I don't even. The best part was probably that you actually collected the chaos ring, proving that even with all that crazy zipping around you did in fact actually collect all souls. Yes vote.

Dolphin frame advance was broken a long time ago in two manners. One is fixed, the other is still broken and makes tasing nigh impossible. 4.0 rev5400 or 5401 is apparently the last that works properly in both manners.

Wow, I have no words for this. If this ever turns out to be possible, this game will be destroyed. Sub 40? What a joke, why not sub 30, everything seems possible with TASing!
Except stable sync, or so it seems. That trick is pretty cool, and gives me a new look at metroid primes husk. It's like a scary face.

Try placing bizhawks location to somewhere that either isn't on C:\, or into a base directory like C:\bizhawk\. As far as performance goes, I'd almost suggest overclocking your 920 a bit if you have a decent cooler, because those things overclock solidly.

Varies by person, really. I'd probably finish my entire backlog if I had a couple of people who could actually check the work out, or offer suggestions or ideas for strategies on irc and bug me about it every now and then. Given that requires knowledge of the game(s) in question though, it's quite unlikely.

If you compare the end point timing to be the same as the previous movie, it's actually more like 2:52:59.46. I didn't really watch it in detail though, so I can't comment on it at this point, maybe later.

I just updated to FF 38 (from 15) and tried checking if 60fps vids worked. They don’t seem to be. I activated the HTML5 player from YT’s page, but all I’m getting for quality settings is “Auto” and “360p”, even on videos with 1080p60. If I go to the Flash player I can select 1080p, but it’s not 60fps. What’s going on?/quote] I had a similar issue (was using waterfox 18), except I didn't have flash installed so I only had the html5 player with auto/360p. I recently did a complete wipe of firefox including profiles and did a fresh install of the 64bit dev version of firefox 40 and it works fine now. If you planned on doing something similar, make a copy of any password lists if required and note down your extensions I guess.

A little disappointing that the Julius fight didn't get boss music, but kind of expected I guess given you can't normally access him. Also a shame you can't actually access chaos to kill him as the final boss instead. Great run, ULE vote.

Now that I've watched the run, I can give my completely biased opinion. To paraphrase what someone once said on a board elsewhere: "When you can't beat an existing record category, make a new one". This category to me feels completely arbitrary, and brings nothing new to the table. No vote.

I feel that this run is indeed well done, especially given a >8 minute improvement with a more accurate emulator, but as far as entertainment goes it's kind of lacking. Due to the length, some author commentary subtitles or such would've went really well with it since you can't really see what's going on in menus, and the text is effectively unreadable (even if you can understand japanese) due to the extremely short period of time it's present on screen. I give this a weak yes vote. Good job though.

That vidoe made me go "What!?" much like alucard in SotN. Your play stats are terrible though tompa.

I just watched this one, and then compared it to the currently published run for reference. This run wins on speed, sure, but the published run clearly destroys it in terms of entertainment provided. No vote.

Having watched various wips of this as it progressed, I'm glad to see it finally submitted. Also the subtitles are quite solid on this run, definitely fits the "bulk of my submission text" comment. Easily a yes vote.

Wouldn't it have been more prudent to have someone capable update the movie file of the prior submission rather than re-submitting?

That's crazy, I can only wonder how much tighter it could get. I also like how it has a custom emblem of "TAS" on the side.

So does that let you keep morph ball and grappling hook from the start? Also what do accurate loads have to do with that?

Watching this movie in an emulator is practically a mandatory reequirement. The included subtitles make the run far less confusing to watch in regards to what's occuring, or why certain things are done. Having never played the game when I was younger, I can but wonder "how the hell are you supposed to find half that shit?" Easily a yes vote.

I must say I'm satisfied that chapter 4 and 5 didn't keep the pattern that chapter 1-3 had, which was player 1 getting and keeping a distinct score lead over player 2. Especially a laugh in chapter 5.

I'm fairly sure that you can't get the heart container in kuwangers stage without either charged ice, kuwangers weapon, or the dash boots, leaving you with a mandatory revisit no matter how you slice it.

I feel like the mid route was just as fast as the left, except that it didn't do the concrete shot on the third bomb dispenser while dropping (instead using it after landing and jumping again), so it's not really a fair comparison on that regard.

It's almost a shame that a 4 player run would actually probably be a bit less entertaining than this, due to not being able to glitch your way to victory and having to do things the 'normal' way.

Why did you use the European version? It was released in North America under a different name (Trace Memory): http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/924898-trace-memory/data
I don't think that's really a relevant matter on a handheld system, compared to the old pal/ntfs console differences. On the topic of the game itself, since I own it, I don't really feel that it's an appropriate game for a tas but I'll check it out later.

Can you explain what the phantom grab actually is, or why it works if you know how (since I couldn't find any information on it anywhere at all, and that it appears to be a v1.0 exclusive trick)?
