Maybe you should mention something about competition encouraging people to make better videos.
I can't think how to make that fit into the "purpose of these movies" topic.

Let's try..
It's a competition between who makes the fastest video. - This is only half true. We often compete for speed, but sometimes 2 two seconds slower movie has better chance to get published than a faster movie, if it keeps the audience entertained better. It all depends on various things, but generally more speed is better.

Maybe you should remove this quote from your site: "It's a competition between who makes the fastest video." I think competition is good. Competition encourages people to try harder and make better videos. If it wasn't for Deviance, me, and Arc, then Lezard might not have made such an awesome Kung Fu video.
Yes, maybe I should. I wrote it there to emphasize that the goal is to produce movies that are most interesting to watch. I'll think how to convey the message without that line.

Why would there be any technical details? It doesn't need to be fancy, it would just be the simplest page ever.
Because I don't want to overload myself with much work. It's better if things work with less effort - preferably automatically. Things that come to my mind are file naming and distinguishing. I receive sometimes files with the same name from multiple authors and/or from the same author.

Bisqwit should always precise what's the rom that works for these fmv to be sure it works.
I don't often quite well know that ether. Plus I don't want to clutter the page with too much information. However it's been asked a few times, so it's still on the planning list.

There's a 49:57 Zanac video by Yy, but it's not on Bisqwit's site, and it probably never will be because I don't think anyone could stand watching this game for that long.
I haven't handled it yet.

How about this idea. Make a new page on the nes videos site and call it something like fmv archive.z Put in it all the fmvs you ever got from anyone
Considerable - I'll think of the technical details of that.

As follows: I think those are enough, provided that saving and loading quicksaves affected the movie recording as it should :)

I used the very first two enemies to mix a Wheel ability. You can time the random switching and get whichever ability you may like.
I don't know how that is possible. The very first two enemies are far apart from each others - I couldn't suck them together. Also, only one of them is a special ability carrying enemy - you can't Mix a special and a regular enemy.

I haven't watched this yet, but I think I'll reject it because it's not significantly faster than the 2-player version that was released a few days ago.

Games don't rust by age. They are exactly as good games now as they were when they came out. That's what I think. And if you answer this with another "lol" I'll ignore you.

For rerecording, he said we'll have to redesign the movie format. I'll see what I can do.
The movie format doesn't have to be changed. The change has to be in the quicksave format - it must include a frame counter that can be used to seek in the recording when loading the quicksave. That's what I think - I'm not a zsnes developer or affiliated with the author of Famtasia. - In zsnes, a movie file contains a savestate for the beginning of the recording. In famtasia, movie file doesn't contain that - the movie starts always from reset, or from "current" position which rarely has any use. It would be useful if zsnes also had that "always from reset" option to make it easier to compare the durations of game completions. Though - my snes emulator of choice is snes9x - I would like to have those features in that instead :P

What is clumsy about ZSNES movie support?
Irrelevant if it doesn't support rerecording anyway. I was thinking about hotkeys or some other mechanism that allows to use the stop/play/record/quicksave/quickload+rerecord keys *instantly* (from the game perspective), without having to go searching the menues while the game is running.

Maybe something like this... Mm, I must be confusing people a lot by moving things around without warning :)

Run? I didn't know that :o Eep. I have to do it again. Well, it might be a good thing - I've learned a lot of the game dynamics during those 3 worlds of play so it's time to see if I can use them to improve the 1st world. Yes, almost all attacks do slow you down, but there are some attacks that you can do while running or while jumping. I also use some of the abilities extensively to move forward faster, like you mentioned too. Also, the game seems to slow down the more when there are more sprites on the screen, so it's important to keep their amount to minimum by killing the monsters before they do anything and by not shooting when there's nothing to shoot (the shots are sprites as well). Thank you for the link :)

I can't stop you, but I suggest you concentrate on some game that is more fun to watch... However, if you produce a Adventure Island movie that is interesting to watch (all 40 minutes of it), I'll publish it.

It seems like the forums are not as well defined as they should be. Mainly, the Games and NES Movies forums seem to collide - it's not certain where some posts should be posted in. Currently, the NES Movies forum seems to gather generic movie making and replaying related questions, whereas the Games forum works quite well as a place for discussing certain games. The names don't make that very apparent.

Doesn't look useful... My time is now 15:50 and I'm entering the 4th world. IRL, I go now sleeping. :)

I started making a timeattack movie at Kirby's Adventure. Given the length of the game, I estimate 25-40 minutes for its length. I completed the first world in about 4:20, and there are seven worlds. The game is quite straightforward, but it has lots of ways to play, which should give some room for creativity. I'm just beginning to learn its controls and dynamics. Do you have ideas/tips/tricks I could use in the making of this movie? One thing I've noticed is that the speed of this game is really dynamic, at least in Famtasia.

Fun to play doesn't equal fun to watch... More opinions? I will publish it if many people enough want it... (I already had forgot this one.)

Bubble Bobble is way too long for a timeattack. Renegade, as you already noticed, was found somewhat boring to watch. As for the others, I don't really know. Is Samurai Pizza Cats really a NES game?
