Are you translating Japanese to Finnish, or Japanese to English to Finnish? Is there a Japanese-Finnish dictionary?
I use excite (en/ja translator), kakasi (kana/kanji/romaji conversion), kanjidict. (en/ja dictionary) and canna (engine behind an IME) to extend my Japanese basics. Finnish is not involved.

I've been meaning to make a suggestion: why not let people browse submitted .fmv files before they're approved for publishing on the front page?
Because I want to keep the quality/amount ratio as high as possible. [edit] Also, I think the page is updating often enough already. Maybe I think that movies that don't deserve to be published should not be published. Or, I'm just lazy. I want to keep a certain threshold on what is published on my page and what not. It's not a generic fmv file archive.

ZMV of course. AVI is a multimedia format - not ideal for storing game data :)

Yes, sounds easy... but what else do I need if I'm going to make videos like these NES videos found on Bisqwit's site?
If you are going to make that kind of videos on snes, you'll have to wait for the zsnes release that supports rerecording.

I don't usually do that, but I had this feeling that the movie wasn't as good as it should be. I wanted to prove it.

I may have done mistake when I accepted the Mike Tyson movie, but I think only complete movies should be there. From the beginning it has been important that the movies are not cut-paste collections, but complete playthroughs where earlier events influence later events. You can post single-level movies as educational material - like I did with the SMB2 6-3 piece above - but they are only demonstrations of what should be done in a complete movie.

You go to Morimoto's forum. Do you speak Japanese?
I speak gaijinese ;) I know some japanese, but I'm relying heavily on computer tools that convert between languages and transliterations.

Maybe he speaks only French. I've only heard of him via Phil.

You should put this users statistic as a direct link in the forum, just as the sites.
Nah... there's one similar function already in the user list. There's no good place for this. Just bookmark it if you're interested. :)

am I allowed to use Genisto's video and just redo the last few levels using the trick you just mentioned?
That's a dilemma I have been wondering too. I guess it's just something to negotiate between the players.

For some reason it won't let me view the video. Can you describe what the trick is?
Instead of going under the mountain in the quicksand, go right and place a shyguy on a pillar. Do a powersquat on him and you'll be able to jump over the mountain.

After you sent me the fmv file (version 4), I reviewed the first 10 levels of it and saw that it's quite suboptimal. I decided that I'll try the game myself and if I can't beat your time, I'll publish yours. Your time for levels 1-10 was 2:27. I got 1:55. Conclusion: Your movie won't be published as it's now. https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/bisqwit-wwoods-incomplete.fmv

When you think it's good enough to be published at my page, submit it according to the submission instructions. These forums are not meant for movie publications.

This video also confirms that the fastest time Wart can be beaten in is 35 seconds, no matter what you do.
Looks like quite many of the functions of the game are bound to the internal clock, not to any character actions. Nevertheless, Genisto's way of fighting Wart in this movie was the best I've seen. He didn't give Wart a chance to spit any bubbles at all!

I still wonder whether this trick could be used to save time in 6-3. https://files.tasvideos.org/smb2test1.avi

Genisto just submitted a 8:31 Super Mario Bros 2 timeattack - 12 seconds faster than Sleepz's. It's totally awesome and cool, despite it doesn't use the block-bouncing trick. (It does use a key-bouncing trick once though.) Michael, I hope you're doing better than this :)

I created the channel #nesvideos at the EnterTheGame network - irc.enterthegame.com. I selected that network because it's one I know that can be joined without having to know a server that might work with your ISP. Just select irc.enterthegame.com as your server. The channel isn't yet registered or anything - I'm unfamiliar with the procedures in that network. If someone wants to do it the right way, please go on :) Let's see whether this works.

Bad name for a title maybe, but it's based on post count. 50 posts is the threshold. Any ideas for new titles? :)

Does "total downloads" include the FMV files?
No. The data comes from the BItTorrent tracker.

Are you planning on turning this into an avi by any chance?
Not planning. Now that you got my attention, I wonder: what on earth do the "total downloads" and seed counts signifiy in that avi-less movie?? Humh.

This was the first Double Dragon timeattack movie I enjoyed watching. Congratulations.
