Looks great as usual. What about sprint shoes? Are you going to buy them at each person's individual town? Would it have been too much gold to buy two extra pairs in south figaro?

Haven't seen your movie. But I know it's on phil and genisto's list. If there are 8 balls available, that should look great.

Great job on the time. Personally, I greatly enjoy that linnom passes through the enemies WITHOUT killing them. It's the kind of timing that would be hard to execute on a console, whereas killing everyone would not be quite so. I'd like to know others opinions on this. If when you need to jump(keeping in mind it slows you), you throw a boomerang, when it returns to you will it travel behind you and hit any enemies there? If so perhaps this could be used, but I imagine them to work more like quick boomerangs, where they disappear if you're not there when it returns. I also believe the general consensus is that unlike most things in a time attack, when a level ends it is better to have no ammo than as much as possible. Take the 1-item metroid run(I think), for example. It uses up all its missles, and it makes you think not a missle could be spared, that every single one had to be planned.

I find Phil's movie to be more entertaining, mostly due to the simultaneous moves between the two characters, and a little due to the variation in moves as well. Angerfist, it is both hypocritical and contradictory to condemn somebody else for being bureaucratic, then stating it is your own opinion which would follow the bureaucracy. Phil decided not to exclusively use flying knees, because he thought it would get repetitive. I think he made the right choice. This movie is faster, sure, but it uses something explained in the description to be less entertaining. Perhaps a medium would be using flying knees, with both characters. I vote no on this movie, but I urge the author to keep trying.

It's on my "could be good" list. But I didn't remember that the screen scrolls slowly. Does it scroll slower than you can walk? Cause that would mean either a lot of screen dragging, or stalling for time waiting for it to catch up.

Looking forward to the new movie. On a side note, I was the one who voiced my opinion that they shouldn't get locked. When a thread is locked, booming conversations have either come to a halt, or had to awkwardly start in the game's topic. I think all run-specific commentary should go in its thread in the workbench, and not in the thread of the game.

NecroVMX brought this up in the Dragon Warrior thread. When I first considered this as a run, I would never be fun to watch. I haven't thought of it since Jyzero showed us all that RPGs can be entertaining, and now I'm reconsidering. It was my favorite game for a time, and upon playing it about a year ago I realized how, despite there being so many towns and available characters, how short it could possibly be. Possibly somebody who has enjoyed doing an RPG run in the time would consider it. A lot of planning would have to go into it. There is one FAQ available, at GameFAQs (check this page: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/game/8269.html) If I remember correctly, you cannot create/use more powerful spells until you actually talk to somebody and find out the reagents required, though I may be wrong about that. For this reason, the optimal party would probably be fighter-based(Fighter, Tinker). Which brings up another question. How big should the party be? Considering the power of luck manipulation, and how long it takes to travel to a town, I think 4 would be overkill. I'm not sure if sleep(I'm sure it's available) would work potentially as well as in Dragon Warrior, but if it does a mage, or magic-wielding fighter would be necessary. There is no luck manipulation involved in teleporting from town to town- only time. Any thoughts? [EDIT by feitclub - GameFAQs does not allow direct linking to files. Considering how great the power ring both looks and affects gametime, along with how fast he charges anyway, I don't think the warrior ring would benefit, perhaps even if it wasn't 20 seconds out of the way. Yes I forgot to mention, great job on the bosses as well(I tend to focus on negatives since they're more important to note). I had forgotten what sabera looked like and was looking forward to remembering, until she immediately died heh. Good show. One weird thing I noticed is that enemies need different distances to respawn sometimes. This was most obvious when leveling at the sorcerers in I think goa. Sometimes you had to walk almost down the stairs to respawn it, sometimes a little bit past. Same every other area in which you didn't leave the screen.

FINALLY got to watching it, after a period of not being at my computer. I sped through the leveling up like crazy, it was just as slow as I figured it'd be(not your fault). However, it was well done, and I know you weren't overly careful on perfection since you didn't plan on submitting it. The leveling was really painful though... I'd probably abstain when it came time to vote. Nonetheless, I can't think of anything in terms of actual route adjustment. As long as what you fight give the most experience over time for whatever level you are at the time, then you have no real changes to make. There were a few times where I felt you may have stayed leveling in one area too long- the Kirisa cave is all that comes to mind right now, which you mentioned in your post. By killing less at the door and killing more on the way, you could save your time, which I recognize that you figured out. There may have been other areas like this as well, I forget. If they could beat Stom at level 3, I'm sure you can at level 5. For those that did at level 3, did you lose to him before winning? Have you tried waiting outside his door before entering? Waiting between entering and talking to him? Stabbing him in various ways rather than as many times as possible(perhaps you can interrupt his stab with yours)? I like the use of the warp a lot. The planning paid off.

I think mine is 1700 something using the above route, but it's been years, and so that might be wrong. (Don't forget zoness in your route) Meteo is almost a necessity, with possibilities of over 300 in that stage alone.

If two movies are submitted, and they are the exact same times, whichever is submitted first will be published. However, it is very unlikely that two movies of a game such as Super Metroid wlil have the EXACT same times. Additionally, I think you are the only one who is working on Super Metroid. So basically, you do not need to worry. The only time your effort would be meaningless is if your current movie is slower than an existing movie.

I think this would look great. What would the optimal route be, for highest score? I always used Corneria-Meteo-Katina-Sector X-Macbeth-Area 6-Venom, and I think that would do well here. Though Zoness' huge amount of enemies might work out well...

Who knows, it may have been a learning experience. I'm sure he's put a lot of effort into it, and we await the result. If you'd like input, feel free to post your progress.

Angerfist likes your video. He knows you did not know about the rules, so thinks it should be published without the intro.

This past week, I played through banjo kazooie because it's great and I haven't beaten it in awhile. Now, when you complete the game with 100% items collected, a video is shown of secrets in the game which you cannot yet access. One of these videos features your character jumping up a series of difficult platforms, in order to reach the top of a mountain and reveal the secret that is there. However, when I was watching it this time, the character actually missed one of the jumps. He fell far down to the ground below, got up, and kept jumping as if he was still jumping up the platforms, only he was just flying into the wall at the bottom of the mountain. The video stopped and the next one commenced at the point where he WOULD have come across the secret, as it would normally. Desync was the only word that came to my head. Zurreco, did you have something to do with this?

That's surprising, I think it'll make it more interesting. About how long does it take to fully cycle through all teleportation points, anyway?

I'd say go for 2, but as you said, between level, item, and magic requirements, I don't know how much it'll help. edit: I remember the only thing I really used it for when playing the game(not under time constraints) was to get paralysis early. But that would hardly be useful here.

The closest thing I did was when N64 came out and nobody could get it, I managed to get one. However, even if you could get one the challenge was then getting one of the games. I managed to rent Super Mario 64 from blockbuster, buying a copy in that time. I didn't want to get rid of my saved game, so switched the blockbuster label from the rented one to the one I owned. So the one I have is actually blockbuster's. Also I won Turok:Evolution on ebay and it came in a blockbuster case, heh. I like to think of ways how that guy got his hands on that.

I'm sure we'd all love to see it. If you're working on a new run and consider this one obsolete, cancel the submission and start a thread in the SNES forum. Could post your WIP there while you're at it.

I'm still against the commentary. But if enough people want it, there are enough people here who are fluent in english that would help out. If you aren't happy with the way the movie is now, you're going to be a lot less happy with it when it's finalized, and you look back and see the mistakes you made early on. If you feel that way now, you should go back when you still have the chance. Nobody here minds waiting, as long as it doesn't hurt your morale enough so that you don't feel like continuing the project.
