Uhhh... X and X2 aren't in the Anniversary Collection. It has MM1-8, and Power Fighters 1 & 2.

If I recall correctly, either Power Fighters 1 or 2 calls "Rock Monster" the Yellow Devil.

The only wasted shots were those magnet beams in Wily 1, and could you do me a favor and kick me real hard in the pants? I cannot believe I let that slip. I will cancel my submission and redo it from there, because that was just stupid of me. All hits I took were timed so that it was faster to get hit there than to wait for an oppurtunity to go by unharmed. Also, other than those stupid magnet beam shots at Wily 1, no other shots were wasted. Regarding that glitch, it only works in special situations, and it doesn't even save time in all of them. A lot of times it helped to either save the magnet beam (which is needed to do the glitch) or to just play through the spot normally because it was faster that way. Also, when stuck in walls, I have only discovered how to go left, so that also limits the places where it can be used.

I've heard that this is Phil & Genisto's next project, but I welcome the competition :)

Also it would be really nice to be able to change slowdown and speedup. These (and the things Blechy mentioned) are the main things that are keeping me from time-attacking SNES games right now.

I've decided to start on this game. Here are my times. Mega Man 1 Gutsman -- 7234 frames -- 2:20 Elecman -- 17284 frames -- 5:45 Cutman -- 24004 frames -- 8:00 However, there is about 13 seconds before you actually get to the game itself, and also the pause glitch doesn't work for attacking enemies. It does work for other things, though, which is quite useful. And also, you can't fire the 3 shots as quickly as possible, there is a pause between them which is really annoying.

But how would you record the Wily Tower, if you have to use a savestate to get to it? Considering the way rerecording works, the movie would go out of sync as soon as you load the state to play it.

This is the type of thing I had in mind for my Monthly Challenge. If we could have more people focusing on less games, then the videos would be much more refined, as shown in this thread. Even if only 2 people participate, it's shown here that you can still achieve amazing improvements.

I actually like Blublu's idea more than mine. Isn't that kinda what the folks at QdQ (Quake done Quick) do?

Finished with a total time of 9:14.6, which means it is 34.9 seconds faster than Nifboy's video. Check the link for more comments. http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?mode=view&id=80

I think we should chose a game each month (or week, or however long you want) and everybody focus on time-attacking that game. Then, at the end of the month (or week, or whatever) the fastest time could get published at Bisqwit's site. I'm sure we could get some really good times on games because like I said earlier, competition breeds perfection. We could have one game per system per month, i.e. Legend of Zelda for NES, CastleVania IV for SNES, and Sonic 1 for Genesis, and then next month switch games. Either that, or we could just focus on one game per month, such as Legend of Zelda for the first month, and then CastleVania IV the second month, and so on. Anybody have any input to this?

I'm currently improving on Nifboy's movie of this game. One of the main ways I'm gaining time is taking hits in order to progress quicker. I just finished level 1 and I'm 24.6 seconds faster than Nifboy's movie. Done with level 2 and 27.8 seconds ahead. Level 3 done and a total of 28.3 seconds faster. Level 4 over and 30.1 faster.

Finished with a time of 31:39 http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?mode=view&id=78 It's only 21 seconds slower than mazzeneko's version, and I used the expert difficulty :) Actually, I was ahead if it until Medusa's second form which takes forever on expert.

I fixed it, it appears it was IE being retarded. I don't know what's wrong with blip, though.

A cookie so that you always are logged in would be nice. It's kinda annoying having to log in everytime you open up the site again.

This is taken from page 42 of the Metriod Fusion instruction booklet. "WARNING: Copyting of any Nintendo game is illegal and is strictly prohibited by domestic and international intellectual property laws. "Back-up" or "archival" copies are not authorized and are not necessary to protect your software. Violators will be prosecuted." Now, that sounds to me like any ROM of any game made by Nintendo is illegal, even if it is a back-up. However, the only problem is that the last sentence isn't enforced really, considering the mainstream use of ROMs nowadays.

Yeah, that's pretty much correct, except FF4(j) is harder than the FF2 that was released in the US.

It's more like FF1, except with a better plot, much longer, actual side quests, and a primitive job system like in FF5. I'd say it's probably one of the best games for the NES, and definately the best RPG for it. If you can find a translated rom, download it, you won't regret it.

Uhhh, it desyncs for me like right at the beginning of the movie. On the second screen with enemies, he runs into one and dies.

Too late :P I think it's an accomplishment putting up with this game long enough to beat it so quickly, so I sent it in for the world to see.

Version 2 of this horrible game is done. From now on all runs (if there are any more) will be done on hard mode, including this one. My time is 2:43.95. I will also be submitting this one to Bisqwit, in case anybody cared. http://dannyfowler.150m.com/gens_movies/dark_castle.zip
