I don't think so. I haven't quite gotten that high, but it's not so unusual for me to get 150-200 kB, though it doesn't happen often.

Ha, that's pretty cool. Bohemium Rhapsody sounded cool, though the other ones were pretty bad. I couldn't figure out what the second song was >_< Why did it say "hokage-sama" at around 6 minutes? :P I don't know any Japanese, but that line in English is "And bad mistakes"

The two most popular editors are Emacs and Vim As for the complier, though devcpp is good compiler-wise, I can't stand its editor, so I use mingw under cygwin, though that's perhaps a bit too complicated. Though if you don't want to install cygwin, I hear you run it under mysys. For a beginner though, devcpp is fine.

Well, it wouldn't be 100 percent completion without Epona, wouldn't it? What counts torwards this percentage? Just things you can see when you press start? If not, does getting the cow in your house count? etc...

OmnipotentEntity, could you please stop making so many edits? Everytime that someone makes an edit, it is reported in the irc channel, and all your edits disrupt the channel. Can't you make all of your edits all at once, instead of making 5 edits in a row? If you are making the edits because of typos, you might try using the 'Preview" button.

That applies to published movies, yes. I don't see anything wrong with him showing off a run though. However, for runs like this you shouldn't submit the run, but rather link to it from some other part in the forums.

What? I have no idea what you are asking. Could you rephrase your question?

I think that removing those lines of codes should remove the problem. I'll try compiling it later on to see if it works.

Why did you not use slowdown? Because of this, your movie no doubt contains many errors. Even if this shows lots of skill because you did it in real time, we don't care. We care about the final result, not the process by which you got to it. No movie will ever be accpeted here that does not utilize slowdown.

Nooo. I was about to start my smb full run in fceu, but that kind of ruins it. Let's see if I can get it to compile... Edit: I don't suppose this would be it, would it? if((JS & (0xC0<<x) ) == (0xC0<<x) ) JS&=~(0xC0<<x); if((JS & (0x30<<x) ) == (0x30<<x) ) JS&=~(0x30<<x); On line 334 of input.c

In other words, the movie file is as long as the point where it was the longest. So, you can delete the end of it if you really wanted to, though I woudn't, because it is too much work, and it doesn't affect anything other than the filesize.

Eh, I got to the very end and I couldn't figure out how to beat it >_< The movie wasn't that cool though. I think I have a link somewhere on the nes games forum though.

Yeah, it doesn't work that way. Even if it did, just forget about. Rerecord and file size don't even matter (not that you can affect file size), so don't even bother trying to fake them. I couldn't care less whether your rerecord count is 200 or 20000, as long as the movie is good enough. Yes, you can hack the file in about 20 seconds if you really wanted to, but no one cares.

It doesn't matter. They didn't want the site to appear on search engines when pokemon was searched.

They didn't sue either. That was a cease and desist letter, and said that they would sue if they did not comply. Oh, and you would be suprised at how dumb companies can be. This doesn't surprise me, though I agree that they went way too far.

Did you read? Yes, they threatened oo sue, but after the fuss that was raised (including two cover stories on slashdot), they apologized. So, no, they are not suing. Edit: Penny Arcade as well

This is the case for all the emus. Well, I'm not sure about gens, but it's true for the other ones.

I never owned an nes. The first thing I got was a genesis, which is for some reason one of my least favorite systems now :/

Yeah, please use many rerecords. I've seen just one (I think ) movie published where the number of rerecords is under 500. I've played a game where I've used up over 500 in 1 second of gametime. While the number of rerecords you use by no means affects whether or not your movie will be accepted, the greater is usually better. I would prefer a movie done thirty seconds faster with 10000 extra rerecords.

We are not going to accept movies that are obviously improvable. This site does not have movies that are played as well as the author feels like doing. It has movies that are as close to as perfect as possible. We're not going to waste the time to put bad movies up. No is going to enjoy them and they reflect poorly on the site. If you are not going to encode the movies and upload them, don't tell us to do it. Bisqwit and Phil don't want to go through the painstaking process to turn the movie files into avis if the movie will be obsoleted soon. If you want to make a run, and just link to the .fmv (or whatever) just to show people a basic idea of what to do, that is fine. But don't submit it if you can see any flaws in it. Period. edit: Fixed a confusing typo. -Blechy
