Here's a thought: What if someone did a run, starting from a savestate, to see how many hearts you can get in a Pokémon contest? The only rule would be that you can't use moves the pokémon can't normally learn. I don't know the best method, though using anything with harden and takedown (for combo points) double edge (for epic points at end) could work well. Use that in a toughness contest, and here's what you'd get (with perfect crowd-wooing) 2+1 for Harden, making 3 for a total of 3 12+6 for Take Down, making 18 for a total of 21. 2+6 for Harden, making 8 for a total of 29. 12+6 for Take Down, making 18 for a total of 47. 6+6 for double-edge, making 12 for a total of 59.

Don't you think it's ironic to post that when just up the page, it says not to necrobump and ask for progress? Incidentally, Tragedy needs to change his avatar, because it's a "moved or deleted" error message from Photobucket.

I used to be extremely good at the RTS Impossible Creatures. I beta-tested a new mod, Creature of the Knight, which was meant to be incredibly difficult. Apparently, no-one had beaten the AI on expert difficulty. Proving how unbalanced it was, I beat 5 expert-level opponents, teamed against me, with only size 1 creatures.

I watched it, and it seems interesting enough for publication. However, are you sure 1 player is faster? 2 players would be much faster for boss fights.

Checking Machop's IVs, I found out that it has near-max Attack stat, with the (+Atk, -SpDef) nature and 28 Attack IV. It does come with a cost, namely the worst SpDef possible. I'm not joking. Who cares though. IVs HP: 13 Atk: 28 Def: 23 Spe: 1 SpAtk: 7 SpDef: 0 I do need to make sure later on that Castform doesn't have bad SpDef, because it needs to survive Solrock's Psychic.
So, yes, he was luck-manipulating for better IVs.

Its calibre as a game is also low - it's basically a less fun Mario Kart.

As near as I can tell, it does nothing and loses. Nothing that happened could be interpreted as victory. Unless you can prove to me that you actually won somehow, I will vote no.

Sorry, but no. After each rerecord, I watched the movie (in fast-forward) and very few resulted in shutout wins. Note that shutouts are necessary because you have to kick the ball if the other side scores.

Pokemon Stadium doesn't work on Mupen. However, once it does, I think a full-on TAS of the minigames would be good.

Nope, it's impossible to wall kick off an invisible wall. Even if Mario could, the angle would be all wrong.
I've jumped off many an invisible wall, including that specific one. An easy one is the invisible wall past the trapdoor to bowser 1. But looking at it again, it probably wouldn't work because it's a bad angle.

In Bowser 1, there's an invisible wall so close to the start you can turn around, long jump, and wall jump back to the course. Would it be possible to use this invisible wall to get the first red coin without needing to push the button?

My computer hard drive crashed - I lost my progress so far - about 5000 frames. Not that much, I've been unproductive lately, but I'm pissed and discouraged.

Here's an idea: Maybe someone more motivated than me could do this for the .smv files for the SMW fastest-possible TASes. The Mario who stays in the camera would be the one from the current TAS. The Bowser fight would be interesting, as Mario keeps reappearing at the spawn point.

How do you make that huge jump in 2-2? Where should you jump?

Mario Revolution is really hard, and when I realised that you have to start over when you lose all 50 lives, I just stopped. Maybe make it so you restart in the same world.

I was in Austria 2 years ago, and I agree with the keyboard point. Is unrealistically red-dyed hair still a fashion trend there?

Left + Right in SMB1 makes mario accelerate faster from a stop, but only when you jump. Plus, he can't go faster than walking speed. However, the current TASes do use it as an acceleration boost.

I think it's more than that, depending on how far Mario goes into the wall.

I've decided the best way to do it would be in 1 long stretch of TASing. I started yesterday.

Hey, could I do one where SMB3 plays in 2-player mode, and just suicides with Mario then runs through the game with Luigi? With SMB3 using player-2 input, the run would be way faster, but I'm not sure if it would be acceptable. EDIT: I've decided it would be slower, anyway. Mario would have to suicide 5 times.

You had your chance. The movie's only 10 minutes long. Is it faster to enter the door at the end while partially in the floor, or is it just a look?

I think we'll be getting new emulators fast enough to never run out of games to TAS.

Holy crap! Now every Mario game has been improved in the last couple months! EDIT: Just watched, and it was incredible. My favourite levels were 1-2 and the very last one. The Bowser fight was amazing, and the walk-through-wall to avoid the stairs was great.

I used to play the oboe, but my psychotic band teacher basically frightened me away from it. Nowadays, the extent of my ability is playing the Tetris theme on piano.

Ah, yes. I remember seeing that last year in "World's greatest commercials".
