Although there are things more entertaining, even this TAS is probably entertaining enough to be published imo. I do wonder quite a bit about the quality... is it perfect? The TAS looks to me (like most N64 TASes) like it's TASed till the wanted result was achieved, and that version was taken. It doesn't look like everything that could possibly the fastest was tested... and this also shows a bit in the rerecord count. Especially the team yoshi battle and the end of the polygon team battle made me wonder if I was watching perfection, or just a version that looked ok. I still think it would be nice if an SSB TAS included tool assisted world records of all characters at break the targets and board the platforms. And that link Raiscan posted showed that this TAS misses out on a lot of potentially very entertaining things this game offers
Yeah, this is how I feel about the run. Some methods used to kill several polygons looked a little sub-optimal to me and that there could be a little improvement. Also the same method of killing the enimies got a little old, but I still found it entertaining. Lastly, skipping BtT and BtP wasnt entetaining at all, at least in my opinion. A meh vote from me. I liked the run, but I think it could be more entertaining.

if further optimized, could this blj be a faster method in bitfs? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgoWp4AmQ1U

thats actually a great idea aka! would restrict bljs and change possible a lot of stars routes, since long jumping wouldnt be allowed

another idea that myslef and others was a sm64 run trying to beat the game in the minimal amount of a button presses. while this would still equal a 70 star run (since you couldnt blj due to a presses) the run would be quite slow paced and boring in some places (swimming...). besides that, i think a blj-less 70 star run would be entertaining, so many route changes for stars, showing how the game was intended to be played, except perfectly, and what stars would prove the fastest for this. If this gets to be a popular idea, i would enjoy helping with the run and proposing routes and things.

While I would like to see a 70 star run (BLJ less, no the are not boring, but removing them would keep the run from being a 120 star run copy - 50 stars, and I'm sure plenty of entertaining strategies could be found instead of BLJ's), what I would really like to see is a playaround, because frankly the most entertaining videos of this game I have seen is those of Mario doing random extremely crazy stuff. Grabbing whatever stars you feel like, no restrictions on what glitches to use, and finish it in half an hour.
so more of like freerunning while completing it, like this 0 tas?

I'm surprised I haven't found a topic or submission of this game. Only thing I found on this site is that there may be a WIP one. Well, I decided to start TASing this game for the fun of it. I have currently completed a semi-optimal run of stages 1 and 2 to help provide an overall route. You can download the .m64 here if you would like to see it. From the little reasurch I've done, if you have the option to swing using a poll or to walk the distance, and if the pole is a good distance away, you should swing. Also, using the Chameleon's tounge for anything (mainly eating stuff and Z jumping) should be used only when needed since it slows you down. If anyone better TASer would like to help or contribute any information, it would be much appreciated.

up=w left=a down=s right-d a=space b-j z=l l=u r=o start=enter dpad=varies, sometimes the same as analog stick z for fast forward, x for speed increase, c for speed decrease, and \ for FA

at the door, while the water is raised, there seems to be a small barrier surrounding the door, so i would doubt bljing to it would be effective since mario would loose speed in the water -- also, at around 1:28 of the this vid, i found this strange way to slide along the waterfall, so could this possibly be a time saver, if fully optimized, for some of ttm's stars? -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wz9-Ij2Mxk4

i personally think it would be neat to see an optimal 16 star run with using mips as a must

About the bad dump thing i dunno(dont have that problem myself) but for the input thing i have experienced that if the keyboard is configured to full turning speed(75-128) the game will register a "down" key as "up". TAS input plugin and lower turning speed should fix it.
Works great tnx!

From 2 different sources, I have downloaded this rom, but it says it is a "bad dump". Also, when I'm not using the TAS plugin and the keyboard instead, the "down analog stick" buttion always seems to make whatever in the game go in the wrong direction. I have looked and made sure the input is correct (like the D analog works perfectly in sm64). Any ideas on what this is or a way to get rid of this?

Ok, I've had this error with mupen64 when a window will randomly pop up and says- Access violation- while processing graphics data an exception occured you may need to restart the emulator. Regardless of how many times I restart it or what-not, it will have that message pop up constatnly. I use jabos 1.6 for video if that makes a difference.

when i try to TAS this game, the graphics around yoshi become all messed up. is this because of a bad ROM, or something else?
