Sorry, I have no idea what any of that means :( but I just quickly copied pictures for the sake of getting opinions of favorites. I think it'd be a lot less work to only dig up frame numbers for whichever of all the ones posted here is most preferred, no?

I haven't actually tested it, but from my experience with real-time play, you actually run full speed while fuzzied. You only slow down when you run on the giant slopes that form from the fuzzy effect. As long as you do first-frame jumps, or land on the peaks/valleys of the slopes, you can do it without losing speed.

Yeah I've thought of that. I'd be more concerned if the famous person weren't dead. I don't think it would work well to change my name at this point since it's the name I use on every forum, youtube, justin.tv, etc.
Here are a few of my favorite scenes that haven't already been posted:
Sorry, I lied when I said a few. Yoshi eyes for Comicalflop :P I feel like the egg juggles aren't as good still-shots, even though I want them to be :(

Hmm, so I wanted to upload the run to my youtube so that I could possibly do some annotated commentary, and so people could find my other Yoshi's Island related videos, or find links to my live streams. Should I wait for an "official" encode for these purposes, or simply use an encode I have right now?
It would be nice to not have a whole bunch of different videos floating around.
Going with this until I hear otherwise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqsERYfwkHA

Oh neat! I have watched a lot of the YI stuff on nico, but I'd never seen that run. I didn't have the eggs in 3-4 or I would have tried it, maybe I could have gotten enough.
There is a red coin that looks like it was probably blocking optimally using that strategy in 5-4, but I could probably have landed at least a little bit sooner using that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention Zvsp :)
Also, oh yeah, it's middle, not sure what I was thinking hah!

I'm still a sucker for the screenshot after the frog boss is beaten. With the frog lying dead with his tongue sticking out, and Yoshi's wide-eyeball expression, it's just too precious.
Watched 50% of it so far. My only real complain is that you missed running along moving platforms that move in the same direction you're going in various stages. Besides that, the technical quality is very precise, and the entertainment value is supremely high.
Yeah, I just didn't even know about that trick for the beginning levels, and to my knowledge it's essentially impossible to edit previous levels -- everything must be redone. I use it in the later parts of the run (i.e. 5-7).

I'm not sure exactly how much content average viewers would prefer in individual level commentary. Hopefully I struck some good balance in what I have so far. Let me know if anyone has suggestions.

There might be some small improvements like this one (if it's possible... wall jumps are quite tricky in this game). So this is one reason to vote no, but... there are a few hundred reasons for giving this one a yes, so I voted the same as everyone else.
My preferred screenshot is (insert a random number between 1000 and 330000 here).
Yeah I think that might have been faster than taking the stairs. If it didn't break my soul to redo entire levels I would have made several changes like that that came to my attention after the fact.

Awesome to see you finished this. I'll post more later, but no double gatehack on 6-7?
I tried for four hours to make it happen, and never got it. I don't know the old gatehacking methods with enemies, and couldn't figure it out through trial and error. I even despawned the first gate, then gatehacked the second, but still couldn't get through the third. Hope university is going well, Nxcy :)

It's not often that a newcomer arrives with a TAS that blows everyone's mind.
Great job, Carl! It's nice that you considered your speed-entertainment tradeoffs carefully, and you made it as entertaining as possible.
Words cannot describe how awesome this TAS is. I can't even vote.

Had to re-encode, since I only just noticed the movie didn't quite end at last input and have to change the subtitles. Should be up tomorrow at this rate.

The goals of this run were fastest completion without the use of the "left+right" glitch, as in the run by Nxcy. Instead, this run completes all of the game's standard 48 levels, ignoring 100% objectives such as red coins, flowers, and stars. As with Spezzafer's run, warps to 1-1 are used, in this case during a total of four levels.
So depending on your definition of warp, I don't warp to 6-8 using the left+right glitch, but I do use the 1-1 warp glitch four times (Spezzafer used it once in 2-1).
Also, being the smart guy that I am, there's a hundred or two extra frames after the last input at the end. I didn't realize it mattered. I have the fixed file if there's some way to update it.
Hopefully it's okay that the comments are not fully complete yet. I'll edit them extensively, as well as add in the entire level comments probably tomorrow or the next day. I'm planning on doing some audio commentary as well.

If you wish to make an TAS from scratch
You must first, invent the Yoshiverse.

Run submitted. And of course I forgot to end the .smv on the last frame of input, so I'm off to a good start.

Edit: Figured some encoding stuff out at least a little bit.
Anyway, the deed is done. I'm awaiting a final review, but basically the run is complete. Just under 20k frames ahead of Spezz's old run by the end. Video coming soon.

Well, school has been incredibly tame so far this semester, so this run will be finished within a few days :)
Can anyone advise me on how to easily go about making the .smv into a good quality movie file? I did a pretty bad job last time -- my knowledge of such things is extremely limited.

On 3-6 atm :) Just got a new any% real-time SS record (1:49:27 SDA time), so I'll be shifting my focus back to the TAS here soon.

Nice work. So many awesome tricks and time-savers I never new about, especially pushing the W2 boss off the other side. I remember actually trying to get over him to do that but without the knowledge of wall-jumps it was impossible. I'll be sure to watch the completed run.
OMG it's Spezzafer! :) I really, really enjoyed watching your run when I first discovered it many years ago =D It's awesome to know that you're watching my TAS.

Yeah, I'll definitely be doing that for all subsequent horizontal platforms.
You can fix it in your WIP by using TASMovieEditor. That is unless this fix would affect the game's RNG, but I kinda doubt it.
I know Nxcy and Baxter have had very little luck finding ways to redo sections without it totally screwing the game up. They need a much more finely tuned run since they're doing 100% though (random star movement, etc).
Can anyone elaborate?

I noticed a few spots where there's a moving platform (in the direction you're running) that you didn't run along against, but besides that, it looks very awesome! definitely what I want to see in an Any%.
Yeah, I'll definitely be doing that for all subsequent horizontal platforms. Unfortunately, I learned that running along those platforms increased Yoshi's Speed after missing one of them :P
Err, what's with making a new youtube? o.O
I guess the quality is nicer. For some reason, I got an audio desync whenever I tried to upload a higher quality version.
