2) Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3
  • A showdown to the death with your trainer and mentor in a field of flowers. its a perfect ending to the perfect game. also, when boss's life gets below half, the intrumental version of "snake eater" sets in and gets gradually louder until someone wins the battle. i think its beautiful.
I second this, and would also add Col. Volgin (from the same game) to the list. Both of these people's actions leading up to their battles made me really want to beat them up by the time I was finally able to fight them.

If that's not against the rules here, I don't know what is.

Why not do all of the campaigns? If this movie gets published, they don't have to make an .avi out of it, due to massive length. Just include savestates at the start of each campaign for easy fast-forwarding. Also, it should hopefully be easy to hex-edit improved missions in, making it easy to improve individual levels without having to redo the entire 6-hour run.

From the Rules page: "As exceptions, we allow these patches to be used: * Super Mario Bros 2j - 24 stars: This patch sets the number of game completions to 24 in Super Mario Bros 2j. It allows accessing the hidden worlds without having to complete the game 8 times. This patch may only be used on the Famicom Disk System version of Super Mario Bros 2j. "

http://www.twingalaxies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6168 For the clicking-impaired: The verified world record at Twin Galaxies and time to beat for the bounty is now at 54 minutes. C'mon Deviance, time to show this guy a thing or two :P

No freaking way. I'll be leaving about when you get back :P I had no idea I wasn't the only LDS member here. I guess I didn't really put forth any effort to find out, but oh well. Well, good luck on your mission, and it's doubtful that I'll have remade RKA before you get back, so someone else will have to do that for me.

I'm with Radix on this one, I think that a non-flute version of this game should play all the levels as well. This means no clouds or juke boxes, and you should kill all the hammer bros., even the fire bros. in world 2. Also make sure you play all the levels in world 6, even the optional ones. But that's just me.

Are negative numbers considered prime? If so, then I'd assume subtracting would be okay, since it's just adding negative numbers.

I think Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) deserves the title of "most famous hack," IMO.

(2?)! + √2 is approximately 7, does that count?

I still finish the first stage 17 frames ahead of you. However, you finished the first section of the first stage a little bit ahead of me, but you lost time at the boss. Despite this, I'm inclined to vote yes anyway because I have found another hobby so I doubt I'll make any progress on any TAS for a while...

I thought ROB just randomly pushed buttons so that you could play Gyromite with only one person.

After level 1, I am 45 frames faster than you. However, it's interesting to note that I gained 43 of those 45 frames on the level portion. I only gained 2 frames on the boss. Maybe now I'll be motivated to finish this movie. Too bad that's a rare commodity in my life at the moment :P

Later I'll compare this with my WIP which completes level 1. If you're faster and I can't see any room for improvement, then I'll vote yes. Otherwise, I'll vote no and hurry up with my improved version :P

As far as I know, the whip has nothing to do with it. I've actually been able to hurt Dracula's first form on occasion by jumping into him. You just need to be super lucky and hit him at the right frame, or something like that. I might research this more later, but I doubt it because I'm lazy.

Don't you mean "in lieu"? This nitpicking will never end. :P
Silly goose, puctuation goes inside of quotation marks. Thus, it should read "in lieu?" instead. I love the English language. :P

If you really want to be picky like that Zurreco, then quit saying "anyways." "Anyways" is the colloquial form of "anyway." That's personally one thing that bugs me regarding grammar, akin to how you dislike people using apostrophes to create plural forms of words. I also don't like it when people mix up then/than or their/there/they're or to/too/two or your/you're, which happen all too much unfortunately.

According to NSRT, my rom is a (possible) bad dump. I'll restart with a good dump when I get back.

Well, I'm leaving for a week or two so I guess I'll post what progress I have. Not much, actually. I am currently trying to perfect the secret passage in The Temple Infernus, and it's not going too well. I need to get above the leftmost wheel before it crosses paths with the second wheel on the right wall. I can get really close, but not quite close enough. I'll try some more when I get back. http://www.filespace.org/dan_/Skyblazer_v1_dan_.smv

It seems like you can't skip any levels. If you try to, the old man at the next checkpoint doesn't let you go any further. Also, the powerups you learn are given to you in a set order. Certain levels don't give you certain powers, as I thought it was before. Also, it appears as though there is no way to get to the extra old dude's hut by the water palace. If anyone can help me confirm this, I would be grateful. Once I get the super-dash from the first boss, things will speed up quite a bit. That is, assuming I can manipulate enemy drops as I would like. It appears as though the frame you kill an enemy effects the drop, but position/attack used probably influence this too. That's about all I have so far. The bosses I'm not looking forward to are the water temple's boss and the boss of the game's final form. The ice temple and the tower's bosses will be boring fights too. The ice temple not as much so, but I see no way of speeding up the tower's boss, other than hitting him as soon as his eye opens up. The worst thing is, I have to fight him twice :P Strangly, you don't have to fight the air temple's boss twice though. He's a wuss though, so it's alright.

I hadn't watched the movie at Vortiginous, so I guess there aren't any true speedruns out there that I know of. I say go for it!
