"Avoids wasting time" is a stated goal, and I don't think it's an extra button press anyway (he would need to jump to make it to the flagpole anyway, he just jumps after falling).
Anyway, good run, seems maybe appropriate as a technical demo, fun to watch. Yes vote.
I didn't expect THAT ending. What are the chances of landing that spell in the last fight, out of curiosity?
Anyway, good submission, yes vote. For a TAS I can't think of a challenge that requires more manipulation (maybe a no-magic solo Black Mage run, but that'd mostly just be boring to watch).
I think you mean "tenor." (I mean, I legitimately think that's the right word, but I could be wrong, so someone tell me if I'm mistaken.)
I think I prefer the glitched-up rooster song, myself.
Looks pretty good, overall. Bow-wow got to snack on some Trendy Game owner, so I guess someone will be calling animal control soon. I also like the friendly Moblin.
Technically all upgrades includes the magic powder wells for greater bomb/arrow carrying capacity, as well as heart pieces. Nothing wrong with that--might be fun to glitch out the maps when you pick those up, maybe. Might not be that entertaining... depends on how you go about it.
There aren't any other goals I can think of besides 100% collection (and maybe 100% map travel?). I guess you could say "defeats all bosses" or even "defeats all minibosses" since you're going to be doing the Stalfos and that's the most time-consuming miniboss anyway.
I think hookshot will be worth getting, even if it isn't very exciting. Does screenwarping the Stalfos miniboss to the room he's normally in last change the outcome of the fight, or does he still run away until the fourth battle? Might be worth checking, though I would be surprised if it worked. And I know I mentioned it before, but Catfish's Maw stands out in my memory as a place with interesting treasure chest music/dialogue when you glitch out the dungeon.
Unless Marin makes the game unplayable, the lag shouldn't be a problem. Keep her until you have the rooster, at least.
Bleh, I compared it to the "max magic" code. Sorry.
I guess the best option might be to test things on an NTSC-U version of the game. Unappealing, I know.
It's a known fact that to properly emulate Windows you must include the ability to print tasty cakes. Fortunately, work on the GUI has already started.
I have no way of testing this on my mac, sorry:

I'm assuming you already found this site (first thing that came up when I googled "japanese wind waker action replay"). In the offchance you didn't, maybe it'll help. At the very least, these codes don't match up with NTSC-U or PAL codes that I've found.
I can't wait to put a horsebox in my mouth. (I love this thread.)
To give a semi-serious answer to why this isn't possible: computers have a lot of various processes that happen at different speeds based on many factors, including hardware (which varies from machine to machine). What you're talking about SOUNDS simple but is immensely complex, because to make that input work consistently across machines, you have to structure an environment (emulator) that will provide the same results regardless of variable components, processor power competition, memory allocation... it's a mess.
I'd bet there's more technical reasons I can't really fathom as someone who's not properly attempted to code an emulator. I just dabble in programming... an expert could tell you more. Point is, unless you hired a team of experienced coders, this sort of thing would be years, not months. And it -is- what Hourglass is trying to do, as mentioned earlier.
Oh man. I literally laughed for a minute straight. That's perfect. I almost don't even want to watch any more WIPs now, 'cause of how much fun it'll be to watch the whole way through. Playing the drums while a lava alligator throws bananas is just... too funny.
Semantics are an awful necessity in our world; it's clear what I meant, but by the letter of the law you are correct. At any rate, the spirit of the run should be easily identified, whatever the rules. The ones you've stated are fine.
You can see, though, how some levels being the same as warpless is still more different than this run was, right? We may see some overlap, but it would entail more change than most runs.
I'm a little surprised the goal choice doesn't appeal to you, HappyLee, seeing as you've always had an affinity for any runs SMB. Guess that's your call, of course.
Everyone's assuming by "box" he means "window." Maybe he wants you to put your computer in a box. Or maybe he means for you "to do a TAS on" a box, like instead of a regular desk. Have you guys tried moving your computer on a box? Because you shouldn't judge if you haven't.
Heck, maybe he wants to do a TAS while IN a box, like a hungry hungry hobo. Or perhaps the box belongs to Schrödinger, and the TAS inside is neither optimized nor not.
I'm just saying, before we assume he means the obvious, let's think outside the box a little.
