Games worth single-level TASing.
Why single-level? I could easily complete entire games using this method. Also, could you give specific examples please?
Can you find enough so-short games that won't distract too much from this main Crazy Castle movie? EDIT: And about being examples, I think this is the best chance for some infinitely-looping/just-too-long/just-too-repetive old classic games such as Joust, Mario Bros., Balloon Fight, etc. Note: The examples were all 2-player, hmm. Maybe you should only try 1-player games (Mappy? Dig-Dug? Millipede? Exerion? Galaxian/Galaga? F1-Race?) or the distraction might be too much and the TAS would then get derailed to become "a movie that demonstrates single/few levels of several old good games and also completes Bugs Bunny: Crazy Castle for those weak-spirited watchers".
Well, my thought process is that this run wasn't particularly well-received entertainment-wise, but is still technically impressive. At the same time, the number of input combinations that would complete this run in the same amount of time is enormous, so I figure that I could use this run as an excuse to TAS games not worthy of a TAS or that don't have a finite end, but are still entertaining to watch. I like your classic game list, and those would probably all be good candidates, but I wouldn't disqualify the 2-Player idea. Any reason we didn't also include Pac-Man, by the way?

Super Mario Bros both quests!
An alright idea, but it doesn't exactly fall within the field klmz suggested. Also, the good thing about many of the games above is that the character can wrap around the screen, guaranteeing that it can be completed.

I had a crazy idea: I should make a TAS this game optimally while simultaneously beating several games in a row. I would run the input on all of the games at once, but I would only focus on one at a time. As I complete the first game, I navigate the second game to the title screen (Using death or whatever necessary), then I play that one, and this continues until I have finished Crazy Castle. Learning how to encode this would also be pretty interesting. The only question that remains, then, is what games should I complete? Any suggestions?

I haven't played this game in ages, but I remember it being pretty fun. Has anyone done anything with it? It should be a lot easier to TAS than the other games from the series.

Weak meh. It seems fairly well played, and I love the soundtrack, but it's just not that entertaining a game. Also, I was surprised and disappointed after viewing a demo of this game, as I wouldn't call this 2.5D like the submission states.

Fair enough, but it could be the first published one.

OK, I meant to say "Has there even been any normal FPS TASes? I mean, I know there have been runs for FPS games with Story Modes, but this one doesn't have one..." Sorry for the confusion.

Random question: why did they have to use the word "Super" in a NES game? I keep mixing this title up with "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure" for the SNES.

On a side note, are these kinds of submissions normally well received? It's possible that zvsp redid this run from scratch, but what if he didn't? I ask this because NitroGenesis has mentioned a frame-per-level improvement of my Crazy Castle runs that solely has to do with input. I could easily edit in the fix, but I figure I should just wait to rerun it from scratch. Is this a mistake? Should I secure my record and just edit it in?

You can do it I am unsure on how to do the sending part of it.
Alright. I highly encourage you pursue encoding (We could use A LOT of help), but in the meantime, I'll take this.

Bump. I'm really interested in this as well, and have been trying to find a reliable resource. This tutorial seemed promising, but it only has one part. While searching for more resources, I found this, which much to my surprise shows how to make a simple hello world in a fraction of the lines used in the previous tutorial. These are the only resources I've found regarding programming NES games in C, and I'd prefer to use C over assembly, but I would try either if necessary. I already know regular game programming, so I specifically want to do NES.

R.I.P. I have been playing around with some things in C lately, and it really is brilliant and the foundation of every other useful language. I really wish we were learning about it in school instead of Java; oh boy do I hate Java.

Somewhat interested, but can't commit right now. I think the game choice is fitting, due to the whole Steven Jobs having a hand in making Breakout thing. It'd also be really awesome if it were in fact hexable. Maybe I could sign up and participate only on the weeks I am available to?

Because Grunt asked me to, I figure I should mention that the 512kb for this publication has seemingly messed up video. Anyone who'd like to fix this can, but I'd really prefer not to redo this yet again, especially considering I'm relatively inactive as of late.

Has there even been any normal FPS TASes? I mean, if I recall correctly, this game doesn't even have a story mode, but just a 1P battle mode that progresses into new levels. Are the matches timed, or based on the number of kills? I'd be interested to see people's attempts with this, but I don't know if it's particularly TAS-worthy. Pretty fun game though...I am not sure why we haven't had matches in the IRC before.

Now that DTC4 is over, I think it is more than fair that I post the things that I primarily authored during the competition: A run of the first half of Level 4 (Up to the boss) that beats Aglar's WIP by a few frames. A Lua script that formats some helpful data in a very clear way. Working on this gave me some ideas for my Arcade's Revenge script. Here's hoping that this might help people improve the run further!

What exactly is the significance of this code? Is it a code that Game Genie actively advertised? Does it have a name? The above run looks cool, but I still don't understand what the point of the code is.

Uh, as mentioned in the submission, one team already has. Acmlm and Kumquat have said they finished one, but haven't submitted one yet.
Submission? You mean the first post? Yeah, that's why said "any other". Last time I checked, Temporarily Assigned Sobriquet got near completion, but still haven't finished Level 5.

The creator of this game actually suggested doing this on the TAS thread I made in the GMC. This could be the first TAS that a game developer has actually endorsed. :P
