Well, if you can't get any of your own music, you could always just rip songs out of the games that seem fitting. Like the piano song from Super Mario World, or the song from Ring Man's level in Mega Man 4. Just whatever sounds crazy and speedy.

I could make up some songs, but I have no idea where I would get people to perform them. I'm not even sure I could write down the songs properly for every instrument.

Well, my Lolo 2 project is still alive. I uploaded the first four floors of the game to my Geocities site, so you probably can't left-click this link and stuff. http://www.geocities.com/ryan_ferneau/lolo2.zip Critique it if you want! I need to know what to do differently!

Oh cool, I didn't know that. I guess it trashes whatever fractional counter it uses when it switches weapons then.

They kind of ruined the Breakman thing when they renamed Blues to Protoman.. because why would he have two ~man names? Breakman is to Blues as Rockman is to Rock.. but if Rock is Megaman, Protoman doesn't make sense being Breakman.
Oops, I always thought that Blues's superhero name was "Bluesman" for some reason, and that "Breakman" was just some code name he used when he was working for Dr. Wily. Or was he ever working for Dr. Wily? The story of the third game was never very clear to me. I think there's also some confusion about the Mega Buster (or Rock Buster). Some sites I've read that claim to have the official original story say that Mega/RockMan's gun has always been called the Mega/Rock Buster, but in Mega/Rock Man 4, it was upgraded to the Neo Rock Buster, hence its new charge-up capabilities. But a lot of American players believe his arm cannon wasn't called the "Mega Buster" at all until Mega Man 4, which it wasn't, at least not in any American documentation I've read. Mega Man 4's opening story mentions him going into battle equipped with his "new Mega Buster", where "new" could mean either that it's an all-new weapon, or that it's a new version of an existing weapon (so "new" would correspond to "Neo" in that case). But Mega Man's standard weapon is never referred to as anything but "P" in the first three games, which leads people to assume that it was just called a "plasma cannon" or "pea shooter" or something like that.

Yes, yes, I read about the 16-star trick right after I posted that message since I started browsing the user pages.

I've seen runs for individual stars, but not the entire game. Does it use the "long jump backwards up the stairs" trick to beat the game with only 31 stars?

Yeah, but then you have to sift through all the resulting sites that DON'T have the file. (Most of those sites also say things like, "We can't give you the ROM, but we're sure you can find it easily with a search engine, hyahhh hyahhh hyahhh! Can't let the IDSA bust us, hyahhh hyahhh!")

I started the Adventures of Lolo 2 run today. The first three rooms were pretty straightforward, but the fourth was tricky to find the fastest path for. I'm still not sure if I've got it quite right. (Note: I refer to Emerald Framers as "boxes" and to Heart Framers as "the Heart of the Cards".) Anyway, when I got to the fifth room of the first floor, I started fiddling around with Lolo's path to discover which path would finish the room the fastest without getting trapped by the Rockys. Eventually I realized that I could push both of the boxes just below the Medusas only half a space up to save time. So I started trying a path where I pushed the right box up by half, then the left box, grabbed the Heart of the Cards to the left of that, then came back for the Heart of the Cards in between the boxes. Well, this timed out so that Rocky caught me grabbing that second Heart of the Cards and came straight after me. But as I tried vainly to make a break for it, a wonderful glitch occurred, and I saw Rocky run right through Lolo, meaning I could still get past Rocky and save time. After some more tries I figured out how to repeat the glitch in that spot. It seems that what I have to do is line Lolo up with the box and keep walking to the right. He won't push the box because the next Heart of the Cards is in the way, but this somehow causes Rocky to pass straight through when he runs. It would be neat if someone could understand why this works so we could try to use the glitch in other levels.

Yes, but wasting energy can be fun, especially if it's an imaginative waste of energy.

Oh, but I liked that. You should make more with commentary. That first level video was helpful for my current "minimalist quest" where I get as little in the game as possible.

You can avoid all battles and win by kuck until you get her, then use her to level to where you need to be.
Yeah, I suppose that might work, that "winning by luck" stuff, since you can reload your game to try to make the bosses do something different. And Eve would be helpful in leveling up fast. So the trick here would be getting to that mountain as early as possible, despite its being the last area in the game.

I was praticing it just yesterday. It seems as though you need to spin quickly and push B almost after spinning, and I don't think you need to spin a whole 360.

Well, see, that's the thing... I don't think Eve can be taken to any place useful besides that one robot battle. But maybe you can figure out something.

Now I'm thinking about doing a Mother time attack again... See, you could probably use that "open the menu a step before battle" technique to avoid all the random battles, but there are a couple of battles that you have to fight and require you to be at a high level to fight, like the Dragon, and possibly Giegue. So I'm not sure how to go about it.
