The trick indeed has nothing to do with the level structure. It's probably doable in all rooms that can scroll either up or down. This one was performed by BisqBot (the last 35 frames of it). https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/bisqbot-rm2-scrollingtrick.fcm [EDIT: File updated. The input was simplified into the absolute minimum. Timing is the key.] BisqBot couldn't do it in Rockman 1 yet, but it's trying... [EDIT: After about 150000 tries, no success yet in Rockman 1.]

This isn't a famous game, and as such, nobody cares whether you complete the game in 2310 frames or 2320 frames. If it were the same author doing this, I'd accept it, but as it's a different author, doing a 3-frame improvement on a relatively unknown game on someone else's work, I am voting "no".

The author seems to have played very well, no complaint there. Also, the hack isn't really bad. It's just longish, and completely unknown in the world. It doesn't have what Super Demo World had -- wellknownness. This is my complaint. But it seems that the audience reception outweighs my complaint, so I'm accepting this submission.

1. Oh no, not again. (Sorry, I'd link to the previous one if I could find it.) 2. You did not read the Submission Instructions.
submission instructions wrote:
Please detail the version of the game. * If it's a USA version, write "USA". Do not write "US" or "U" or "U [!]" or "U.S.A.".
You wrote "united states". 3. It doesn't complete the game. It doesn't even provide anything new. Either you're making a bad joke or you haven't read the Rules either.
rules wrote:
The movie must be complete Your movie should begin from the console power-on/reset and end when the last decisive action has been delivered. If you lost the interest in the game while making the movie and the movie is incomplete, please don't submit it.
Rejecting. 4. This player nickname is not acceptable.

There are already enough improvements to warrant a new run, even if this technique doesn't work.

So it's not a flaw in the map, but a flaw in the code that changes that variable for some reason?
Perhaps. Maybe. Note that in both videos, an enemy (or enemy shot) was just exiting the screen at the moment Rockman was able to enter. Lag was also present...

There's another possible explanation. Disclaimer first: I only have knowledge of Rockman 1. But Rockman 2 is largely based on Rockman 1 code. In Rockman 1, there's a variable, CurrentStripeEndType at RAM address $26 responsible for marking the type of the end of the current stripe. 0=right, 1=up, 2=left, 3=down. It may also be 4, but the circumstances are unknown. But the point is, the variable is reused. Besides being loaded from the map data, it's sometimes also set during enemy AI handling. I don't understand fully yet how it works, but it could be what's responsible for this "shutter tech". Somehow, an interference with enemy actions and Rockman's actions cause the game to get wrong reading for the CurrentStripeEndType and as such, the game will do a right-scrolling when it's supposed to only do down-scrolling. If my theory is on the right tracks, this glitch may exist in Rockman 1 as well.

But even the most computer-illiterate people should still understand to look up the FAQ, for it stands for "frequently-asked questions". On my site, it's labelled as "Answers (FAQ)". It is linked to on every page of my site, including this one (see the blue text on the top of the page...). Here is the link in case you missed it. :) http://tasvideos.org/FAQ.html

Now that you mention it, Super Mario RPG is one too.

I'd prefer to extinquish this discussion (about comparison of hacks). Hack games are getting way too much attention on this site.

Are any of those hacks good enough to do a TAS which is acceptable to this site?
Perhaps, but do we want 5 rockman hack movies? (I don't!)

Rockman Exile. It's a Rockman Ⅱ hack. It can be found here: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Bingo/2392/kuwata/ (English page) Edit: We already have a Rockman Exile thread. http://tasvideos.org/forum/t/2983

That's interesting. I wonder what causes it. Maybe that particular room has been designed with having two exits -- down and right. It's technically possible by the level format (I use it in my hack, shown on the right). Ps: Thank you for updating your website, Finalfighter.

Next time don't buy a broken modem! Yeah that should fix it.
I'm starting to suspect that there is no ADSL modem capable of withstanding heavy P2P traffic. I've had bad luck with three different manufacturers already. Nokia (M10), A-Link (Roadrunner 44B, Roadrunner 44AP), Telewell (TW-EA501, the current one).

Yes, it went first down for 1.5 hours. I rebooted the ADSL modem and it came up a few minutes after that. After ~20 minutes, it went down again. I went sleeping, and when I woke up by morning, I rebooted the modem and the connections came back life a few minutes later. I was seeding/downloading about 10 torrent files during that night. At morning, I decreased the number by 4. The site stayed up. Perhaps there's a causal relation.

I recommend against trying to "improve" this movie. The author was not aiming for game clear speed. It's merely a demonstration of what happens when you have tons of speed upgrades.

What about an "Events" sticked topic or sub-forum? In the case of a sticked topic, the creator updating frequently, or sub-forum ppl just post events freely there, like the "Dream Contest" or even the "Smash bross chess"
Anyone can make those topics as they wish. Generally, I'm not taking part in them, and they're not Nesvideos features.

isn't the Star supposed to be an indication of movies suitable for people who just recently found this site and want an easy-to-watch, entertaining film with slick movement and tricks (IE. A movie where you don't have to know the very mechanics of the game to understand that something insane is going on)? I have no doubt whatsoever that this movie is well-played and very entertaining, but is it suitable for those who are new to TAS? Probably not.
Precisely. Although this movie is good, it won't get the "recommended" flag. This may change in future...

Video files are 60 fps too. None of our emulators emulate interlacing. They display all frames.
