Ey, Moozooh, Coil! I love that band so much. I actually just recommended that to Shinryuu, I think I convinced him by telling him that they've actually made soundtrack to the documentry "Gay men's guide to safe sex" and that the singer is homosexual. I haven't gotten into Nurse With Wound yet though.... And I think Shinryuu could come with something interesting if he keep working on it. I've been creating a lot of noise and experimental stuff lately, especially today, I'll upload it later maybe. Cheers everyone! Well, I'll upload it tonight instead, so here it is, it's a lot more noise than shinryuu's. The first one (God of Glory...) consists mostly of VST instruments where most sounds are created manually and a lot of mixing. The second one (Stink. Ring.) is all diffrent layers recorded with my crappy webcam and then mixed into diffrent types and well... yeah it's me screaming and doing sound. I agree, what? That's simply not true... ... You do NOT kick ass :) No seriously, I haven't been working on DKC recently but I really would like to finish the run and be a part of it. But I've been busy and lack of motivation so.. yeah.. I hope I'll countinue with the run some day soon. :) Tata! // Arne the great

It's finally done :) About the game first, it's not a bad game but it's not very good. It's an ok game which seems suitable for a TAS. Enough to have kept me entertained. I've seen WIPs and helped Tompa some and yeah. A well made run. Yes vote Edit: Congratulations btw. Not only on your first submission but also at your 18:th birthday. ^^ Edit2: Um... I just saw the final boss, and I wanted to say that it was rather stupid to destroy the balls or whatever they are at the edge of the stages, they only give life. When you come back, redo the boss.

THIS is probably what Tompa was talking about. Btw, it uses the 1.1 PAL version. I dunno about 1.0 and it probably won't work on the NTSC. I tested a bit further and this version of the game seems to be a lot easier to walljump and you glide inside the wall for a couple pixels. About the run, I really liked this one. A lot of nice moves and the entertainment was excellent. Good job. Yes vote.

Too bad this run is so hard to watch. I think I can agree with the argument that it would be more entertaining if it was made to show synchronization between the games and it's input. However, even though I find this so hard to watch, there is something beautiful about this run. Art. I think this is something very epic. Something that proves what well-used tool-assistence can do. Should be a great example of tool-assistence. Also what I said on IRC: "‹Arne_the_great› This run is like taking a dump, eating, sleeping and having sex at the same time <3 Very confusing but very satisfying." I will vote, Yes.

First to post! Alright! This TAS got the same "wtf" feeling as sonic advance does, it moves so fast that the camera doesn't keep up. Although I never really played the game I was entertained by it, it's short and is full of action and is wellmade. Yes vote. :)

I don't think we need to switch to PAL just because Mario runs a bit faster, I would like to leave it up to the TASer but however to bash the PAL version more, the world map i about 7% slower in PAL and that would probably make it even more slower. Although we should have in mind that it actually could be faster and we need to test more things, I suspect PAL have faster bosses (bowser?).

I don't know if this has been brought up before, if it has, I'm sorry about that. I may have done some mistakes here but I don't think I have. I was playing the Eu version of SMW and noticed that the speed value was 63 and realized later that it was because it run on 50 frames and I started testing if the E version could've been faster and it seems like it is. 63 * 50 means the speed is 3150 per second on the E version. 51 * 60 means the speed is 3060 per second on the U version. So in theory it should be faster so I tested it out on YI2. From restart without the hop glitch the frame counts looks something like this: YI 2 (no hop glitch): (E) (1.1): 1400 (28) - 2749 (54,98) = 1349 (26,98) (U) (1.0): 1596 (26,6) - 3265 (54,41666..) = 1669 (27,8166..) The numbers inside the ( ) is how many seconds. you can see that the E version is a lot slower at starting the game but the time inside the level is slightly faster. With the hop glitch: The E version YI2 was: 1320 (26,4) The U version YI2 was: 1631 (27,18333...) With the flying: (E) (1.1): 113 - 1396 = 1283 (25,66) (I accidently flied at 63 instead of 64) (U) (1.0): 125 - 1698 = 1573 (26,21666...) So the E version is indeed moving faster but I don't know these things between the levels and such things like that. But I would like to see this tested out a bit more. I also noticed that on the E version you can Jump a bit higher/longer, for example the first castle before the door you can jump over the whole gap without grabbing the net. You do also "fly" higher. I'm sorry if this was confusing but this is how I think. I hope this helps in some way though I'm not sure at all that the E version is faster. // Arne the great Edit: Btw, THIS should be faster at least. I bowser could be faster on PAL too. I don't think this could save any time on the any% but it might save time on the full.

I'm sorry that I haven't done anything lately but I'd grown so sick of DKC2. But now I've started the any% again, I am for the moment on rattle battle but all the testing is driving me insane. :) The thing about DKC2 that makes me nuts is that it's too much. I find something that looks promising and then I have to test maybe a hundred things and none of it works. I'm always so close to save big time but the game seems to hate me. If the game just registrated a level as completed when you hit the goal target (it does registrate "start-select completed") I could've saved maybe 250 seconds :/ But I just wanted to tell everyone that I've started it again and later on I may try the 102% or maybe DKC 101% again. :)

I think this trick will be useful and can be used at a lot other places: Bowser's castle Donut Secret house This trick can of course be done faster than these examples but they show the principle. It's easy to perform so test it out yourself. And this is something with the same trick but with a weird death: Death bug I think this trick will at least save time in the first room in bowser's castle. Enjoy.

I am still working on Any% but it takes time because I test out so much diffrent things and I don't sit all day working on it because I'm busy with other things. I'm currently on Rattle battle. And I'm studying a lot about the rather odd glitches.

I discovered this trick when I just played around at the last boss and got this result. And later on I tried at diffrent places and on bombman rematch I got this result and Bablo said that when you died you didn't have to fight the rematches. The trick can do wierd things and it works to fly when gutsman shake the ground too. Here is the trick used on bombman doing wierd stuff: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1731/rockman-Bombman-fly And I wonder if you can fly to get the goal target earlier?

My boss fight is still 335 frames faster :) And there is a lot other small things that can be improved by some frames and sometimes seconds but I guess I have to improve this later on when I'm done with my any% :)

ARG!! I was working all afternoon on Kreepy Krow to no avail. I alternated different frames on entering the boss, and still haven't finished it. Egg #1: no problem Egg #2: No problem Egg #4: no problem most of the time Egg #3: PROBLEM!!!!! I can't seem to get the first egg on #3 to hit the ground. I'm not 100% sure if I did find the "sweet spot" frame to enter where the drop is 1,1,1,1. I tested like 6-7 and came up with 1,1,2,1 , 1,1,2,4 , 1,1,2,1 , 1,1,2,5 , 1,1,2,5 (you get the idea) why can't I get Egg #3 to drop the way I want it? I'll keep trying, anyone know how I can finish this boos who've I've been stuck at for a week or two?
I had problem with one egg too but my only tip is to test diffrent frames to enter and choose the best one and try at least to match mine boss fight. Edit: wierd spelling and I'm adding a comment about the 102% later.

Some text that are too long to quote :)
http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1632/DKC2-BONUS-TEST.smv That link may work better. The only thing I can tell by the krow boss is to test diffrent frames to enter the boss with frame advance till you come to the best possible, I had to sacrifice 8 frames. And I'm pretty sure you can't do Lost World K.rool before the regular because you need 75 (?) kremkoins and you get one by K.rool and I would recommend to skip the first Lost world and take it after you complete k.rool. And remember that you have to visit each kong at least once. And I think it might be possible with a reset after the boss? Sorry for bad english, I'm too lazy right now. Edit: I think you need a special version of snes9x to be able to record resets and I think you have to ask nitsuja about it. Edit again: I found it I think, I'll test the reset thing. http://filexoom.com/files/1094/record_reset_snes9x.zip Edit yet again: You can reset when the credits start so you would save a lot of time that way so be sure to use the one I just posted and use frame advance and make everything as perfect as possible and then I mean perfect as in using 300+ in a shortcut and do not rely on the speedrun tactics too much either. I thought of doing this after I did any% but I doubt it now because I'm so sick of this game :( But I could always improve yours :D Well... good luck

I've been away and lazy but now I'm working on the any% wip again. And about the 102% WIP I must say I'm disappointed and saw many places for improvement but I don't want to start nagging but I recommend to see my WIP and compare places to be just as fast. For example is my Krow's Nest 610 frames faster. But the only way I found to manipulate the eggs is to enter the stage at diffrent frames so you must sacrifice some frames. And try to match mine boss. And the speedrun tactic isn't necessary the fastest, for example This bonus has a faster tactic And the speedrun may aim for the fastest In-game timer (only counts the stage time)

Looks very good so far. Just wondering why you didn't use the goal-switch trick in all stages? best of luck with the rest of your run
The goal-switch trick is not always useful, for example in the first level it could maybe save 1 or 2 frames but then I have to use dixie in the next level and she's a lot slower. I'm done with Crocodile Cauldron and I have saved 1342 (22,36^ seconds) frames mostly because of the two bosses. Download And I will be away the whole next week.

I ran into some trouble which caused a little delay in the progress but I'm done with Topsail Trouble now and I've saved 215 frames in total, mostly because of Lockjaw's Locker and the "goal-switch" trick. I will save maybe 150 frames on the boss if I remember correctly because dixie's "jam" takes less time than diddy's. Early WIP, Topsail Trouble done. Edit: So for your information the fastest thing to do is to have dixie each time I complete a boss or just hits the goal target hard. Now I have trouble manipulate the boss and the only way seems to be slower on the map and I must be much slower then :/ Ok not that much slower when I took a closer look, but I still don't like being slower :/ 8 frames seems to be optimal.

Thanks for the comments, they really motivate me. :) And I discovered a new trick again: Goal target character switch: Very simple trick where you change character and the character you're supposed to change to stands on the goal target and will trigger the goal directly and change character without wasting any really time. It saves about 30 frames each time on a goal target instead of jumping and I expect that the trick will save 310 frames on the two first worlds. Demonstration: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1370/SWITCHgoal.smv Another funny thing, floating cannonball: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1373/funnything.smv Useless of course. I will be away for the weekend but when I'm back I'll start TASíng the first worlds.

It will take some time before I start TAS it because I got a lot of planning and figure out how to do some glitches, but I will start soon and post WIPs. I redid the end of the Castle Crush test run and now it's 5581 frames, 93 seconds, faster and I think that it will be 95-100 seconds faster. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1354/Kopia%20av%20Castle%20Crush%20test%20run.smv I found two places in Chain Link Chamber for the backwards switch and I think there is more places where it can be useful, I post the demonstration when I succeed (It's very hard) Damn it's a hard trick :/ this will take a while. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1355/Chain-test-tricks.smv I succeeded with two backwards switch which I think both will save time (If done more smooth) But the last one where I stopped seems to be impossible to do but I think that one can save time if done very smooth. Edit: I suspect that the backwards switch got something to do with the scrolling :/ But I can't say for sure.

Thanks. So you're back now as a married man? Congratulation. Well... about 90 - 120 seconds is what I expect. And thanks to you all for your really nice comments, I appreciate it.
