line - went unconscious one minute before he reached the finish line. (The ending straight was long, or something, it doesn't matter in this fictitious example.) As a result of this, his race time is considered a minute shorter. He wins the race by a margin of 59.XX seconds. I may have taken som values to the extreme to easier illustrate, but the situation, and resoning itself appears strange to me, even with more sensible values. Kyrsimys has said most things for me. I also agree that for all improvements of existing runs, the movie(s)should be stopped at the same point for all attempts. Andreas

One thing I'd like to mention to take into consideration for Cheese Bridge, is that it would be possible to fly (without Yoshi, that is) through this course from beginning to end, accessing the secret exit. I did this on my SNES a few years ago, speedrunning levels. Andreas

Personally, I would be the most interested in seeing a a fast completion of this game where every level is beaten with a 100 pt. score. (I know I'm in no position to justify a request.) Some levels are perhaps a bit dull when you skip the items. Is anyone of you contemplating such a run? Andreas

There is an even more extreme difficulty called Crazy Hard Mode that can be unlocked by pressing the following button sequence at the Setup Screen. Left, Left, Right, Right, Down, Up, Down, Up, A, X In case you didn't know. Andreas

Maybe this has already been considered and rejected, but wouldn't Mario be a good choice for 1-1? Or is Toad's running so much faster that the time Mario would gain by avoiding the two squat jumps is (more than) offset? Andreas
