Very interesting watch... I wonder how much time would be saved with optimal movement, talking to some trainers to save time, better manipulated stats, buying a few items instead of picking them up, etc. And of those what could be changed without messing up the code execution.

Well that looked complicated. Shame you needed to move items around so much and reuse the coin case, but whatever gets the job done. The end result was really sweet! I did find myself fast forwarding a lot so I will give this a weak yes vote.

Sweet, you submitted it. As I posted on Youtube I found this run very entertaining and unique to the published runs. My favorite parts were the hover in DC and parts of the fire temple. Big yes vote.

I don't think I ever finished calculating it, but I vaguely remember calculating that doing a 16 star run (using the fastest 0 press stars) to Bowser 2 followed by BLJing on the stairs outside the 50 star door with a wallkick trick similar to the published 0 star run might be less presses than a 70 star run that doesn't BLJ. Again, records have changed since I looked into this but this may be the route if someone is interested in seeing the least presses needed to beat the game.

The end glitch is sweet and very unexpected. It's a shame though that such a large portion of the game must be played to execute this command. Would the "bad clone" used in standard glitched speedruns be considered save data corruption? If so than you could say that this would be a different category then the current glitched route (which I'd love to see a TAS of). Won't vote because I haven't watched everything, but skimming over the sped up video it looked like it wasn't fully optimized.

I randomly showed this run to a friend who had never really seen a TAS and they thought it was epic. Just thought I'd throw that in.

This is just me but I do think all levels/100% and any% would be good categories since this is basically a boss speedrun. I was entertained though and very shocked the game could be broken like that. Easy yes.

I've been waiting for this submission for years and it didn't disappoint me. Regardless of all the stuff I know about this game there were many moments that just left me in awe. Congratulations you guys for finishing such an amazing run!! Yes of course.

bobmario511 said that there are other differences with the glitch in LA GB, which perhaps he can elaborate on.
What I noticed when trying to do a no screen warp run using the doghouse glitch using the GB version was that the underworld tiles had rather different behavior than that of the GBC underworld (I had a kill count of 2 when testing this and had the same items as this run). Some tile differences are that the tiles that shoot link upwards in the GBC game just act like water in the GB. Another interesting thing is that you can't even enter the pit that leads to the nightmare boss because of the pit tiles being different (link just stands on top of them).

Most of the differences between the games that I can think of off the top of my head are no select glitch, certain text cant be skipped by bringing up the save menu, certain text can't be partially skipped by pressing b, and some of the text is longer. So they are very similar, but I think it's still interesting to have a glitched run on the DX version since it was a remake which they tried to remove tricks and all.

I know some people expressed some interest in a minimal A press run in the past. From the research I did a bit back looking at an any% run with minimal presses (this is going off memory) you can get 15 stars 'A' less, finish Bowser 1 in 2 presses (1 for the pipe and 1 earlier on around that yellow bridge that moves). Use mips to get into ddd, complete that star in 0-1 presses (the swimming would be terrible there). Then bowser 2 takes 1 press to get off the pole near the start of the level. From there, what I considered was would it take more presses to get 70 stars and not blj or to do a BLJ near the 50 star door and turn that into forward speed to get past the 70 door like in the current run. I never got around to testing this, but I think it was a lot less with a BLJ. Then bowser 3 takes like 7-10 presses or something. I also like the idea of seeing how far you could get if all the doors were unlocked though.

Sounds interesting to me since this is fairly fast paced and unlike ct1 doesn't make you collect tons of crowns for 100%. I haven't seen the small mini-games, but I'd imagine they wouldn't subtract from the entertainment.

Finished the glitched runs for both the GB and GBC versions and will submit soon. In the meantime I've been working on seeing if I can improve the warpless run. So far I've saved around 200 frames up until right before entering level 2. With that being said, I am having problems actually entering level 2. Does anyone know how to manipulate bow-wow so he eats the Flower blocking the entrance to level 2 so he does it as soon as you enter? I've tried a handful of stuff that usually helps manipulation like sword slashes, waiting frames, etc, but I've only got it to work when waiting for over 30 frames and having random input during that time. Advice or help with this would be appreciated! Edit: forgot to add the .vbm Here's the WIP (uses vba 23.5).

I personally preferred the all-gutter ball run.
