I mentioned this in my comments (pretty long, I know...), but your problem is probably with an FCEU glitch about PAL/NTSC mode. Rename the ROM file to something not containing (E) -- for example, "Super Turrican.nes". I've tested it in nitsuja's FCEU 98.15 and it synced fine using this trick. Hope this helps. The glitch is that FCEU will use PAL mode, regardless of your settings or the movie settings, if the movie name contains an "(E)".
That's a pretty damn stupid bug. after removing the (E), it did actually play fine. Was quite impressive too, love that vertical climbing speed :) yes vote.

I, conversely, cant even get this to sync past the first part of the first level. when I tried enabling/disabling pal emulation, it synced for about 10 seconds, and then crapped out. not to mention there were a surprisingly large amount of graphical glitches in that 10 second period. I think I'll pass from both watching and voting.

I know this has probably been asked a million times before but I'm new so gimme a break. Will Nesvideos be hosting PS2/NGC/Xbox speedrun videos? Because I see that most if not all of the speeds runs posted on this site is faster than the ones posted on speeddemosarchive.com. I would really like to see speedruns or crazy combos of current games.
No.

My logical guess is that you record the whole movie into a GMV file and then use FRAPS to capture the finished live action movie. The problem is that GEN emu just disables FRAPS when I hit the hotkey in order to capture it to AVI.
it can't seriously get much more straightforward than this.

Yeah. I dont have afford with anything, I only have 4000meseta. An Idea is to go back to lvling worm thingy and when I need refuel of HP and MP I RYUKA to the medic station and step on that pad and HINAS out and RYUKA back... and I lose 2sec. But I only have 5582 meseta at the start with the sandworms.. so that wont help me that much. I guess that I have to plan my route better. If im not guessing wrong you had a gear to Chaz at the air castle and a robe to Rune in the espermansion..
Well, while I'm not entirely sure on those two, you're probably right. I dont think the money issue from sandworms makes much difference, as that much wont buy you anything anyway. The real main thing I'm wondering about your plan so far is this: how exactly do you intend to kill <last boss name>? It has 3 forms, and if your current difficulty against lashiec is anything to go by, it'll be much worse at that point. It has 3 forms, uses megid (which would almost certainly be instant death), and is generally quite painful. I'd think that by the third form, at most you'd have 2 people left alive which it'd likely kill the next round with a megid, or a single attack. Overall, I still think levelling Rika a bit wouldn't hurt, as she gets some useful techniques and is quite strong. Did you consider getting the silver tusk for her too? As her strongest weapon, it also has a holy property, but i dont recall how far out of the way it is, but i think you can get it on dezolis when you first get the ice digger.

Yep I have. But since I have control over the fight by starting the rounds different frames I can manipulate the enemies. But It seams that you only can get one of thoose paralyzed every second fights. And thats is very bad. He only got "damage all" attacks besides that paralyz... and they have armor that they had from the start.
Ah, I see. I guess your lack of levelling has come back to bite you in the ass :P Perhaps buying some armor might be a good idea? although you probably dont have too much cash unless those sand worms are generous.

I dont hate you :P Lashiec is the one I hate. He wont do as I want him to do. I have been stuck here for a while now. :(
Did you try saner+barrier? would that give you just enough of a boost so that you could get in before lashiec each turn?

Just out of curiosity, would it have saved a hit on death adder if you had used level 6 magic at the end (or instead of doing a down thrust a normal one then magic?)? I figure it'd at least be worth asking, as I think I saw you miss a pot somewhere along the lines there.

I liked this movie, especially the water levels. He moves so fast! Just wondering though, what exactly happened in that stage where you were swimming with seemingly no water? that made me go wtf. Either way, easily yes.

Is it not possible to do a mid-air diagonal shinespark in this hack? Or am I just doing it wrong? You're not holding R. That's what you're doing wrong.

Interested in: GB Zelda: Link's Awakening, full run - Yikes, that's a spicy meatball! But I guess I have done longer projects, just not any Zelda projects...
I believe that Donamer was working on links awakening. I still tell him he sucks though for not doing LADX, which would be FAR more entertaining, since its in colour. Zero Mission 9% could be interesting though.
Not so much: Ocarina of Time - Well, there are about 305,326.13 pages that I haven't read about this game. Plus, N64 "fast-foward" on my computer is like 130% speed. Whee.
I hear ya on this one. HLE emulators = bleh.
Metroid Redesign any%. - That's just mean. :P Stupid whatever-I'm-supposed-to-do-after-Ice-Beam.
Well, I'd probably be able to do a reasonably good job on this, but there's that whole 'half the screen covered in memory values' thing. aswell as the fact of "would Bisqwit allow an exception for it?".
Super Mario Bros 2J (Lost Levels) - no warps - Someone was working at a very fast pace on the All-Stars version of this, but it suddenly stopped being updated.
I'd rather see the allstars version too myself, but a Luigi run :D

ok, I've done my lazy run that's rather shoddy but definitely gets the job done, you can grab it here. here is the patch you need to run this smv, for a headered rom. more or less the only route possible, at least that I'm aware of.

it doesn't matter to the emulator, however it does matter for the patch. if it doesn't work, try adding $200 bytes at the beginning of the rom prior to patching and see if that does anything.

I just realized that if you press jump button when you are dropping down from a ledge, you save about 20 frames. Landing point seems to be different since I can't hex edit it correctly. I'm quite noob at it :( edit: Since hex editing can't be done in jumping places, I started from beginning and gained 6 seconds before first boss :) Now I just have to manipulate the boss not to jump, which is tough.
While I haven't yet watched the new one, wouldn't restarting have been the perfect oppurtunity to switch the using 6 button instead of 3 (since 6 has those advantages over 3)?

Does it have any possible sequence breaks or is it as linear as Metroid Fusion?
As linear of Metroid Fusion? almost. You can't get the next thing without the previous thing. its evil. so no, you're more or less stuck on a specific path.

nope graveworm, you can't shortcharge in this hack. However, you can shorten the required distance to get a charge a little by holding A after 15-16 frames of holding right (or left, as it were). Serj: you need the ice beam, and the varia suit is in red brintsar. Frito: try checking the lower left area on the map a little more closely :P

Sorry... I have never played USA version. And I heard that USA version is skipped event of last stage. Therefore I thought USA version has advantage in timeattack, and I didn't submit my movie.
After seeing that event in the last stage, I thought that it might've had the advantage too, but it actually doesn't, since the glitch in stage 6 isn't present (~18 seconds and 10-12 seconds accordingly, the scene in stage 7 only takes about 20-22).
I upload it just to make sure. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1138/Assault%20Suits%20Valken%20fuzi2.smv
Thanks, I was hoping you'd do that. I shall cancel this one and see if I can improve it accordingly in a while, however I must ask you this question: how did you visibly power up the napalm, despite it not actually having any levels (although the damage dealt by it remained the same, as indicated by the memory watcher)?

Wow. If quite a few people are having a hard time doing this game, then a speedrun of the game, especially a 100% one, would be REALLY impressive to watch. O_o
No, despite how it may seem, a 100% run of this game would get rather boring, while an any% would be rather impressive. Trust me on this one.
I for one would love to see a speedrun of this game sometime.
Right now I'm just doing a rough route for others to look at and check out, I'm on my way to pick up gravity now (ingame time of 49? minutes, actual time of about 1:13).

Considering that's not directly over a spike pit (only 2 spike tiles are under it), I'm kind of wondering just how you manage to land in it. If you hold left or right while falling, you'd land on the platform just above the spikes, or the floor next to the spikes.

And NOW I'm stuck in a place where I need to wall-jump over spikes. And I can get like 3 or maybe 4 walljumps, but the walls are so far apart that I get like 1 or 2 tiles of height each iterationa nd always always mess up and fall on the spikes.
Can you actually show me a screenshot of this? I dont recall ever having to walljump above a spike pit with the exception of one place, where you need highjump (to which its rather easy to do after that).

I have a small idea on where I should head next, the u shaped room in eastern norfair. I've managed to climb to the top there, found the hidden passage and managed to get high enough to spot the door, but never high enough to actually jump there. The other way here leads me to a place where I need the grapple beam to progress further, just have a bad feeling that it's located on the top of the u shaped room...
Bzzzt! try looking more carefully at the lower corner of the U shaped room.
I've also encountered a few rooms with walljumping walls on both sides, but i can't seem to get up there, always landing a few pixels below the other side.
You need high jump for those.

Also, download the newest version of the patch, which makes a couple of things (like that reflector) a little clearer.
I downloaded the zip again, it's still marked as version 1.0, but has a different checksum. Do you know if it's safe to re-use my savestates, or at least the in-game-saves? (still stuck though, either there were no changes in this room, or the room was already in memory for whatever reasons)[/quote] yeah, you can use them fine. Go back the the 'U' shaped room. the answer lies there.

Okay, I fail to see how a missile hitting the ground makes a bridge, but okay. And I tried to shoot missiles at that place, but I did it when I was crouched in that area, so it did nothing.
shoot the missile and turn left slightly. you need to have the tile that it hits onscreen or it wont actually do anything. Also, download the newest version of the patch, which makes a couple of things (like that reflector) a little clearer.

Well, I've been going right in Crateria for a while and I ran into some lava, but I only have 1 energy tank and 7 missiles and no super missiles and no bombs, so I can't seem to do anything. The last thing I did was get the wall jump, but I ran into a dead end that had a pipe at the end after a bunch of spike rooms, so I went back up, past my ship, and jumped off a cliff to get there, and now I can't go back. And I didn't save, but it sure would be convenient to save in that room before the lava if there's no way back or no secret passage somewhere (I've been running into every wall I see, but maybe there's a spot I haven't gotten to). I wish my controllers would work. . . .
you should look up a grand total of one post, that'll reveal everything that you missed by not actually reading the replies :P

No, I mean according to that list of values nothing you equip will give you light arrows on B. Megaton hammer would mean doing like half of the fire temple, and I doubt that'd be a fun choice.
