Actually, I sometimes noticed some crackling in the old version when I had a game movie going for long enough, so maybe it's not a new problem.

Can you turn that off if you want to?

Heh, if you can get it to happen fast, go for it! I mean, you still have to fight the bosses normally anyway, right? Then you could find funny ways to goof around while the enemies start to suicide. Maybe even ALMOST suicide yourself!

I actually have issues with the site going the other way, where a good speed run that would have been appreciated in the old days gets rejected because it's not wild and crazy enough to keep someone with ADD glued to the screen.

And guess what? Had you read through all of my comments (which is something I do not think people are doing, which is a bad thing) you'll see that I was giving mature reasons for considering quitting or not.
Maybe everyone is reading your comments but then disregarding them because they think they're stupid.

They amount to the same thing anyway I mean, if 75% of the game is really identical to the other 25% like you seem to mean, then maybe you really shouldn't have bothered

Not really, not necessarily. Now you're just stretching the definition into a generalization. Maybe the community recognition is a nice byproduct and a motivator, but should it be the sole motivator? If you're considering quitting, then that shows that your sole motivation is being Mister "I'm showing off all the tricks first!"

Well the latter has the correct ending (inaction instead of murderous rage).. and has stage names (or whatever those are).. and both titles have an 'M' in them so they bypass normal delays.
I agree with your last two points, but how could murderous rage be incorrect? The murderous rage is awesome!

I think he means that playing a movie deletes the game's save file, since it will only sync up with an empty save (or whatever saved info it started with, if it uses SRAM). I'm pretty sure the only cure for that is to make a backup, unless there's a new version that does that for you...

So, what's the reasoning behind changing the Author field not being a feature in the emulator? Would it really be so bad?

A... patch? A patch to what exactly? Do you need to patch a universal graphics plugin to do that frame buffering stuff correctly and consistently, or do you need to patch the emulator core to make the buffering work right everywhere? Because I forget.

The evil king from Adventures of Lolo laughs evilly at the beginning of the game, but I don't think it's the same laugh.

No you won't! Feel the fury of Robbie Ridgeracer! Feel the non-water-cyclenessness and the door that opens except it doesn't!

Not a technical achievement by any means, but still very funny. This video has been duplicated so many times on the internet that tracking down the original creator is difficult. That's when you know a video is good.
From your description I was expecting another "diet cola and Mentos" demonstration.

I've played the entire original trilogy, plus #4, but that's about it. How come more people don't know the original trilogy?

Well, you could always do 4 fast run-throughs from a fresh game, then play Trial Mode. Right? And I could turn your earlier statement around by saying that "one hundred percent" is trivial when it's basically a high score run that avoids that fun strategic coin-collecting jazzamatazz.

Is there a list of speeds at which old computers ran anywhere, as some way to know exactly what number of cycles should be used?

We should start a Mama Luigi quotes topic! "That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!" "Good thing I found a magic balloon!" "You're dealing with a licensed plumber here!" "Cool it, caterpillar breath!" "(Yowlih) It's the lift-off that got me!" "Mario, wherever you are... HEEEYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEELP!" "And I found myself face-to-face with a FIRE SUMO!" "See, Yoshisaur? Nothing to be scared of in the water. EXCEPT THAT!"

Isn't Fifa a sports game? Or a sport-o sports guy? Or the guy from Super Metroid who uses ninja info cards? Anyway, my annoying roommate called it "toss videos" and I think that's silly.
