Voting yes, as it makes watching Adventure Island a little more tolerable.

That information is kept in the file format, but you need some sort of witchcraft to see that number. I suggest asking Nach to post the program which lets you tag the movies with your name and view that info. He did say that would be added eventually though.

My suggestion would be clicking the "Start" button under "Dumping:" on the "Dumping" tab.

Ok, I told you last night I would type this out for you this morning, but I was lazy. To go through the secret routes you need to talk to Spirit. You get Spirit in route 6, which is on the green route between the area A (lower pink box) and the B above it. They can't really be used as a shortcut. Unhappy face. I knew I picked the route I did for a reason... Edit: After watching what I sent you, I noticed I have a version you can get it here. Fresh off the hexeditting. I now remember inserting all that hash value and rerecording info back in by hand after nesmock nuked it.

From the past I was under the impression that he did share your view. I think I have seen him say that you should use the same region when trying to obsolete a movie. Keep in mind that Super Metroid would be have been faster too if run with the E version, but it was decided to keep with the U version.

Nach, that wouldn't even work. kileran, look how well the MPAA is doing against people distributing their videos. And they have billions of dollars to invent hidden watermarks, which aren't working.

Hey guys I have an idea. "What if" we put a watermark on the video? Let's not bother.

It is alright, you didn't really break the rules. He was just saying that you submit your run to be viewed at http://tasvideos.org/SubmitMovie.html If you need help just ask. I'm sure someone will help you.

Yes, it turned out I wasn't trying hard enough.... However, now I am REALLY stuck. Being inside the wall is just for dramatic effect. The real reason I am stuck is that pink chick. YES, THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME ABOUT THE ANTI-SWORD SHOOTERS, BUT WHY MUST YOU STOP ME TO TELL ME THAT WHENEVER I GET WITHIN 5 FEET OF YOU... Oh great, now the text is in an infinite loop...

After I got over here I decided I probably wasn't suppose to, as I cannot seem to get back. Any ideas?

I thought AnotherGamer was a whinebag? ;p As for the grammar. The hack was released something like 10 days ago. If a TAS is to be done; wait until the next version (aka bug fix) has been released. All the other accepted hacks aren't version 1.0.

I see a hack forum have a terrible signal to noise ratio; assuming it is used much that is. The aren't that many good hacks, and there probably won't ever be that many good hacks. As they take a lot more time than almost everyone would wish to spend on them. Assuming they started getting a large amount of traffic we would see mostly: "Hey, I made this hack where I turned Mario's sprite into a lobster, and he is trying to reach the pot at the end to boil himself. Who wants to make a TAS?" and not a lot of good games. Granted, that is possibility now too, but with the extra forum it would probably seem encouraged to people. As for not wanting to clutter the current console forums. Have you read the subtitle for the "Games" grouping of forums? "Work-in-progress threads, discussions about games, TAS movies, and other playing topics" I dunno, but I think Hacks fit into either "discussions about games", or "other playing topics". Currently the hacks which have been accepted are games which you might possible see on the shelf at a store. Some might need a little bit more bug fixing, or maybe re balance the difficulty, but the core game remains something people might actually spend money on. I don't think anyone minds someone creating topics for games like this, as it's almost like another game which you just have never previously heard of. However, I am pretty sure people would mind if everyone and their dog started posting their hacks which they spent 2 hours on while eating lunch. Something which I for see happening if we have a separate hack forum.

Except that information that is pretty important to gameplay goes bye bye with it. (Mentioned in the article)
That would be cool if it were really the case. The only really important information you lose from turning it ALL off is your missles. (And I guess your map if your TV is too dark). Your HP is there no matter what, and stuff like visors and weapon you don't really need the HUD for as you would be an idiot if you can't tell which one you are currently using. The need for seeing your missles is debatable too, but just for argument sake i'll say you want to see those too. So: Turning the helmet transparency to 0: No effect on gameplay. You can see everything you could see before. Except it frees up a lot of your view. Turning the hud to 0: you lose missles, minimap, radar, and the other useless shit bars. Luckily however, the gurus at Nintendo up with this new invention called the 'slide bar' which lets you select values between totally off, and totally on. So, if you REALLY need the missles/radar/map then putting it to about 40% will almost get rid of the bars, but you can still see the map radar and missles fine.

Did you read what I wrote, or just the first sentence of every paragraph. You must realize that things go both ways.

Yeah, that isn't about to happen. I'm entertaining myself. However, I don't think I have put in enough over sized pictures of air horns with sarcasm plastered across it for JXQ's sake.

My point is: A lot of issues you complain about for no reason. They are either a non issue, or can be fixed through the settings mention (Which you acknowledge later in the article). Saying "the HUD is too big" isn't an issue because you can turn it off. Saying "it's too dark" is a user problem, not a problem with the game. Your problem with having to look at the map is likely because of this too. "Having to go back to places i've been before once I get a new item" is also a terrible complaint. Have you played any of the other Metroids? The first thing you do it go get the morph ball, and then BACKTRACK to get the bombs, because 'HEY I THOUGHT I SAW A LITTLE HOLE NEAR THE START'. That is the game mechanics of a Metroid game (and now Castlevania), i'm not sure how you missed that one. The FOV complaint is probably the only that has any real merit. That is if it actually made a difference to the game play. It's not like the enemies are always dancing in your blind spot. Shit, that is like me complaining that in 2D Metroid games enemies can shoot me from off screen. Why couldn't they have just zoomed out? Give me more viewing angle? Come on, they can see me but I can't see them? That's bullshit. You also missed down the screenshot. If I turn down the brightness which it was to be emulated at, HEY LOOK I CAN'T SEE I'M DOING. Just like if I were to turn down the brightness. Maybe Nintendo should have put one of those gray scale images which PC game makers have been putting in their games. "IF YOU CAN"T SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO BOXES YOUR MONITOR IS TO DARK"

DAMN I WISH SUPER METROID WAS MORE LIKE DOOM 3, THEN I COULD HAVE A FLASHLIGHT TO SEE WHERE THE FUCK I"M GOING. ALL THE ROOMS LOOK THE SAME. BLACK. LOLZ

And since you didn't read what everyone in the thread has said to closely either: Your TV is way too dark; the rooms actually look very different from each other. The game wouldn't be so dark if your TV wasn't that dark, and then the rooms would look different.

Oh so you closed your eyes and stumped around a room until someone told you were right up against a door so you could open your eyes? No wonder you didn't like the game/thought it was too dark. BUT HEY LOOKT HE DOORS LOOKS THE SAME LOLZ.

Ok guys! It's time for a fun game! A game where you have to help Samus find where she has gotten herself lost by figuring out what room she has manged to get herself in! This is the Norfair version of the game, but I hear there are expansion packs available at the store just in case you aren't satisfied with the starter set! Samus sez: LOLZ WHERE R I??

Eh, it was ok I suppose. Not nearly as good as the 2D ones, but as games go it was enjoyable. If I weren't lazy I would go take a picture of 3 random rooms in norfair and point out how they look the exact same.

Hmm, I suppose you sure got me there. I skipped the last part of the second section where you complained about a visual effect which you could turn off. Even still, those were comments I made as I was reading what you wrote. The first line were I spoke of the options menu was made before I would have gotten to the section where you wrote about it, so i'm not going to go back and change that. The second comment was after I read the first paragraph of the cluttered part, and just before I skipped into the next section. Maybe I should have included timestamps, and footnotes stating the time when I read each sentence.
