I have a question: Since the winning TAS must be submitted to the site, what would happen in the event of a tie? Would both teams submit their video and vote on which one is more entertaining? Also if this information is posted somewhere, I apologize.
Considering how much random lag there is in this game, I wouldn't count on there being a tie.

Easy yes. I bet this improvement seems really obvious in retrospect.

I will do the official encode upon acceptance (Or when it becomes blatantly obvious that the run will be accepted).

NitroGenesis, did you do a downloadable encode / 512kb? Are you planning to? Also, next time make sure to either edit your post or reply saying you have included the encode in the submission text. I initially thought you bailed on this.

I don't understand what you want to automate. The way I recorded those scores? 1. Opened Pinball rom in FCEUX 2.1.2 2. Dragged and dropped fcm/fm2 on it (it will convert the fcm to fm2 instantly and play it) 3. Turboed through the run 4. ??? 5. Profit
You can easily parse a fm2 file and use Lua to simulate movie playback. As such, I am suggesting creating a Lua script that goes through a designated directory, picks a fm2 file, records all of the scores obtained until the playback finishes, hard resets once the ball is no longer able to accumulate points, logs to a file, and repeats for all of the other fm2 files in the directory. The only things I wouldn't know how to figure out is when a game is over and when the game is done accumulating points after the playback has completed. I'm sure figuring this out is simple using addresses, but zzz. Also, it'd probably be more interesting if someone could include this as an Easter Egg in a TAS, similarly to what Baxter did with The Adventures of Lolo. Actually, if I was adventurous, I could probably obsolete my Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle run by combining NitroGenesis' BS 60 frame improvement and this easter egg. I'll decide whether I care enough to try this when I don't have any other projects, which will probably be never.

Although essentially every game on this list deserves to be run, I would like to place a sole vote on Chrono Twins. Rockin' Kats - I agree that this game could probably be optimized much more, and that it could make for a good competition to see how much it can be improved, but I don't buy into the belief that this will never be re-run if we don't do it here. Games that have been published before have a much higher chance of being run than an obscure game with little to no resources or recognition in the TAS community. Furthermore, improvements are not something that I believe can be rushed. With the other games, we are going in blind and we have no idea how long the movies will end up being, so we have no standard to meet. With an improvement, our goal is to focus on every single flaw done by the previous author; this simply can't be done well in the given time restraints. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - I honestly found nearly no information on this game. Although I'm sure this is a good game, we have enough alternatives for me to overlook this. Captain Commando - The only real reason I like this idea is because the game is where the name Capcom came from (Captain Commando). We already have a 4-player beat-em-up on this site (The Simpsons), and I doubt its quality can be matched in the given amount of time. Sorceror's Maze - Looks really cool, but it's breakout clone that seems like it will take significantly longer than all of the other games. I'm sure this will become repetitive after a while for the viewer, even if I'm sure it'd be fun to TAS. Chronos Twins - Wow, what's not to like? A DS game without touch screen input, and one with an interesting concept at that. This is similar to a multi-game run, but with a connection between the two games. It would have all the entertainment of a multi-game run, except it would have an actual connection, and it wouldn't have redundant sounds all going on at once. Best yet, when you're actually playing this game, I'm sure you have to stop and think about what's going on in each world; in TAS, this hesitation is removed, inevitably making the final product incredibly impressive. I also don't believe this game will get the same level of attention anywhere outside of this contest, due to it not being well known (This is the first time I've ever heard of it, at least). I've never tried TASing on the DS, and I'd probably be much more comfortable running a NES game (Especially considering it might lead to another verification), but this game is so interesting that I cannot in good conscious hurt its chances of being the chosen game by voting for anything else. But hey, that's just my two cents. I'll be happy running any of these, mostly because none of them are for the Genesis (I hate Gens).

Making official encode. Edit: Encodes plus optimized screenshot: Easy yes. Thank you for making this! Please look into Pokemon Puzzle League 3D.

I was just looking at the WIPs in the WIP thread when suddenly, I got an idea. Why dont we make one single youtube channel specificly for WIPs? It would be far easier to keep track of instead of searching through multiple channels of different users. This could also help sort out all the completed runs from the WIPs since if a run is complete, you could just delete the video.
That'd require a lot of coordination between the encoders, something I'm not sure is possible.

Brandon, didn't you see the messages I wrote to you? I was also interested in your opinion. I think we can safely go with the J version now, however, as many voted for it.
I haven't been able to check it out. My opinion is just an opinion, however, as this is not merely an encoding option, but a decision about what movie file should be used in the publication. This is in the judge's jurisdiction, not the publisher, and as such, I think we should wait until this decision is ruled on before encoding.

Registering. I regret not learning to encode earlier; it seems like Brandon gets 99% of them these days. Gotta keep an eye on TASVideoAgent, yo!
99% of the encodes? There are 300 movies not on YouTube today, 80% of which I have no intention of touching anytime soon. Work on those, please!

OK, forgive my limited understanding of HD encoding (Ironic that I was the de facto owner of this script for a while), but can't we render it in the original resolution without destroying the quality, or at least some reasonable multiple? I've gotten this criticism more than one time.

I voted Meh (was even the first Meh vote (finally!) \o/ ) .. and although it was probably necessary, I didn't like the way you cleaned the screen and have to pull all the pieces up to the top in the end, ... it kind of looks like it could be improved ... at least to me o_o
I kind of had that same vibe, but I doubt the author overlooked better strategies...unless some luck manipulation could be done to get a better initial state. Publication underway.

A lot of people have been complaining that my encodes are in HD when the systems they are encoding for are not capable of producing images of that resolution. What should be done about this?

Nice improvement, zvsp. Thank you for doing this, as I wanted this to be improved and felt unable to do so both for time and skill reasons. Yes vote. Please improve Panel de Pon as well. Also, have you ever put any thought into doing a TAS of Pokemon Puzzle League's 3D mode? I was interested in giving that a shot.
Thanks much! However I don't know if I can optimize the present run of Panel de Pon. You may know also this movie, I feel it's nearly completely optimized. But I think there's possibility, I may try someday.
Well, why not try to match it, then? If the author has been given ample time to submit to TASVideos, and you create the input independently, then there's no reason why not to submit your version (Pokemon Yellow is precedent for this, and this game is far less trivial than Pokemon Yellow as far as input goes).
About Pokemon Puzzle League, I have the ROM but I remember it don't work on Mupen. I've also wanted to watch the TAS of PPL, but there is no information about working it on this forum and other sites. The 3D mode is also contained in "Nintendo Puzzle Collection" which is on GameCube and brought out only in Japan. So once I thought I'm going to do this but it don't work enough to tas. If there is any idea, I want to know.
I wouldn't know anything about this; maybe an emulator developer can comment. Thanks for your response, and enjoy the encodes!

I haven't seen this, but I don't buy the version switch on the basis of [movie 936]this movie's description text[/movie] stating that the scoring is different between the two versions, and that movie already provides a faster version of Panel de Pon. If there's an improved technique to be used in the original movie that doesn't resort to the J-specific glitch, use it with the ROM that uses the same scoring system.
You misread; this is the same ROM as the previous Tetris Attack run. He's merely stating that this run is completely different from the Panel de Pon run. As you'll see if you watch this run, it uses chains and not combos like its predecessor. Nice improvement, zvsp. Thanks. Here's the latest script. The lag indicator is still not perfect, though, but it is better. http://tasvideos-moviefiles.googlecode.com/files/megamanx%2Bextralife.zip
Oh, is this only for MMX? Could you perhaps generalize this to any SNES game? There's a lot of hidden lag in Arcade's Revenge, and I'd like to minimize it as much as possible.
