The main reason is that hacked games are not as authentical as the official games. It doesn't feel as "right". I'm considering of allowing hacked games too, but it'd be somewhat hard to choose which games to allow and which not. The versions could also be confusing...

I've been thinking of creating a Chrono Trigger run, but I'm not as far as you yet. But I can't guarantee yet that my site will handle that kind of movies.

Yes - archeological interest. Movies created with that patch are not compatible with the upcoming release.

I've kinda stopped following the referrers lately. Yesterday some flabber.nl site or similar linked to the page and it caused a spike that made even Arc's site diminish a little in the referer statistics.

But what do you gain by refusing permission? Nothing.
Giving the permission would lose you a bit of the social pressure against people who selfishly use other people's work.

I remember there was an ending where you blow the whole place up, so you accomplish your mission but everyone dies in the proccess.
Oh, this is when you enter some special number to the nuclear reactor. I don't consider this as a good ending. It's similar to the "despite your efforts, the future refused to change" ending in Chrono Trigger.

why not take away the .fmv download?
I like when sites have them available, and therefore I want my site to have them too. I can not enforce will. All I can say is to state it.

Verdict has been reached. I do not allow the files downloaded from my site be sold as is or in any postprocessed form (such as taking FMV file and converting it to MPG format yourself).

My site is open for Genesis movies as well. However they will be stored in the submission queue until the site backend reform has taken place, which will take a few weeks. Just follow the regular submission procedure as described in the FAQ.

Works for me. Have you recently installed a firewall software that attempts to hide some information about your browsing, like the referer or something?

It works. Cool. :) I hadn't heard the Sonic level 1 theme music for like ... countless years.

The GMV is available at <address>.. The ROM I used was called "Sonic the Hedgehog (JUE) [!].bin" though I strongly urge you to go to the above URL and download the GMV before you worry about finding the matching ROM.
The file links on that page will give 404. It's good that way, because linking to ROM sites is not allowed on this board.

I hope the new glitches are something you can take advantage of when just playing
The most often used glitch (using an item 1 to push you inside ceiling) is not difficult to invoke in regular play, but getting anything useful done there is challenging. Doing it constantly / in perfect time is nearly impossible.

I was just playing SMB1 on a NES last night and I was trying to do the thing in crazygodtechnique where he bounces off walls. I know this is used in other runs too but its practically every jump in that video. I bounced around for a little while but no results. Whats the trick? I can go ask somewhere else if this is too off topic.
Search the board using the Search function - this has been already discussed in some thread.

I'm in the process of getting rid of the "timeattack" words on the nesvideos site where possible, exactly because of the reason stated by Warp.

Since this will require adding additional code to the program, not modifying existing code, I think it's quite unlikely that this will ever happen. I'm not saying it's impossible (it has been done, eg. with many (s)nes rpg translations), but it's very difficult.
It's possible, and I think blip can do it and it'll be done. :) It'd be very useful too.

Assuming you use mIRC, I believe. Quakenet is not a common denominator in this.

FCE Ultra works just fine. But it doesn't have recording.

I've been doing some thinking recently. What are the chances of seeing a Grant-path run and a Trevor-only run of Castlevania 3, which would supplement the fastest run?
If someone makes these, they will not be rejected for the reason that they are slower than the Alucard route. (Of course they might be rejected if they look sloppy, just like always.) So it's an opportunity for the active.

If the ROM header looks like this: 00000000 4e 45 53 1a 08 00 21 44 69 73 6b 44 75 64 65 21 |NES...!DiskDude!| It must be changed to look like this: 00000000 4e 45 53 1a 08 00 21 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 |NES...!.........| That's all. Do not change the 7 first bytes though. One byte = two digits in hexadecimal display.
