Usually no votes are for the quality of the game/runnability of the game, which you can't do much for outside of intelligent selection of games.
Usually when people vote, they should state their reasons for voting. Especially if they're voting no or meh. So those who voted no or meh, please come forward to state your reasons.

There doesn't seem to be a proper hard mode in this game, just one that removes DK-barrels. In my opinion it shouldn't be used, because the run uses a lot of tricks which involve sacrificing the other character. Also, it would be nice if you posted a WIP of your work so far.

that's cool. i do not have a copy of any windows OS at the moment so i am unable to use the emulator.
If you're using Linux, FCEUX runs very smoothly under Wine.

Voted yes. The more Umihara Kawase this site has, the better. EDIT: Forgot to thanks mz for the encode, so, thanks mz!

Watched the encode (thanks mz for that) and I noticed that the first level is improvable by grabbing the hoplite helmet and being invincible when carrying the boulder and swining on the poles. Also, the other routes in the running section might have more of those charging shoes, but I'm not sure about that. I'd also prefer if you didn't collect any of the H-E-R-C-U-L-E-S letters, because collecting just some looks a bit sloppy to me. Otherwise it looked good.

So are you discussing Donkey Kong Country 2 here or that concept you call Open source TASing? If it's DKC2 you're talking about here, the discussion should be moved here instead of creating a new topic. If it's the open source TASing concept your discussing here, I think you should create a thread in the General or Lab section.

There's already a thread for this game here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4170 We here prefer to use existing topics instead of creating new ones. That way the information is all in once place and not scattered in several threads. You can continue this conversation in the existing thread and I'm locking this one.

I watched the Youtube version (thanks NitroGenesis for that. I have something to say about it though) and I'm sorry but I have to vote no due to a bad game choice. The gameplay seemed precise and optimal, but it was just boring to watch. Good luck on your future TASes though! You seem to have what it takes as a TASer. And welcome to TASVideos, hope you'll have fun here. To NitroGenesis: Thanks for the effort you put into encoding stuff here. Your encodes have notable flaws though, such as A/V desyncing and if I recall correctly, the quality/size ratio is not great. I encourage you to read encoding guidelines and contact encoders for feedback and tips. Good luck to you too on your future encodes!

Apparently some of the newer metal gear games does this. I don't know the details.
That would probably be Metal Gear Solid 4. I've heard that it continues to install cinematics and other stuff on the PS3 HDD while playing to ensure it runs smoothly and to minimize the waiting time when installing it for the first time. Or something, not sure at all. EDIT: boct knew better than me.

I find it strange that the person who made such an accomplished TAS has never really played the game before =/
Wasn't the problem with Tombi just that? I mean, everyone has played the demo and found it awesome, but the two games didn't sell much IIRC.

Besides, it's really up to the TASer, not us.
It is, but I doubt the TASer would deliberately want to make the run longer and have more waiting periods.

I found this to be quite entertaining and it seemed precise. Giving it a yes vote. Nice job, woRM man!

Voting no because you didn't get 99 lives magnificently. For real, I am voting yes. This game has very solid gameplay and colorful graphics and fast paced action (although it's interupted a lot in this TAS). Awesome work Cardboard!

Besides, we NEED a 100% run. IAMKITSUNEANDIUSETHEMOSTANNOYINGEMOTICOSAVAILABLE
No we don't. The current long run doesn't skip too many levels and most of the skipped levels are autoscrollers. Autoscrollers are mainly boring, so there's no real need for them. Hammer Bros. aren't really entertaining and are mainly just waiting time for the box to appear and the level to end. Mushroom houses are just "runbdone", so they would also be nothing more than waiting time..

Voting no because this hack has nothing going for it that sets it aside from other RM2 hacks.
What he said. Also, I noticed a missed shot right at the beginning of this run and it made my blood boil. Overall, this run was meh, but I don't think it should be published. EDIT:

Woabclf: why don’t you try to improve a published rockman movie? It’d give you an easy acceptance.
The run would easily be accepted, yes. Improving the published run is far far away (like that famous galaxy) from easy.

Well, this run is over 5 years old. Maybe that explains something. Also, voting is pretty useless after the movie has been published, but you can voice your opinion about the movie by rating it on the movie page. That helps the site too.

The tags here use different syntax than HTML (I presume that was HTML in your post). BBCode uses [ and ] brackets and in this case the tag is URL. Tags can be found in the posting form above the actual body.

Randil's WIP was awesome and if Aglar's WIP is even faster, that's ultra awesome! Keep up the great work you two.
