Watched your Mega Man Zero run last night, and really enjoyed it. You managed to pulled off something pretty ridiculous again, really nice work.

I didn't find the name that too terribly difficult. You can acually get through the levels very very quickly ignoring most enemies. You just need to kill one to satisfy the sword every once an a while, normaly just when something gets in your way. Boss battles can be annoying if your trying to get a 1 hit tate against them, but that takes a while so you wouldn't really do in a speed run. I did enjoy the game while playing it though :)

BoltR: Why is this route terrible?
So your just getting ONLY the one super missle upgrade, and high jump. Then heading all the way back back to the wrecked ship without getting items like Speed Booster, or fighting Kraid? I'm sure bomb jumping over that pool of water to get to the wrecked ship will be lightning fast... I was giving a route that would have you killing Phantoon within the first 15 minutes of the movie (Although I don't even know if doing that would get you to Phantoon fast enough for that...), but would be EXTREMELY wasteful as you wouldn't have the items to be able to get everything in the wrecked ship afterwards. I was just pointing out to Highness that you haven't killed Phantoon and are returning to your ship 15 minutes into the video, but you must mean that it will take 15 minutes to get back to your ship. For comparison's sake: Jecy kills Phantoon at ~31 minutes, and Red Scarlet does at ~27 minutes, but RS's run doesn't include the intro to the game.

He can really dance too, providing it's the same person. You could get to Phantoon in 15 minutes assuming you just did the super missle sequence break, got high jump, and then went straight to the wrecked ship. Too bad that would be a terrible route...

Well, provided he isn't using a completely different route. Getting back to the ship after a Phantoon fight in 15 minutes would make him ~23 minutes faster than Jecy's up to that point, fast indeed. Also, if you need health so bad why aren't you just manipulating health out of the enemies that are directly in your path. Refilling in your ship wastes a bunch of time, and really shouldn't be necissary...

Oh I understand now, and I also agree with you. Josh has already pointed this out in a way. He is right when he says the fighting game community have already busted these games wide open. There are already websites for such videos, ComboVideos is one of them. I also remember blip mentioning about his brother having a video on the site done with Final Burn Alpha.

I've voted meh one or two times. I've done it because from what I saw the game was well played, but I just didn't enjoy it. I did know however that it is probably just me that felt that way, and there are probably people out there that would love to watch the game. In that case the movie didn't really deserve a no, but it wouldn't make a big difference for me if it was published or not.

I noticed Mario looked up repeatedly during the ending parade. Was that the secret trick? Or was it something else?
Yeah that is what it was. I'm not sure what he is ACUALLY doing there, it kinda looks like he is clapping too.

3:15:54 from power on to when all the stars fall around Geno. This includes the jinx and culex battles.

The loss in altitude usually would pose a problem later on, from what I can gleam.
Acually the maintain maximum speed while flying you must pull up during certain frames. Hitting all the enemies would either be slower, or as Tempest said would screw him up later. On a side note: divebombing also slows you down. As for too much flying. Flying when done 'properly' is acually faster than running. I think ViPeR7 did a good job of keeping things interesting while flying, instead of just flying over every level. He should have his comments for his run up soon, I think almost all questions will be answered there :)

1) Why end the movie so late? Do you have to press a button to advance/end the princess's thanks? 2) How did you get Mario to walk so oddly during the end? Is it related to question #1?
Yes, you hold up and Mario does that.

I'm not sure what you mean about the taskbar, Snes9x already goes in the taskbar like other applications. (Maybe you mean when it has a dialog box open?)
Turns out this just seems to be a problem that only I am having. I really wonder what is causing it... Edit: Ok, it seems my shell just doesn't notice it when the program loads. If I kill my shell and reload it while SNES9x is still running then it shows the program in the taskbar. Wonder what is causing it...

I thought of something else that would be nice to add along side with my requests for always on top, and keep playing while not in focus. Would it be possible to add support for the taskbar? I hate having to minimize all my open windows to find the program when it's been lost underneith. Also, how did you end up adding the CRC and current rom name?

He isn't acually, he is just thinking of vanilla VBA. shanedudddy2 changed the extension to vbv because it used to have the same extension as VirtuaNES. You can get the version of VBA that he is using in the "Other emulator topics" section of the forum.

Edit: Is there any particular reason why allowing more than eight sprites per scaline was turned off for recording? It's just a detail I noticed while watching the AVI, nothing more.
From what i've seen it doesn't make a difference if it's on or not. It won't desync either way. The only difference that it makes is the sprites don't "flicker" for me with it on, making it nicer to watch.

Well, i'm at 11-1 right now, and I have to agree with the other guys. The game itself was interesting to watch, but watching you do all the levels again as their more difficult versions makes the run seem very long. If you use a password to skip through to the "hard" versions of the levels, and the little pauses/waste movements then I wouldn't hesitate to vote yes. Although now i'm not so sure. A question though: What causes those purple amobea things to turn into diamonds?

Yes, I have seen Jecy's run, and yes I know that it's currently 8 minutes faster then the current unemulated run. Hell I have even created part of a 100% Super Metroid emulated run myself. I also know that Teri's any percent run is 9 minutes faster than the current non-emualted run, and blew Frenom's old emulated run out the water, by 5 minutes (it used to be 32 minutes). Frenom's run was also very good, and atleast on par with Jecy's. While I suppose 15 minutes game time maybe abit much, I think you can do better than 5-7 minute improvement. Although you were right about his time messing around with the animals, it only took up ~1.5 minutes. Although my point still stands, there is alot of improving that can be done. For example: Teri's escape is 1.07 seconds faster then Jecy's. The time spent getting to Ridley is also quite a bit slower too. Jecy also doesn't use the murder beam against bosses, and loses time there. Jecy also has a longer Phantoon battle, though i'm not sure exactly by how much. The list of slower things goes on. Hell, Jecy loses time on Teri just by the way he enters some doors...

I'm not sure why you posted this here, and not in the Super Metroid thread on the SNES forums, but ok... I hope beating Jecy's time 5 minutes is just a guess... You should be able to save that amount of time by not screwing around with, and later saving the animals ALONE. Adding the new tricks in Terimakasih's run, and playing more accurately I would say you should aim for improving the run by more than 10 minutes. This is without knowledge of what you claim has "never [been] seen in a Super Metroid speedrun". So if what has never been seen before is where you are saving your 5 minutes, then I would say it should be 15 minutes faster. Also, from what i've heard/read your run is played in zsnes. Just giving you a heads up that we don't accept zsnes movies to be published here... Edit: Omni the ingame time is 47 minutes, and the avi's length is 1:25. It's the "Samus Aran" run by Jecy. You can find it on archive.org

The SNES Super Star Wars series would be great to see, is anyone interested in them at all?
Possibly ;) There is also Empire Strikes back for the NES too. I remember the AT-ATs being kinda annoying to take down, as it was side scrolling. So it might be worth watching too.

You beat me to doing this. I enjoyed it, a pity they didn't show the part where Luke destroyed 200 Tie Fighters in 2 minutes during the movie ;)

Actually, even better yet--why not just post .smv, .fmv, etc... files for runs that are more novelty runs (like this Zelda glitched run) so as not to waste so much time encoding and torrenting. I'm sure a good many people will agree with me that watching them from the emulators is way better quality anyway.
This has already been done, and is exactly what I suggested. If you look at description the Tiny Toons Adventures run you will see the text "In this game, if you press right+left at the same time, a strange thing happens. Peter Bucher aka. Exim has made a 11:52 long timeattack at this game using that glitch. His movie is available for Bittorrent download here (FMV here)." This is the exact same situation, and I beleive it should be handled the same way.

Take Ninja Gaiden for instance. If cutscenes could be seen as well as the action, it would look like a real video-game movie.
There have acually been a fair amount of people that have asked for me to do a run with the cutscenes in it. I really haven't decided weither or not I will do it...

It was enjoyable to watch, but as usual I have an observation or two. -Was is REALLY required to wait for that ball to come down the waterfall against the fish boss? Could you not get some other ball SOMEWHERE else? Even if it was slightly off path? -That naked guy was pretty random

Well using the levitation glitch you will probably want to look into changing TSA's route. There has to be SOMEWHERE that you can go early without having the hookshot that would save time.
