To me it looks it's a subroutine that's called for whenever Megaman escapes a boss fight screen somehow. I bet you something similiar would happen if you zipped past the left or right edge of the screen for any boss. I think the way Megaman fell to the left, even though he was frozen, was affected by user input once he got stuck in the floor. Also typically, after a boss dies, user input is disabled; however when the user did something unexpected, it looked like the game gave the user a chance to try to bring Megaman back to where he's supposed to be. This might be nothing but as trident shots left the screen and the game removed those objects from RAM, Megaman got stuck in the floor. Something to look into. The video could also be a fake for all I know. I hope what I wrote won't actually mislead anybody.

You could subtract the raw BGM track from the BGM+SFX track (subtracting is the same as 180° phase inversing one track and adding that to the other) to get a track of slightly distorted sound effects, then edit out the pauses, then add the BGM track to that.
This makes sense to me. Especially since it's 8-bit sound, I suspect that there would be virtually no distortion in the sound effects. Also, I don't know how well Dolphin + LUA scripts work, but it would be cool to see an icon of the weapon above Mega Man's head much like MM10 each time he switches weapons. I also kind of feel like that if you're cutting out what stops the in-game timer, then you have to cut off weapon refill animations too, although I'm very much fine if that was left in in the encode. This speedrun is starting to have a lot of post-production

Does dying reset the RNG or that frame rule? I'm sure dying takes a lot longer than 187 frames and to do so would ruin many of your goals, but I'm just wondering.

A newgame+ run of WEWY would be dramatically different from a fresh game. The game unlocks more and more features as it progresses (and there's many), which would all be saved in a newgame+. A newgame+ from Shiki, Day 1 would then have everything already unlocked, not to mention you keep your level, equipment, and attributes from before. I highly doubt you would be allowed to use AR or whatever to unlock just ultimate mode, unless there's some unknown in-game code to unlock it. My suggestion if you want to TAS this game is that:
You have to start from a clean SRAM. Everytime you level up, you revert the LVG back to 1 You use the highest difficulty as it becomes available Make it entertaining.

I'm aware that tmont didn't have the TAS tools that are available now back when he did the run. I feel confident that now, with current tools, I could do a better job than tmont did; however, I'm not a TASer so I wouldn't value my opinion much. It was wrong of me to suggest that theAxeman is putting in more time in his run than tmont did, especially considering the tools that are/were available to them. For all I know, it's not true. Anyway, that's good news.

I never played the game, and I'm not a TASer so my opinion doesn't matter, but for what it's worth, I think you should try it out. If the game is nostalgic for you, it probably is nostalgic for somebody else too, and if you're interested to see the game beaten to a pulp, then that should be enough motivation to TAS it. At least it will be good practice, maybe =/

I'm looking forward to this run too. If it wasn't for having a mac, I would've tried this game for my first tas because I knew I could at least do it better than the currently published run. I'm glad you're taking more time to optimize it.

I had to watch a review of this game to fully understand how absolutely insane this run is. Yes vote for this and for maybe speediest tas of 2011. We will see...

That was hilarious and awesome :) Do you know how long it's going to take you to complete the game? I just finally completed the game for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I'm very much looking forward to this tas.

I voted yes because as it seems reasonably optimized and the game seems interesting, however I feel like there wasn't a that much personal style in the gameplay, which I felt was missing. It looks like you only ran from boss to boss with minimal effort. I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense, but it would have been nice to see you doing things like running backwards or jumping to the music instead of just running into the wall waiting for it to open. I hope this is constructive for you.

It was awesome, but for some reason I voted yes.

I'm just going to wait to get a new computer. My mac barely has enough room to do all that.

Yo, wadup? I've been watching these tas videos for a long time. I would like to try to tas some games, but I'm on a mac, and it seems that it really limits my options.

Why did my post get deleted? All I did was say hi in this forum and introduced myself a bit, but later when checked up on it, it was no longer there.
