Obviously some things like 8-sprites/scanline are gone, because those caused nothing but problems and flickering. But what about removing the 64 sprite total? Then it becomes, why not use sprites for everything to bump colors up to 7/tile instead of 4? Then, why not just use SNES-style, 16 colors/tile?
Hey, that's a good point. I'm sure a lot of people would like to see the MegaRockMan 7 graphic style one more time.

Yeah, just because a game has graphics from that era doesn't mean it was made for an old system. Haven't you ever seen people drop old, pixelated game sprites into their Macromedia Flash games?

So now that it's been a few months, the euphoria's worn off, and we can start tossing hate in the direction of Masahiro Sakurai?

However, you can see that they went for total authenticity in the audio department. You can hear that they bothered to limit the total number of sound channels, so when sound effects play, channels drop out of the music.
I don't really understand. Hardware was very limited back then, so games went to great lengths to try to circumvent those limits, but it was, naturally, not possible to do so in all cases. Now those annoying limits are a *good* thing? I don't get it. (I understand that some retro people might like the square and triangle wave sounds, but I don't understand how even the most consummated retro person enjoys music which breaks every time a sound effect is played.)
The weirdest thing is, didn't they remove that limitation for the Anniversary Collection games? Even if you agree with Blublu that it's somehow "artistic" to knock out random parts of the music, they're not being consistent with how that style is updated.

I was able to open the 2nd floor door using the key I got, but the basement door gave me the same message that appears when you try to open the 2nd floor door with the first key: "This key doesn't fit! Maybe it's for the basement..."
Did you try opening the basement before or after you opened the second floor?

Nah, 100% is about getting everything, not using everything. If the game doesn't even record the fact that you did something, then you definitely don't need to do it.

Sometimes the TV shows would make up lyrics for the songs, like Do the Mario and Sonic's Song.

Yeah, that's why I'm saying that VBA ought to have multiple screens within the same instance of the program, so they can be all neatly managed together.

VBA can't emulate it, but there is link system support in an unofficial version of VBA that seems to work by letting an application start as the server, then multiple instances of VBA (possibly on different computers, I assume) can connect to that server and think they're linking with other GBA systems. But it would be difficult to record such a thing into a movie and allow it to play back - certainly possible, but the modifications required would be substantial. (How to represent playback, 4-way split-screen by emulating 4 GBA systems simultaneously? My computer can barely emulate 1 at a time.)
I've been thinking about this. I don't really like the way VBALink does multiplayer. You have to open separate windows, meaning that for recording you would have to worry about keeping them synched up so they all start at the same time, receiving the same inputs from the system; but I don't think you can even use savestates the way it is now. And that may be okay for just playing a game with friends online. But the multiplayer in NO$GBA seems much more stable, and I would advocate mimicking that emulator when designing link support.

I've always been under the impression that it's up to Judges to work out whether the run follows the rules of the site, and the public to tell the judges if the run was enjoyable or not. While a fair few people have said they enjoyed the run, they either water it down to a meh or go as far as no as if they're saying "its a good run but keep it off my internetz!". Seriously, you either enjoyed it or you didn't..
What if my ability to enjoy a movie hinges on whether it should appear on nesvideos

My brother liked to sing along to the song in the scenes in Jet Force Gemini where your ship lands somewhere. I think it goes like "Whoop dee doo! This is dumb! You are bor-...... ing-me-out-of-my-skull, huhuhull, huhuhull, huhuhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhuhhull! (Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum...)" Okay, so it sort of breaks down after "You are boring". He would also change it to "You are boring me out of my brains!"
