Actually, on multiple occasions Xaphan used enemy weapons, just not usually against bosses.
I'm with truncated on this, limiting yourself in ways you can possible attack is kind of like shooting yourself in the foot, the results aren't exactly desirable.

I voted no.
After having watched this movie, I say there are about 4 good parts in the entire thing, three of which are fatalities, and one round of the him vs himself (with fatality) fight.
Watching a very easy AI get hammered just doesn't seem the same when a difficulty level actually does something regarding AI (as opposed to say, *cough*aria of sorrow*cough* where it only increases hp/weakens your characters power, thus having no meaning).
Also, wasting in excess of 25 seconds at some points just to make the glitch fatality work is far from entertaining, especially since it involves you repeating the same specific moves every time, and jumping around like the character is on springs to avoid attacks while (seemingly) lining yourself up for a specific position.

Nitsuja, any plans for Sonic 1?
Sonic 1 probably isnt as good a candidate due to lack of spindash and such, although sonic 1 is coming out for gba in about 2 weeks, so maybe that might be something.

Though I do not know how many of you had the chance to play Megaman ZX (I imported it from the states, I could not wait...)
I've finished Rockman ZX about 5 times now, its great :P
So If anyone has an idea of how he managed to do that?
My bet is he has a high spec system, was using desmume, and used a program such as fraps while playing to record said gif's. although if he was, those are rather jerky, and not as smooth as actual gameplay would be.
Personally I get about 15-20fps with desmume on Rockman ZX, which while by no means is great, I'm still able to play the game with the occasional graphical screwup.
On a different note, should a DS tas emu become available, I'm going to give this game a whirl and see how I do :)
slight edit: He's definitely using an emulator, when he's on overdrive mode or such as Lx, one of the 'trail images' faces the wrong way slightly above his/her head.

Incase you didn't know, you can't 'minor edit' submissions.
Ok, I just finished watching it a few minutes ago. My vote is 'meh'.
I can see that it's well played, but at the same time I feel the game was a bit slow paced, and I ended up fastforwarding through a few parts. There was a fair amount of noticible lag in the game too, but I guess that's not really your fault, although killing things earlier or perhaps taking a hit instead of using the cape to kill an enemy could reduce it a little in places.

For a place to upload wips, you could use microstorage, it supports several formats and is easy usable. Personally I'd love to see a wip of this game, its probably the best one out of the 4.

remember that you can use whatever blue soul you currently have equipped to help force a manipulation, that's what I did for red minotaur (used great armor for a few frames).

Hot damn, this was good.
adjusted version, finishes at the last frame of text.
Final time: 31:51, 114635 frames.
For reference, this movie actually works on Rockman X 2 (J).smc, as the only difference between this and the other is the fact its overdumped. Both contain the sprite error on the bike though.
I loved how you beat some of the bosses, such as using the black hole on Cristar Mymine, I totally didn't expect that. "shadow rockman" was cool too against the Magne Hyakulegger miniboss, did that make you invulnerable to his shots or was that just your close proximity to him?
Either way, total yes vote.
edit: just wondering, how much time do you think is saved just by the version change? Just curious, although I doubt its too much.

Ok,since I haven't watched this at all, I'm unfamiliar on whether or not you've gotten a spoiled milk, but if you haven't, what was your plan after getting a lubicant soul (since I recall reading you saying you'd be doing damageless)? It does effectively nothing unless you lose health.
Also, I think getting a killer mantle soul was faster, it only takes a few hits, and the 6x frame 'got soul' window (and then theres the equipping and such, but i think it was still faster), as opposed to just outright killing a red minotaur by hits.
Lightning doll maybe as a compromise of sorts?

After all of the Pokémon Games released for the GBA, I have to wonder. Are there going to be versions of Diamond and Pearl for the GBA as well?
Not a chance. diamond and pearl are for ds alone.
In regards to the topic, I'm thinkign either machop/cubone + pikachu, or pikachu + <pokemon> would be the best choice, pikachu would help since you'd probably be able to manipulate a thunder tm to appear early on, which would help greatly on the legendary birds, and cubone/machop have some physical power.

Darn these TAS' that take more time to obtain the rom and such than it does to watch them.
yes vote from me, this was surprisingly entertaining for such a short movie, you walk what looks like half a tile, and beat the game.

If this works it can save time especially due to the Julius battle.
For the first part of the battle julius takes 4 hits before going invincible, you'd be doing minimal damage and wasting time if you did it, at least in the first half.

-Aims for highest score (1 853 502 total points)
Considering the previous ssb movie attempt got a score higher than this (2,144,192) in less than half the time, this is a poor attempt.
No vote, for several reasons including missed attacks, poor playing, and complete non-use of frameadvance (or even 3/6% speed).

I gave that emulator a shot yesterday. The version that has savestates and somewhat customizable controls is as dodgy as hell, it crashes if you press like 3 buttons at once.
I then proceeded to download v 0.4.0, which is far more stable yet doesn't have savestate/somewhat custom control configuration. Although it still emulates slowly, and not entirely correctly (Rockman ZX was the game I used as a test), it's definitely a step forward when it comes to DS emulation, far better than iDeaS since it doesn't use lame plugins.
Also quite nice that the emulator has a memory viewer among other things that could be used for TAS purposes once it gets refined a little.

no sakugarne used :(
yes vote though, for a well done and entertaining run. I like how you get health and it doesn't actually pause while it fills up :)

This one gets a no vote from me.
Firstly, it's an autoscroller, which are generally considerably limited in terms of entertainment ability.
Secondly, you play with a similar objective to that of morimoto's gradius runs, which get speed powerups only. Letting stuff live gets boring. destruction ftw.
I'd say I just don't find this particular 'style' generally entertaining overall, since it's complete autoscrolling for the entire thing. Something like a level or 2 in super mario world that autoscrolls is fine, as they use varying ways in an attempt to entertain the viewer. In this run, it mostly consisted of you doing the same thing over and over again, getting repetetive.
