Actually, I'm pretty sure Gens presses pause once the movie ends for no reason. Just unpause it and it'll work fine.

http://dannyfowler.150m.com/gens_movies/rocketknight_v2_dan_.gmv Remember, you need the PAL rom to play the movie correctly.

Final time = 6:44.33, which is an improvement of about 56 seconds. If anybody knows a good website where I can put my movies on so you can download them, I would appreciate it if you let me know. It's a lot easier for you to download them than for me to email them to you.

Yup, that's the ticket to a faster time, killing enemies faster.

On your version 3 movie, the guy wasn't in the right spot when you stopped the movie, so he just bounced up and down even though the flag was there. You should probably fix it so that he is actually on the flag :)

I am in the process of making a better version. Here are my times, with the improvement over your time next to them. The times were measured when the words "100000 pts" disappear from the screen." level 1 - 1:25 - 10 sec. faster level 2 - 2:38 - 15 sec. faster level 3 - 3:58 - 30 sec. faster level 4 - 5:40 - 47 sec. faster

@#$! that's a lot of rerecordings. My movie has about that many total, and I thought it had a ton of rerecordings. Well, that means that your new version will be pretty sweet, at least.

Version 2 completed with a final time of 34:20.10, which yields an improvement of 1:43.74. Again, if someone wants to host it, tell me and i'll send it over. You'll still need the PAL rom to watch the movie until Bisqwit or someone else decides to have Genesis .avi's on their site. There are a few possible improvements that could be made for v3, such as ending levels with less life to reduce the bonus points, and also some techniques that i've thought of that could save a little on walking around. Still, I can only see a few more seconds being shaved off, so i'd say that under 34 min would be dang close to perfect. However, i've pretty much played this game to death, so I won't be making v3 for a while to come, unless I get some strange impulse to play RKA again.

I always use escape to pause it. I'm so used to using the original Gens, I guess I didn't even notice a quickpause feature.

I had a feeling the "size on disk" was increasing in increments, considering I would add a couple frames to the movie and that "size on disk" wouldn't go up at all. Thanks for clearing it up, Boco. Time to retime all of my movies (ugh)

Please tell me, do you use the "size" or "size on disk" when determining the movie length. I'm using Windows XP, and it gives me two different sizes. I know I really should have asked this earlier, but for some reason I just assumed to use "size on disk" and now i'm getting the feeling that that was the wrong choice...

Good job, some of those bosses take a while to kill. It looks kinda funny how Mickey is jumping everywhere, almost as if he's skipping :)

I, personally, prefer fastest completion runs. I think it's cooler to see a game completed in a crazy-fast speed than to see it completed really-fast with some extra things added in to look cooler. Oh, and crazy-fast is faster than really-fast :)

Well, I've decided to start work on version 2 of Rocket Knight Adventures. So far I've completed level 1. Here are my times, with the improvement next to them. level 1 - 4:27 - 7 seconds faster level 2 - 9:19 - 23 seconds faster level 3 - 12:46 - 57 seconds faster level 4 - 15:46 - 60 seconds faster level 5 - 21:48 - 60 seconds faster level 6 - 27:20 - 61 seconds faster

I'm glad you're working on a new version. While the other one was really good, I saw some definate spots for improvement. Good luck with version 2 :)

Gauntlet 4 has an ending to the quest mode. You can do that mode instead of the arcade mode.

Finally completed. The final time is 36:03.84. It could be improved by a minute or two maybe, but I don't see under 30 min as possible. This game has too many auto-scrolling parts to knock off that much time. But you never know, someone could come and surprise me with a sub-30 min time. If anyone wants to host this movie for download, pm me and i'll email it to you, that'll make it easier for me because then I wouldn't have to email it to everybody who wants to see it.

Off topic/shameless plug -- www.vgmuseum.com has over 2000 video game endings if you ever want to see them. There's a ton (literally :) ) and it keeps growing.

I'm just going level by level, make a savestate at the beginning of each level, and then playing it through a couple times, and then recording it finally. Oh, and I decided to go off of in-game time units, because as was mentioned in the Sonic 2 thread, if you beat a level too fast, you get a massive time bonus which takes a while to add in to your score. Here's my times so far. Green Hill Zone Act 1 - 0:27 Act 2 - 0:24 Act 3 - 0:53

The voting results will just prove that Chrono Trigger is a more popular game than A Link to the Past, if CT wins. It won't prove that it is a better game. CjayC stated at the beginning of the contest that it is nothing more than a popularity contest.

I'll be trying out this game next. I won't be getting all the emeralds, because that could get pretty boring. Anybody else wanna try with me? Competition breeds perfection, you know.

Until I find out what's wrong with my RKA movie, i'll be working on this game. I've only played it once before, so i'll have to beat it a couple times to get the hang of it, and then i'll start recording. Hmmm... after playing through a bit, I have come to the conclusion that this movie would be boring. There isn't much to the levels besides running and jumping, and the bosses take too long to be fun to watch. If anyone else wants to give this a try but finds a way to make it exciting, go ahead, be my guest.
