Hot damn, go away for a few days and there's a 6 minute SM64 run and a new WIP from Primo. Nice work.

Rridgway wants to see it. He's not exactly the TASing type, so he has made little progress.

He's thinking of the Lost Levels, I suppose. I wonder if anything like that could be used in the Lost Levels to get to world 5 fast?

In Mario Bros, can 1 player pick up the other one? That could make for interesting moves. I've had interesting battles with that with 2 linked Super Mario Advance games.

I tried to send in a TAS of RCR. I packed the .fcm in a .zip with 7zip, but when I submitted the .zip, the site says "No acceptable movie file found in the .zip". Also, it says that the FCM does not begin with a reset, even though it does. If it matters, this was recorded with FCEU 0.98.16

Looks excellent, good improvement and good job making the new WIP so fast. I seem to recall a discussion several pages back about speeding up the run by having Charmander not evolve, but no effective method was found. But I suppose this works as well as anything. Looking forward to the next .vbm :D

Why is the rerecord count 0? Run-wise, it looked OK. However, when climbing vines, it's best to press up+left, then hit A to jump upwards, going right to catch the vine again. Doing the same with left+right inverted is equally effective, of course. Also, the into is unoptimized - you need to get as close as possible to landing on the hill above where you land, without actually landing on it.

Looks excellent. I'm surprised at an improvement this big so early on. I'm not a big fan of the border, but I suppose that's at the author's discretion. I can't wait until the bugs start coming. On another note, I'm not entirely sure you read my post about route just after Pewter, so I'll quote it here.

It is in fact faster to fight the trainer with Rattata and Nidoran, then backtrack to the outskirts of Pewter, and then advance again. Here's an unoptimized test run, which is at least 2.5 seconds faster despite the fact that Charmander takes a hit from Nidoran. Rattata can be OHKO'd with Ember, but Nidoran has health of 1E and max damage with Ember is just 1C.

1000 posts for Laughing_Gas! I haven't watched your WIP yet, so idk if it includes this, but... Toad runs WAY faster with a POW block. For tips on anything in the game, ask me. I've TASed it (with a time of 12 minutes) and UASed it (18).

I am pleased to report that as of entering the warehouse (where you fight Rocko) for the second time, my run is 6 seconds ahead of Vatchern's and I've discovered yet another bug. If you press left+right for the warping trick, it's possible to "turn off" the warping by press left OR right. If you time it right, the character ends up in midair. Hopefully, this could speed up entering the door after the Otis fight. I plan to grab a tire in the warehouse, pwn the next 3 bosses, then grab a trash can to do yet more damage. Trash can of justice: Now with more justice!

I made a run of Super Mario Advance, and after beating the game, I play the Mario Bros mode for 8 stages. I'll upload this video soon. EDIT: Damn, I think I overwrote the file. Well, here's one tip: Hitting enemies from beneath earns 10 points, at least in the GBA version, so just bounce enemies constantly. If you can trap several in one place, you can get big combo points.

I found a bug that could speed up some boss fights, particularly Thor. You know the left+right bug that's used to kill someone off? If you keep the guy onscreen, he'll damage people half a screen away. I hope to fight bosses by using this for the last blow, just before teleporting away.

SM64 music sounds really good on a piano. Just saying that. For example. My favourite game soundtrack is either that or SMB2. My least favourite game soundtrack is Tomb Raider. It tries to establish a creepy mood, but it goes too far and just generally ruins playing the game.

Vatchern got one minute. Anyways, anyone who says my methods are unentertaining has clearly never seen my final boss test run. My method involves running around everywhere, constantly doing flying-kick attacks, and throwing weapons to have them bounce off walls, etc. Far better than Vatchern's, which is just standing still and repeatedly clubbing the enemy.

Wow. I declare Zggzdydp the best Castlevania TASer ever. Some people become known for running the same game, or series, repeatedly. Rikku has 3 Super Mario 64 runs. Fractalfusion has 3 pokémon runs. Baxter has 4 tetris runs. But you have made 4 great Castlevania TASes, in a very short span of time!

Including RCR. I'm not very far, but some test runs have improved the last boss fight by over 30 seconds compared to the published run.

On second thought, it kind of grants an unfair advantage in the entertainment category. So nvm.

Bringing this quite a bit after the last post, my Terminator 3 run has one part which involves spending 3 minutes locked in a room. It doesn't matter what you do while in the room - even dying until you have 1 life left will get you out equally fast. So I plan to synchronize that part to a song. I don't have a particular song in mind yet - preferably it should be free, so as to be non-copyright-infringing. I presume I would just say when to start playing the song, then the published movie would have the song overlaid. Any song suggestions?

I noticed this movie has no Movie End text. Is this a habit of the particular encoder, does FCEU not record "movie end" in the AVI, or is this some new tasvideos policy?

I noticed something. In the third book, Voldemort is said to be the most feared dark wizard in the last centry (pages 10-11). By that logic, there was someone much worse 100 years ago. You'd think the MoM would be better prepared for a less evil wizard than the one they had defeated a century ago. The only time progress in the wizarding world is ever mentioned is the "newly developed" wolf-bane potion. Wizards are rather stagnant technologically.

Suppose your name was q4t3q8o3yt83yht83hyt - you hit random crap on the keyboard. You then copied and pasted that into the password section. Would it read as highly secure or not very secure?

There's not nearly enough of a difference to create a new submission. Just modify the current one.

Well, the troops can be placed at a rate of 30 hertz, which means the few extra troops aren't worth all the cursor time.

Mmm... Orange juice. HAHAHAHA! I'm so witty! You're too dumb to understand my joke! Teeheehee! You can't make random little jokes that the person you're directing them at doesn't understand. I thought Peppy was some random person who wasn't very trustworthy.

Here's another point: When they're Apparating all over the place to try to duck Voldemort, it mentions that they travel all over "Britain, Scotland and Wales". Why the fuck wouldn't they go to Beijing or Santiago? Are they too dumb to realize that there are countries besides the UK? Or do they hope that eventually they'll land on a horcrux? On that note, why wouldn't Voldemort hide the horcruxes in the Sahara desert, or even drop them in the Pacific Ocean? I suspect that Rowling isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but she thinks she is. So, she makes her characters a little dumber than her, which makes them exceptionally stupid.
