Star Tropics is an excellent adventure but totally unsuitable for timeattacks. Same goes for Willow, I'm afraid. I'm uncertain about Fester's Quest, and I don't have an opinion of the rest.

I enjoyed watching it. I played it shortly with a Tandy computer ages ago and I was surprised to know there's a NES version of it too.

I'm already making such a video, using the Japanese version, Link no Bouken. So far I've just reached Maze Island at 29 minutes 15 seconds, with about 90 seconds of load time that isn't in the US version (it's a FDS game). And that's not the best way - I could've shaved off about a minute if I'd been smarter about where I pick up keys. (for those unfamiliar with the game, Maze Island is the first location after reaching East Hyrule, which is approximately the halfway mark of the game. The world record for 100% completion is 1:36 or thereabouts, and this video seems able to finish under an hour.. I don't know any record for minimalist completion, but...)
すばらしいですよ。がんばってください :) Your movie will make a base for further recordbreakers. The load time isn't bad. It's realistic. :)

Excitebike could be really cool. At least it's very entertaining to play. 1x Mike Tyson's Punch Out has been submitted already - I haven't handled it yet.

It's up to you. Sounds like a normal and perfectly acceptable improvement.

How about Blades of Steel from Konami maybe!?
Can't imagine a timeattack on that being interesting. I still think it's better to improve existing movies than to find more games that would be only marginally interesting.

You guys remeber Ice-Hockey? That game were u choose between three types of players: one small, one medium and one large? How 'bout a video on that game with bouncing puck and no goalies? That would be awesome! =)
I once received a movie of Ice Hockey that did 20 goals in minimal time. The author told me that he's going to improve it somehow, but I haven't heard of him recently. However other types of playing are also possible. I'm not sure what would really be impressive - the computer players aren't particularly very skillful opponents.

Correct so far

and then press Record where you want to resume and select the same recording file?
But instead of this, you simply load a quicksave.

As said many times already on this board, it's good to take backups and verify the recording once in a while, to prevent such misfortunes. Read the previous posts for details.

it doesn't only work with MPlayer, i use BSPlayer to view all the runs on this site and it plays them flawlessly. ^-^
The setting I talked about doesn't make the movies unviewable with other systems. It just adds the correct aspect ratio.

You can always try to improve/outdo an existing movie. I'd accept an improvement movie much more happily than another game-x-completed-flawlessly movie. Quality is more important than quantity.

Maybe a bucky o' hare or lolo3 time-attack?
I don't know about bucky (never seen that game), but I think lolo3 isn't very interesting. It's interesting to play, but watching it is just about as interesting as watching someone solve a maze.

Let's see. I have started the recording of avi of all of those previous movies one or two times, but I've always got bored just watching it being recorded... and thus cancelled the attempt to create the avi.

Today I started adding an "aspect=4/3" setting to the libavcodec settings in mencoder commandline. The MPlayer manual tells this:
aspect=<x/y> Store movie aspect internally, just like MPEG
files. Much nicer solution than rescaling, be-
cause quality isn't decreased. Only MPlayer
will play these files correctly, other players
will display them with wrong aspect. The aspect
parameter can be given as a ratio or a floating
                               point number. Example:
                                  aspect=16/9, aspect=1.78
This has now the effect that the movies, when played fullscreen, are really played fullscreen instead of having black bars on the edges. I guess it works only with MPlayer, as the documentation suggests. If it works on your system, please tell me. The Jackie Chan, Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 2, Rush'n Attack and Hinotori movies are encoded using this settings.
