Does this mean you'll make a new video soon?

For me, it desynced 6 times in the first menu screen (player selection), 3 times in fight with Ranma and once in fight against Shampoo. Very unstable. Can't watch it. :-/

Sonic moves as fast in this movie as Rockman in Rockman 1/2 when zipping through walls. Really. Which is a good thing for x264 because it can use frameref to compress motion efficiently :)

the delay has nothing to do with the quality, but watching Nitsuja's run first certainly does
So how were you doing when compared to Nitsuja's run? In other words, $repeat_Baxter's_question.

Why? Does it become better or worse whether you delay it or not?

I'm glad to read that. Please continue. Good luck! And please post WIP movies (WIP=work-in-progress) once in a while. :)

But has anyone ever heard of Metroid Legacy? It's a really cool modificated version Super Metroid, like Super Demo World but for Super Metroid. ;P It can be gotten at http://sukamax.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hackrom.html. And it's the upper right picture, the one of Norfair.
There are a few other hacks on that page as well. Have you compared the other hacks? How Legacy compares to them?

So you decided to ignore the "before posting, please read the FAQ" message anyway? The FAQ answers your question, you know...

You could use a level editor as well.

Approximately 25-26 months I think. The forum is a few months younger. Ps: I don't vouch for the factuality of that graph.

Computer programming, Japanese anime, hmm, now I'm going to driving school. I do work a lot. At work, I do computer programming. Occasionally, maybe one in year, I may stumble upon an addictive game that will take weeks of my time, and then I won't touch it again. Usually those games have been SNES RPGs. I don't play games otherwise. Sometimes I do play Go (囲碁) though. I also like swimming and bicycling in Finnish summer. Recently, I've grown concerned about some Finland law-making issues. The copyright law stuff and digital rights managements (drm) are going very fast downhill in Finland, following the example of USA, at this moment. We are in a situation where laws are being made by people who don't understand the technical implications of them, and they only listen to the record industry which is already way beyond the sane business tactics (rootkit-assisted copyprotection, anyone?). (In the same political tone, I kind of hate EU. Read the linked article for one of the reasons.)

The ninja rank doesn't come from accomplishing something that nobody accomplished before. It comes from accomplishing something that nobody even dreamed of, creating something novel, new.

My question is this: if someone submits a run that can be improved, why is it accepted?
That's the thing ― we don't see the future. We can't make a better movie than what we know the means how to. Records are records until they're beaten, and until then, they're indeed, records. People who haven't made these movies often think that it's easy to make the movies with tools, "cheating", but it's not so. You really need to have the creativity in order to break the accomplished standards and establish a new record. Such creativity doesn't appear in an instant. Nobody of us is enlightened.

This movie is hard to judge. It is very unusual. + The game has charm. It looks nice, it has familiar characters, it's well made. - You make mistakes. Intentional mistakes. It's difficult to enjoy those mistakes. + But you make impressive comebacks. Those are entertaining to watch. + Interesting maneuvers and shortcuts, too. The movie is over 40 minutes long, and I'm quite sure it wouldn't keep my attention held for the whole time. Even less so than say, Arc's first versions of Jackie Chan. My vote would be a very careful "yes". 60% yes and 40% no. But, per McBAIN's suggestion, I downloaded some of those Japanese videos too... (Only two, I must admit.) I have to say they were interesting too, despite being speed-oriented. In that light, the "over 40 minutes long" gains some more weight on this movie's judgement, and my vote changed to a very careful "no". I am sorry. (I'm not judging the submission before a clear verdict enough is reached -- other judges are free to think differently.)

It reminds me of Karnov. Or Rush'n'Attack. With less fame than Karnov and much less charm than Rush'n'Attack. I don't doubt you played it well, but it doesn't look interesting to me. I'm voting "no". Also, for me it desyncs in stage 2 boss. Possibly I should disable left&right / up&down support for the movie to work properly.

This movie was made with two players playing two characters. Usually when we have a movie that's played by 1 player on 1 character, and a new submission comes that has 1 player playing 2 characters, the new submission will obsolete the old one (instead of becoming a new category). Now, there are two players, and I'm not sure what to do. (Disclaimer: I didn't watch this movie yet. (And thus, not voting either.))

Welcome to year 2006! It's a great improvement, and it's even obvious when watching, that you've actually thought of new unique, creative ways to play the situations of the game. Accepting this submission.
