I think it would be possible to make a hack where all the levels are autoplaying, but that follows the normal route of the warps TASes. Is it possible to change how many hits Bowser takes to die? If it is, set it to 0 and be happy.

What NES game has the largest ROM file? I ask because I noticed that AD&D dragon strike has 512 KB, which is the same size as Super Mario World for SNES.

I'm going away for a couple days, so I'm going to set up BasicBot to run Arkanoid and see how it does. I'm hoping for it at least to live a for on paddle hit. But what's the memory address for score?

You know, we've been looking unsuccessfully for the .ips, why not just send a message to the youtube account of the best poster? Probably that would be the guy mentioned in the topic post, so someone who speaks Japanese should just send him a message asking for the .ips or ROM. He'll probably be happy for the attention.

If you had a computer that was infinitely fast, or so close that it could be considered infinite, and told it to find the fastest input to win all games in existence, it would still be limited. For example, if a game had a password screen, the bot would immediately enter a password to go to the last level. It would be impossible to have it do a no-warps run, and games like SMB3 would have very unentertaining autoscrollers for the sake of reducing lag.

Let me explain a bit: Serpent is a meant to be a futuristic sport game, one with a very near end point. You can think of the series as being like a "World Series" or something. I only play one game, as opposed to the entire series. If it would be considered more publishable to make a run which completes 7 battles, I'll submit that, but personally I believe 1 battle is better.

Hmm, that .ips Dromicieus posted loaded as a ".xxx". Is that a computer error? If yes, please post the .ips here. If no, how does one decompress a .xxx?

What's the roadblock? I hit one with the fall-through floor trick in 1-1 when I tried that run.
@ RevalationK: Good luck. 2 player runs are harder to make, but I think with good use of frame advance you can do it.

Here's a video called "Mario Lecture". It shows off a bunch of odd bugs in the game, including one I thought impossible - jumping straight through a brick. Who here speaks Japanese and can translate this?

I propose a TAS be made that beats all levels as fast as possible, then beats bowser's castle (If this is also self-winning) by having movie end occur right after pressing the button to go into the level.

As the creator of the run is question, I must take issue with you on this. How is it less entertaining to show a strange glitch which speeds up the run significantly? Without suicide, the running parts are about 25% slower. The suicide bug is a strange graphics glitch, and is a lot more entertaining than having the 2 characters simply run along without anything interesting happening.

My run picks up the Golden Hammer in level 4. The luck-manipulation is insanely simple: Remainder of (x+y)/8. x is the number of times the hammer has been swung in the level, and y is the level number. So I swing the hammer aimlessly at one point.
