Uhh, I wonder if anyone write a lua script that could draw a SVG picture -to- DS screen... a bit like the Alden script for mario paint.

I'm very disapointed that this deldup story is available for windows/wine only(similar feeling with the avisynth script, actually)... are you sure there aren't an equivalent for linux or with mencoder? edith: I'm not an expert either, but that "bit of difference" was quite noticeable in my previous experience.

Btw, thanks for the save states bad potato, i can watch the rest of the movie with them, because there aren't any more resets after the lucky wheels :) But still, I'm very confused why the movie only works for badpotato. It doesn't make any sense.
Hm, I shared my setting file and as I said, I didn't do anything special, I guess the problem isn't on particularly your side. Thought keep in mind, that your movie is one of the longuest TAS for vba and all these resets should probably push the emulator near the edge of his limits. If you got some time, you can try this on a virtual machine and hopefully get it working. Anyway, here more savestate and an encode(996mo), the sound from the last cutscene should cut off for several second, sorry about that.

I made some some savestate here and there, must of them are from the second half of the movie thought. Maybe that can help. ==> http://omploader.org/vNHJ4Zg/GS2-savestate.zip I'll try an encode but this is going to take some time.

I used the svn build called "v22 svn153", you can find it on this page. I used turbo and paused sometime to to a backup savestate, but I didn't have to use them.

Hi there, lately I was looking for some good open-source game, but since the wikipedia list or any other gamelist wasn't very efficient, I just decide to go ahead and make my own list. Also, there were request from coder here and there, maybe there few game that could do it and help them. Ok let's see... open source for windows-only a kind of rare for some reason. So while searching for those, I thought it could be easier to look for multi platform windows/linux game and so far I think this should do the job as a starting list. Now the only problem is that some game are only half-complete, so I just ignored some game that looked too primitive. But still, there project that require a deeper playthought to know how playable the game actualy is... I'll try to strocke them, if I try few one later. Most of these game are just raw link, but I alway make sure that the source was available around and legit. I converted the file with an old pxmconverter and it synced perfectly all the way to the Gremio death scene with pcsxrr v0.1.3a :) Here the new pxm with a savestate. I wonder how fast you can go thought the game. I turbo the whole run and I feel like the harder boss so far was the zombie dragon in your headquarter castle, because it require several level grinding. Now thinking about it, does the "bride glitch" is working on the boss? I remember watching a youtube video about that earlier... the guy skipped neclord that way, but took half his max money. I don't remember if I tested this either. You probably have only few frame, once you enter in the battle to do the glitch.

Cool subtitle, user friendly and the statistic for every world are'nt bad info either. Also it's impressive how much you saved only with lag elemination! Thought it's kind of a disappointment that you got lazy with the 1up by the last level. Instead you jumped around, while ignoring bullet... weak purpose and very annoying. But at least, the speed/entertainment tradeoff was good enough.

There was thread or a post talking about longplay and TAS, but I can't find it. Anyway, the main problem is that the TASvideos publications are all about superplay and put some "normalplay" next to it, would sadly just look wrong. Thought, if there could be a place where we could gather all longplay input file, this would certainly help the speedrunner to don't have to start completly from scratch when picking a new game. Sometime, it's true that starting completly from scratch is going ask a first playthought and this should help the taser to become more familiar with the game... but for the obscure 3D game and the long RPG, it's just going to be a pain. Also, been able to loadstate for the later events of the game is alway handy and those are probably helpfull for route planning. So yes, a new system or a place for stroring tool assisted playthought/longplay would be nice... but I won't recommend to encode them.

A year ago, I researched the game if it has a real ending. I found it has more than 50 stages. Probably it is endless. So I think it is a good idea to aim to complete 8 stages only. I'm considering improving his run and submitting the one here. Anyone interested in such a video?
Does after the 8 stage, the game is getting harder(more enemy/faster), or it just reset with the same thing as level 1? In that case, starting from savestate could be interesting. If you think about an "as fast as possible" run(capture 75%), I doubt it would be that impressive, but some people might enjoy it. 50 stage!? I can't say if this is endless, maybe using some cheat could help to confirm... but aiming for a specific score, could be an another idea, as well.

Definitly better than the title on DS, no cutscene and at least you you tried to entertain us for the ~5 seconds to spare on most mini-game. But still, I don't like how they keep recycling(with some variation) those mini-game already used, again and again. Meh.

Got a desynch right on the last stage with FCEU 0.98.16. Still, a very amazing run and the glitch at Stage 40 was unexpected. If you manage to keep the rerecount for each level that would be a good addition to text submission! Now, I'm interested about what might be the quickest friction level to clear the "stage 1 only"... but that would probably require more than 1 years to know as well :) Great bot, superb run.

The new lua function look great, but I think it could be usefull to keep some standard name just as is it for other emulator or at least the most important. Example: jpcrr.frameadvance() instead of jpcrr.next_frame() or make it working for both of them.

Use hotkey, while unpaused? Nice! I tried the Dammit script and it work fine here. But on my keyboard(cf layout) the "quote" hotkey is "#" instead. Also, it would be nice to have an another hotkey that load the last saved macro, rather than playbackfile = "myMacro.mis" in macro-options.lua everytime you record something. Thought, I'm somewhat confuse how you manage to do this... Could you post a sample script where I can trigger a part of my code when some key is pressed. (emulator used: pcsxrr) Example: I press the "w" hotkey and it print in the console "You pressed the 'w' hotkey."

I think there some special case, where game require some DOS command before running the executable. Maybe we should add a special category "Use DOS command". This is just like using the reset button on other platform, since this a console feature.

I can see the raw output with frameshow, but I can't figure out how I can capture this into a video format.

@wazkatango: Here an easy step by step to get JPC-RR r10.4 working from the beggining with this movie. First download JPC-rr r10.4, create a new folder and extract it there. Once it's done, download the floppy driver and move it in the disklibrary folder. (I suppose that on next version, someone will add already it...) Then download the game here (freeware), then create a new folder and extract all the game in it. After, you can run start-jpcrr.bat, there should 6 java windows that are going to popup. Focus on the "PC setting windows", select "floppy.img" next to the "fda image" label and press the "Assemble" button. Now take the JPC-RR windows and go to Drives > Import Image. Enter a new name for the game(example: skyroads-floppydisk). Press the "Image file/directory" button, browse up to the the aera where you created the skyroads folder and then you have to select the whole "skyroad folder". Choose "Hard Disk" instead of "Floppy Disk" for the the image type and import. Everything should be set up, so you can finaly download the input file, uncompress and go to Snapshot > Load > Movie, select "skyroads-tasv2.1-Ilari.jrsr", start it in System > Start and enjoy the movie in the VGA Monitor windows. --- That said, I woud like to know how you proceed for encoding with sound... and since there already a lua windows with JPC-rr, it would be nice to have an input display.

Alright, you made me realise that I can simply select a complete folder thought the windows explorer... now it sync and got the same primitive result as Aqfaq. Few improvement, good job.

If you happen to have another version of the game, keenmodding.org distributes a patch to convert your copy of the game to the appropriate version. Here is JPC-RR's ImageMaker's report on the disk image I used (note that the hard disk geometry is the default when specifying "Hard disk" in the image creation utility):
I patched the folder, but now I have no idea how to create the new image from that file, before importing(I doubt that I could import executable file alone)... You say there an option called ImageMaker? I probably missed something, but I'm unable to find such feature.
