I don't think it does, as I have the latest VLC and the MKVs indeed doesn't work. MPlayer does seem to work though. Edit: It's a bit interesting that you found MPlayer working fine surprising, as I told you about it on IRC when we were trying to troubleshoot this. Ah well.

I must say though, good work creaothceann on making such an Avisynth script. I may come in handy for me in the future.

But the screenshot I posted looks completely fine. How do you explain that?

Wait, how does just setting the aspect ratio flag to 4:3 not fix this? Edit: After talking to Ilari on IRC, apparently the native resolution is 640x480. Here is a sample: There is no need to add scanlines!

That cell-shaded texture pack looks amazing, can't wait for that encode to finish *drool*
Too bad it doesn't convert everything. Some backgrounds are still the original low quality static screen. =/

I wonder who would still care for this, for I'm sure almost everyone saw it on youtube already :P
You do know the YouTube version is incorrect, right?

Sorry it's taking so long. Lost ~3 days due to x264 crashing.

What's taking so long with the publication?
What Warepire said. 1920x1440 res is also a pain since it takes so much memory to encode hitting the limits of application memory on a 32-bit app.

Note to everyone who plans to encode: I don't want to see Link moving OVER the doors in the dungeons. The encode of the current Swordless TAS has it, and that looks awful. config > videos... > uncheck "allow more than 8 sprites per scanline"
Wow, I did NOT notice this, since it seems to only happen on doors going up or down. Now I know better. Thanks!

So Raphael, my favorite turtle, was a total chump in this video. All he did was roll and kick OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Other than that it was pretty good so I voted yes.
Raph was special in the run in that he kept the screen moving the fastest. So I would still say that's special =)

Of course, if you capture directly to H.264 lossless, you already missed the chance =p. Sorry, just had to taunt you.

I hope the publication will be in 640x480, as voted in the poll.
The publication would have all the encodes, so not to worry? =p

No, I remember how to do it, but thanks for asking. However, I recall the original Rockman L streaming version being incompatible with the PS3, which was why I had to ask for the re-encode; did you ever look into what caused that? And if so, were you able to fix it? (That had been the only one I tried that it happened with.)
Yes, I know how to fix that problem, and I have been doing for a while now. If it wasn't fixed, the Mario VIP runs wouldn't work, would they? =p

My impression from when I asked for a re-encode of the Rockman L run was that you were going to change your encoding protocol to alleviate the problem. I apologize if I misunderstood.
Now I feel bad. It is a misunderstanding as I would not change my methods due to the space savings I get from doing duplicate frame deletion. I had no idea you misunderstood, so thanks for letting me know under that context. Now that the misunderstanding has been cleared, do you need help in figuring out how to get the streaming version?

Excellent run, DK. Yes vote. @Aktan: Your mp4 encode had the "video ahead of the audio on a PS3" problem again.
And again, you are suppose to download the streaming version. I do hope you remember next time as it is getting a bit tiring tell you this.

Chaos in a half shell! Is the volume difference between the music and the voices supposed to be so great? The music was incredibly muted.
I have no idea, but I noticed this as well. I tried my best to find a way to up the volume, but found nothing. According to Nach, he said he remembers the real arcade being the same. Oh well.

Okay, so I've decided to do 320x240 and 640x480. Since I capture to 1920x1440 anyway, I may also do 1920x1440. There is also a request for a Cel texture version, so I may also do that version if noone takes it. That's a total of 4 encodes! Man this will take a while... Thanks for all the feedback!

Good job on more testing! It is weird why you don't get the same effect on Sonic. Here is two zoomed in images that really show point re-sampling working, meaning the top left pixel color in each 2x2 box is taken. I've put URLs instead since the images are so large: http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/1094/18919974.png http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/8847/69921030.png
