I've beaten CK1 in just under 5:30 before. However, like bobxp said, there is no reliable way to record it. If one is found, I would like to practice up again and submit it to SDA.

You could do the SNES version, or even DOOM for the SNES. With rerecording and all that jazz, It'd look pretty cool.

2 frames away from being 52 seconds faster after Level 7. I was able to skip two of the three hyena-fighting sections in this level, and as a result, only say Rafiki once. You'll get to see this when I finish it, because I'm too lazy to upload the WIP.

After level 6 (Hakuna Matata) I am 30:03 faster than Ouzo's movie. The main improvement comes from a vastly improved gorilla strategy. I even manage to hit him one more time, although it doesn't gain any time. See for yourself: http://fast.filespace.org/dan_/lion_king_v1_dan_.gmv I am expecting another large time-saver in the next level, due to me figuring out how to skip fighting the seemingly endless chain of hyenas.

Good, now I have a guide to attempt to better when I make my Mega Man 1 movie again. Hopefully, once I finish my Lion King movie I'll work on it. With frame-advance, I am expecting quite a nice result.

In all honesty, I recorded level 4 at realtime, simply because I didn't want to play a minute's worth of boring, running back and forth with frame-perfect escapes. If there's really a big desire to see a movie like that, then I suppose I can record one like that and then hex-edit it in.

Well, the hyena technique didn't save very much time at all, but I did manage to save a good chunk of time on level 5, Simba's Exile. After this level, I am 13:30 faster than your movie. http://www.geocities.com/aazurreco/dan-lionkingv1.zip Thanks to Zurreco for hosting this, Filespace.org isn't being friendly right now.

Sorry for the nitpicking, but your avatar is too large. I believe 80 x 80 is the limit.

Would it also be possible to remap the save-state buttons and load-state buttons? That would be a deciding factor on whether or not I make movies for SNES9x.

A submission would be pointless if you're going to improve this. Even if you aren't, it would still be pointless because it can obviously be improved.

I am currently 5:23 (seconds:frames) ahead of Ouzo's movie after level 2. http://fast.filespace.org/dan_/lion_king_v1_dan_.gmv If I don't find any reason to change this level, then I will contine on with level 3 eventually. I am expecting a significant time increase here due to better hyena manipulation.

http://fast.filespace.org/dan_/lion_king_v1_dan_.gmv I finished level 1 3 seconds, 43 frames faster (3:43, 7^3 and a palindrome!) Barring any impulses to attempt to improve this some more or relevant criticism, I will work on level 2 next.

ever since that sonic 3 movie came out people have ripped other submissions (not only these sonic 2 ones, but other games too) to hell wanting perfection.
Last I checked, movies here were published because they displayed super-human feats of almost perfection. The S&K3 movie is a prime example of a super-human feat, and thus other movies get compared to it looking for the same quality of playing. Unfortunately, some movies get past this judging simply by having enough "yes" votes, but that's an entirely different rant.

Unfortunately, I must vote no. Although this is a good movie, I was able to improve level 1 by 2 seconds on a quick run-through of it. Maybe I will be motivated and actually make a full movie of this game.

It's not, unfortunately. Other priorities right now, as well as finals week, have taken precedence.

Does the steps to a random encounter reset when you access the menu, or am I thinking of a different game? I'm sure a menu access takes less time than a battle if that's the case.
That would be Mother for NES.

I voted yes. Despite the fact that I've never played this game before, I was entertained the whole 18 minutes. Good job.

I'd like to finish it up, but I don't like SNES9x the way it is, because you can't remap the keys to the way I like them. For example, you must press shift+f1 to save state in slot 1, then f1 to load that state, shift+f2 and f2 for state 2, etc. If someone would find a way to remap the buttons, I might find some motivation to complete this.

I got the invincibility because that was such a boring level, I decided to add in a little variety. If I remember right, you have to hit the alligator when his mouth is shut a few times to get him to open his mouth. I hit the boss of the game more often near the end of the fight because, like you said, he is closer to me than at the beginning of the fight.

Yes, I intend to power-level at the Criminal Caterpillar and the Master Criminal Worm at Dusty Dunes and Scaraba, respectively.

I have decided that I would like to create a movie of this, although I will probably wait for another release of SNES9x with button remapping. Anyways, I think it would be best to start doing some planning for it. First off, the fastest time I've heard of is 9:17:41, but that was with fast-forwarding through long speeches and such. However, I believe that, depending on how well randomness can be manipulated, I can get quite a better time than that. The only glitch that I know of is the Rock Candy trick, which, while time-consuming to do, would probably be beneficial. It all depends on how much money I can scrounge up while rushing through as quickly as I can. I will now be playing though it, testing out various things, discovering how the randomness works, etc. If anyone would like to help me learn a thing or two about this game, I'd be happy if you assisted, especially you people who know quite a bit about coding and the like :P

I was playing Halo 2 during the New Year transition. Does that make me some pathetic loser who needs to get a life?

Nice job. I saw nothing wrong with the route. Once you get everything optimized (jumping as soon as possible, no missed shots, etc.) and improve the bosses a bit (the fire boss will be a fun one to perfect), this will get an easy yes vote from me.
