Note that saturated red on saturated blue is very likely to get blurred beyond recognition by chroma supersampling in video compression.

Well, thanks for sharing that information. ObNib1: Don't post meaningless posts to inflate your post count. ObNib2: Don't post worthless topics in the General forum. ObNib3: Don't start the message in the topic and continue in the message body. Always assume that the topic title (subject) may be ignored, and consider whether your message still makes sense. (But the subject should still be written properly, because it's what is used to determine whether the topic contains the information one wants to read.)

Yeah, I know about the airline regulations mostly, about shoes was new to me though. Re: Adaptors, I am working on finding one. And yeah, the Finnish entry in that tipping guide looks like guesswork by a foreigner. It is not correct.

Well, that is obviously what I intend to do. :) (Also, I'm not there yet.)

In Harlem. I don't know if that counts as suburbs.

What's the deal at around 33 minutes? You go fishing, but instead of catching a fish, you go swimming, and then leave with your rod. What follows after that doesn't make sense at all. You go around in various places releasing the bugs in your bottle, only to catch them again... What's the deal at 47:05 taking an aim, only to cancel it? Then when you actually do aim the hookshot, it's kinda slow, as if you played it in real time. (Interestingly, a moment later, Link plays his hookshot as if it were an ocarina.)

Any guidelines on local customs? Such as tipping. We don't tip in Finland. (People get paid for their work, by their employers, from the money we pay.)

All right, flights and hotel booked. I'll be staying from July 7th to 21st. Let's hope it doesn't come to this at the airport :) http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/7775/myfirstcavitysearchmb9.jpg

Case: Mario walks into the upstairs key door. Single variable.
In your example case, I think I'd be more likely to write like this.
if(!gotKeys) DoorText("You don't have a key!");
elseif(KeyType != DoorType) DoorText("This key is for a different door!");
else DoorText("Yay, entrance!");
Or in today's world:
foreach(Keys as key)
  if(key->Fits(door)) { DoorText("Yay, entrance!"); goto done; }
DoorText("No entrance without a valid key!");
done:;

You'll get screened going out because we don't want you bringing on things that could allow you to crash or, worse, control a plane and use it as a giant missile. By "we" I mean "the guv'ment". There's no point in screening you going out because you could just get whatever you needed on the street.
Ah, makes sense. (I presume you meant "coming in" in the last sentence.)

I'm not sure what I can say about Times Square. It's full of bright lights, I guess, but other than passing through it for passing through's sake, there's nothing interesting to see there.
Except occasional street performers, I suppose. (Though this, which I had intend to reference with, took place at Union Square.)

I don't think I should even attempt to arrange my leave to overlap with July 4th. As such an American celebration, it's not a party I'm party to, anyway. How fascinated would you be of the Finnish independence day? You know, if it wasn't dead boring.

I looked it up at Google Maps earlier, seems there's a lot of stuff there but nothing resembling a foundation of a building.

Not regularly, anyway, and I don't like beer in general. Though I liked a certain lemon flavored beer I had in Austria. I have forgot its brand though. EDIT: It was Radler. Thanks mr_roberts_z. Apologies for deleting your posts, but I cleaned up the thread a bit.

I notice this conference is being held outside the city. Are you staying in Manhattan and commuting to the conference? Or are you staying in Westchester while planning to visit New York City on your own time?
I haven't locked any schedule/location yet, but I think I'll stay in Manhattan (or somewhere around) and commute to the conference.

Unless you're on a strict schedule you might want to consider taking a $50 New York-Toronto flight and coming to Canada for a day or two.
That sounds like a cool idea as well.

Prepare to have the most unpleasant trip through security on your way back.
Wouldn't the most mad events take place when arriving, not when leaving? One wouldn't think that they'd be more concerned about terrorists coming to the country than of terrorists leaving the country :) Not to imply that I were one. Which I'm not. A terrorist, that is. :)* *) Counter-false lie? Ref. many comedy routines…

Turns out that due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be visiting NY for a week or two a month from now.* And I'm happy to oblige. I've never been to the States before. If someone wants to recommend me things to do and places to visit (and possibly people to meet) while there, I'm open for suggestions :) *) I'll be visiting ICWE 2008, flight & accommodation expenses paid by the company I work for. (For the conference time.)
