That's odd Truncated, it synced fine with my good rom... Edit: Actually, my checksum matches the one used by xipo. I guess it could be mislabeled from an old goodset...

Clearly privacy laws don't apply to airports.
They don't at border crossings either right now. It's being fought over in court.

I see what you mean, but why is this case different from the 1-star SuperMario 64 obsoleting the 16-star run?
The 16 star run already used glitch that breaks the game to skip most of the stars. They just found a better way of using it and were able to skip the rest. Any% Super Metroid runs don't use this glitch...obviously...

Seriously now... IT IS NOT LIKE THAT NOW, IN THE FUTURE. AS I SAID.

Just that in the future as more and more of the 120 are obtained using BLJ the need for such a run would grow.
I'm starting to think I DID make it clear, and people just didn't read what I wrote.

The whole point of the 70 star run would be so people get a run that doesn't just abuse the BLJ to get every single star. The category would be fastest completion without BLJ. Yes, technically a 120 star run would probably be better, but is anyone likely going to make a BLJless 120 star run? I wish they did, but I doubt it. You also realize the same argument that was used against it could be used against the 16 star run right? You have to realize that many people are going to find a 100% run with BLJ pretty boring. It's entertaining in the old run and the 0% run because it was a novelty that wasn't used very often. After you guys are done figuring out all the different ways to initiate the trick, 100 of the 120 stars are going to just be: 'Jump in level. Run to BLJ start location. Visually teleport to a star. Repeat.' That would be EXTREMELY boring. Even if the novelty hasn't worn off for you from the current TASes it will by the end of that. Most of the entertainment in this game came from the VARIETY of the levels, and the different crazy jumping to get to places I didn't think possible; BLJ was cool once and then it's all the same. As for a 16 star run, you do realize that it is still available on the site right? Linked to in the 0 star run description no less. Making a new 16 star run at this point is probably the most arbitrary thing you can do in this game(short of just screwing around or collecting some random amount of stars; even my really old joke crawl-o-thon is less arbitrary). As I said earlier in the thread, if you are going to use the glitch, go all out with it don't arbitrarily not use it some times. Also, saying "It's the current console maximum" is a joke, and not a very funny one. Technically speaking, the only categories that should be considered for this site are: -Quickest completion (0 star) -Quickest 100% (120 stars) -Quickest completion without gamebreaking glitch (70 stars, no BLJ AT ALL.) -100% without gamebreaking glitch (120 stars, no BLJ AT ALL) Are they all needed? Likely not. a 70 star run would be largely a repeat of the 120. The others will encompass everything else you would want to see though. Not happy with that and still want to make your random collect x stars with x conditions run? The internet has a nice service called YouTube, it is for hosting your own personal videos! Edit: Just a clarification as I didn't make it clear, I didn't really mean that 120 stars with NO BLJ was needed right now. Just that in the future as more and more of the 120 are obtained using BLJ the need for such a run would grow.

Also, if you are bringing a laptop (or any electronic device) through the airport make sure that it is charged. On occasion the airport security staff will want to turn on, or even search the contents of the device. I've heard stories (including one from someone fairly close to me) of getting things confiscated because it wasn't charged and it wouldn't turn on (Thus being deemed 'suspicious').

Well I finally got around to try attempting to watch it (sorry it took so long Truncated), and actually managed to get it to play all the way through. There was a few things that stuck out to me though as what might be poor optimization: Why do you sometimes do the jump kick going downwards and sometimes just fall normally? (Level 1 comes to mind especially) In the level where you were running along top of buildings, near the end of one of the sections, there was a jet of fire that shot straight upwards. It looked like you tried to jump over it and then realized you couldn't, so instead you used that spinning move and went through it. As a result, you needed to wait to land before jumping again. Why not just use the small jump here? On quite a few bosses it doesn't look/feel like you are hitting it as fast as possible. The brain(?) boss while you were riding the jet and the guy with the red saber stick out in my mind most right now. Against the jet most of the time you hit it while it's off the screen, but one (or two?) hits are delivered after it gets back onto the screen knocking it off again. As for the red saber guy, he is kept flashing from invincibility for most of the fight. However, there are a few times that he stopped flashing between hits for a frame or two. During the elevator climbs in the last level, it seemed as though you weren't 'prepared' for the screen to start scrolling right the first time, and as a result you weren't moving or next to the right hand side of the screen when the scrolling started. Is this an artifact of the game, or are my eyes fooling me? There are probably more small niggling things which I am forgetting, and while it doesn't look like the most tightly optimized TAS (as adelikat said, maybe it's because of zsnes), there is nothing too offensively wrong with it. However, as it's done with zsnes I would like to bug Bisqwit about how to handle it before actually changing anything with the submission.

I don't see why this movie shouldn't be published. The DX version is different enough from the gb version. The glitch used in the non-DX version was fixed, and I didn't even know something similar was possible in the DX version! The run also seems very well put together, and I found the final battle very entertaining. Very nice work!

No BLJ should be no BLJ. At all. Either use it or don't. Would people accept not using a time saving glitch (such as say, zipping in Mega Man) sometimes because the author doesn't feel like it in another game?

zggzdydp, there are circumstances where starting from a save are allowed. See the Chrono Trigger Newgame+ TAS.

Good thing this thread is in the Off topic section then. Oh, also it's an international league. With players pulled from the global pool. Which is watched in more places than North America.

Hah, that was very good. Very accurate. For some reason the first remix that comes to mind for me is this one. I don't know why, but the Cheetahmen song is just too catchy!

was0x, if you need help understanding anything feel free to ask. I'm sure there would be someone willing to translate for you. As for the rules and guidelines, I haveve taken a quick look at your movie and it seems to agree with them. I also think someone would have said something by now if it did not.

I'd like to see a run of the game. Too bad the current graphics ruin it...
