Yes, this game's wonders lie in all the things you would miss if you do a timeattack :)

Have you tried using the Balloon tool in MM4 like Morimoto uses the "1" tool in MM2? They're very similar and I think it's definitely worth a try.
I have tried it. When you stand on the balloon, it goes down, not up. Thus it can't be used to shove Mega Man into the ceiling. Haven't verified how it acts for floor corners though.

I can't think that a timeattack of this game would be impressive. It'd be merely a walkthrough.

I don't see IP addresses in my BitTorrent client. But I can see them with netstat. Probably similar thing with Kazaa. Lesson: Closing your eyes doesn't make you invisible.

BitTorrent is peer-to-peer traffic. This means that either you have to connect (your IP address has to be known, otherwise you can't be talked to) or you have to be connected (your IP address has to be known, otherwise you can't be connected to). There only ways around this are the same as in postal office. Use a remote box. But then also the files will end up there instead of in your computer. This is how Internet works. But it's not like revealing your IP address makes you suddenly a target for all kind of attacks. Not anymore than having your phone number listed in a telephone directory with names blanked out.

That's Finalfighter's site. He's the person who has done a lot of work exploring Rockman 2's glitches and those movies are the study material that will be used in the creation of the actual Rockman 2 timeattack, be it played by him or Morimoto or someone else. --SPOILER-- These tricks base basically on one fact: If you get inside a wall, weird things will follow. All of the Rockman / Mega Man games are based basically on the same engine, so if you find a way to put him inside a wall, you'll have access to at least these consequences: - Ultrafast movement horizontally (usually only rightwards) - Wrapping (access opposite edges of screen) I'm already on my way in Rockman 1, but I've also been drooling over Mega Man 3..6. So far I haven't found a way to do it in any of them. But I still recommend the authors of those movies to explore ways to abuse the collision checks. It's usually a matter of ONE pixel position that will take you inside a wall/ceiling instead of dropping/bouncing. Edit: 5: The fmv is no longer publicly available, deleted the link. Edit: 6: The profile URL pointed to wrong user, deleted the link.

You are supposed to eject the disk, change sides and reinsert the disk. I don't know how to perform those operations in RockNES. Familiarize yourself with the emulator you're using.

If someone wants to add subtitles for his timeattack, he can submit the subtitles in any of the following formats along with the actual fmv file: MicroDVD, SubRip, SubViewer, Sami, VPlayer, RT, SSA, AQTitle, JACOsub and MPsub.

In my opinion this glitch was cool and seeing the first levels played twice wasn't boring. A nice creative way to cut the time for completion. But you are entitled to your opinion. :)

The best thing about this game is that it spawned the knights of the old coding comic strip: http://kotoc.keenspace.com/ or http://comics.captainn.net/~kingauthor/ Totally hillarious.
Pretty funny. Wish my Mozilla didn't crash randomly when browsing that one...

Why can't you just say open source??? I always get confused when you say free :p
Because "open source" does not imply rights to do anything with the program. It only tells that you have a read-access to the source. An "open source" program could have all kinds of limitations to what you can do with it. They could deny you reusing the source anywhere or even compiling your own versions. They could say that whatever modifications you do, you must submit back to them. And so on. "Free software" means that you can do anything you want except decrease the freedoms or a copyright violation.

Well maybe I shouldn't have published this FMV file at all. I'll create an AVI for Zelda 2 when the improved version is finished.

Because the improvements to the videos haven't made them less interesting.

Ok, the slider patch is now also available in the Famtasia 5.1 Patch Vending Machine.

It was faster than the previous version and it didn't look less interesting.

To stay in the topic... I'm thinking that someone should learn how to choose better subjects for their messages :) What are everyone else thinking?

Planning needed, that's what I've been saying :) You can also get gems from monsters if you're lucky. (hint)

Why should you teleport back to those levels? How does it save time?
